What students say about Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology - [Thapar University]

Likes

  • All the faculty here have Ph.D.s from some of the best colleges in India, such as IIT and IISC. To maintain the time schedule, Thapar University converted the 6-month semester to a 4-month semester by including classes on Saturdays during the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • To obtain a substantial stipend through internships, they need to distinguish themselves from others. Off-campus internships rely on connections and personal networking.
  • Placement and job opportunities are excellent at Thapar University, with almost 90% of students who sit for placement exams being successfully placed.
  • As far as I know, there was no scholarship offered for both the masses and intelligent individuals.
  • The library at Thapar is the best library you can find in India, and perhaps it also has a ranking throughout Asia.
  • Thapar has the best infrastructure at its level and has been consistently improving the quality and technology-based system.
  • The admission process in this college is excellent. We can avail all the reservation benefits, and the official website provides the application form with all the necessary procedures for admission. Additionally, every course is offered in this college.

Dislike

  • The faculty-student ratio is not good (1:100) for the CSE department, which is one of the flaws here, and many labs are taken by PhD scholars who are just awful.
  • There is no job placement and no help available, even though they have received the fees. They are least bothered, Mr. Bawa, the placement head.
  • There are various types of scholarships in our college, which enable even poor students to study here.
  • The campus is very big, but the medical facilities are very poor. No ambulance service is provided during emergencies.
  • Now, the hostels for the 1st year are the worst, whereas the hostels for the 3rd and 4th years are newly built, so they have all the amenities.
  • The only negative thing is the intake of students, which is increasing year by year and could prove to be stressful for the placement cell and staff.

Placement Experience:

The placements at my college are decent. Students may be eligible for campus placements after the 5th-6th semesters. In the year 2022, above 95% of students who applied for placements were placed from COE(Computer Engineering) branch. Top recruiting companies were Amazon, Deloitte, IBM, Microsoft, Infosys, Maruti, and many others. The highest on-campus placement last year was around 50-55 lakhs per annum. The average placement for COE in Thapar Institute was around 12LPA, with a median salary of 10LPA. Almost 60% of students get internships in the 3rd year of their graduation. COE is the best branch as it deals with both hardware and software, so it leads to overall development which is the primary requirement for becoming an engineer in today's world. After getting the degree, I want to explore myself and want a good placement by a company that needs my skills.

Remarks:

For taking admission to the course of Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) in Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology, the eligibility criteria is just the same as for giving JEE MAINS exam, because Thapar takes the admission based on JEE percentile. Also, Thapar takes admission based on Class 12 Boards marks. Information regarding the JEE mains applications fees, application dates, and application forms will be available on the official NTA website. After the result of JEE MAINS, you have to fill out an application form from Thapar, available on the Thapar website after JEE result. The application form charges Rupees 2500 (but it varies sometimes, depending on the matter of time). I didn't avail of any Reservations Benefits, but I know that Thapar provides reservation categories for OBC, ST, and SC, and also reservations for Punjab students. The admission process is quite easy, so no need for any improvement.

Placement Experience:

TIET offers a considerably good amount of placements, with packages ranging from as low as 6lpa to as high as 60-70lpa. Also, the percentage of students getting placement is quite high for the current year.

Remarks:

The admission process was all online and quite easy. The form and every other detail were available on the website. There is a 50% reservation for students from Punjab. Also, there is a reservation for sc and st candidates. The helpline number is also working most of the time and a team called Frosh is there to help out in the admission process.

Placement Experience:

The placements are quite good here. The university provides internship opportunities from 2nd year itself only. One can explore many opportunities off campus as well. Most of the students enrolled in the course get placed. Reputed companies like Google, Microsoft, Jaypee Morgan, Apple, and Barclay's provide on-campus placements.

Remarks:

The eligibility, of course, is 12th oass and jee examination percentile is required. Application forms and fee details are available on the college's website itself only. State quota is there. There is a gap sometimes between the cutoff for general outside state quota and state quota. this gap can be minimised to give fair admissions.

The placement at Thapar University is very good. many companies like apple, Microsoft, Google, Adobe visit here which make plenty of opportunities for all the students, internship are also offered but hard to get

Remarks:

Admission to Thapar University occurs through Jee Mains percentile as well as from boards, for boards there is only one round and the cutoff is also very high, for jee main you must have at least 93 percentile for coe in the last round

Generally, students become eligible for campus placements in their final semesters. Companies from various sectors like IT, finance, consulting, etc., visit the campus to recruit students. Some popular companies that visit campuses for placements include Infosys, TCS, Deloitte, Cognizant, and Wipro. The percentage of students getting placements can vary from 60 to 80%.

Remarks:

The admission process was through JEE. You can find the form on Thapar.edu. You will get all details on the website. You can get into the college through reservation but fees are the same for all. There was no such hassle during the admission process.

Placement Experience:

In the 6th sem companies start coming to Thapar. The number is greater than 200+ but It's important to note that many core companies visit the campus like L&T, Indian OIL, and Bharat Electronics. In CS companies like Flipkart Amazon Ola etc IN electronics Companies like American Electronics and NXP in Core:- Akash for teaching positions.

Remarks:

For BE (ENC) the eligibility is very less than 10+2 with PCM with min 80% marks the application form comes live on the TI'ET website. where you submit e copy of documents and register after paying an application fee there is a 50% reservation for Students residing in Punjab. however, in most branches, actual differences in cutoffs are very less specifically in computer branches. There also exists an NRI quota. The application process is exceptionally smooth

Placement Experience:

Thapar has a very nice brand name, it comes under the best college for engineering. If you didn't get a job from campus still you have a very big brand name on your cv which is highly respected and well known.

Remarks:

There are two modes of admission based on boards, based on JEE percentile. I got admission based on the boards PCM percentage for Punjab state students the cutoff was 97.3 % in PCM and for other state students, the cut-off was 99-100% for CSE for other computer related degree have can be allotted if you have 95%and you are from another state whereas Punjab state students can get computer-based branches in 92% also for application process keep checking Thapar's official site (thapar.edu).

Placement Experience:

1. Students become eligible for placements in the 8th semester. 2. Apple, Amazon, and JPMC made a decent number of offers with up to 8 vacancies. 3. Highest Package-44.5LPA and Lowest-2.5LPA. 4. Almost 80 Percent of students got placed. 5. I am going to prepare for civil services.

Remarks:

1. There are 2 modes of admission one through JEE and one through Boards. 2. All the details were uploaded on the university website. 3.N/A 4. I think the admission process can be made smooth if there is less communication gap between college and students.
