My JEE main rank is 10000. Can I get computer science in NIT Trichy?

RK
Rohan Khare Posted On : February 27th, 2023
Studied Bachelor of Engineering in Chemical Engineering at Dr. S.S. Bhatnagar UICET, Panjab University (Graduated 2021)

I know I might sound blunt, but you cannot get into NIT Trichy CSE unless you belong to a reserved category. The expected opening and closing rank for the B.Tech CSE course at NIT Trichy for the academic session 2022 was around 400 to 5300. This year there might be only a slight difference. However, your rank of 10000 has no chance considering the cutoff.

Don’t get discouraged as here is the bright side. You might not get into NIT Trichy CSE but you surely might get into NIT Jalandhar, NIT Hamirpur which are quite good institutes if not as good as Trichy. In fact, NIT Jalandhar was ranked among the top 5 NITs in NIRF rankings (placement-wise).

You can't get NIT Trichy's CSE, but don't worry you can still get CSE at NIT Jalandhar, NIT Hamirpur, etc. Believe me, they are also good institutions. Talking about NITJ it was ranked among top 5 NITs in NIRF rankings placement-wise.

Another option is to apply at your home state institute. For instance, if you are from Delhi, go for DTU or NSIT. While the choice of Institute does matter, the majority depends on your own persistence.

What marks do you need to get into NIT Trichy?

VG
Vivek Goyal Posted On : August 26th, 2022
B.Tech from National Institute of Technology, Kurukshetra

Applicants need at least 60% aggregate marks in 10+2, in order to get admission at NIT Trichy. This is the prerequisite for applying.

For final admission, students are shortlisted based on their JEE Main rank. NIT Trichy cutoff depends on several factors, such as branch, domicile, student category, competition, etc. The required cutoff for CSE and ECE is relatively higher, as most students opt for these branches. In 2021, the closing cutoff for CSE was 793.

The best way to answer the ‘Why IPM’ question in the IIM Indore interview is to state your future career plans and explain how IPM is the perfect program for achieving those goals. The interviewer wants to know what made you choose the program. So, you need to provide a couple of valid reasons why IPM aligns with your goals. For example, you can say, the course curriculum of IPM is updated according to the current industry practices. So, it will be easier for you to pick up the skills and knowledge required to have a successful career in the industry.

How tough is IIM B test for getting into fellowship program at IIM Bangalore?

SM
Siddant Mittal Posted On : July 8th, 2022
Studied at Indian Institute of Management Bangalore

The IIM B test for getting into a fellowship program which is also known as RAT is difficult. It can be challenging if you haven’t prepared for CAT/GMAT/GRE/JRF in the past or took any kind of prep course. The examination includes theory questions from specific areas of Game Theory, Calculus, or other advanced techniques from standard undergrad syllabus but the examination syllabus isn’t limited to these topics.

IIM B test isn’t an aptitude test like CAT. As these are area-specific tests, a good weightage is given to the test score for evaluation.

Which one should I go for, NICMAR or an MS in the US?

AG
Akriti Ghose Posted On : March 10th, 2022
PGP-REUIM from National Institute of Construction Management and Research

It’s better to do an MS from US as you will get better exposure compared to NICMAR. Their practical approach to studies like labs and internships will help you a lot in your career. You will get better career options after completing an MS in the US. Since the degree is valid all across the US as well as the world. You don’t need to give any other qualifying examination for working anywhere. The yearly salary for MS degree holders in the USA is around $73,900 ( ~INR 54,31,413).

While NICMAR is well-known for management studies in the field of Civil Engineering. But they offer MBA rather than M.Tech or ME degrees. Also, NICMAR is recognized as a Scientific and Industrial Research organization by the Govt. of India. None of the degrees offered by the institute is AICTE approved.

Is NMIMS's average salary really above 16L Rs.?

DP
Deepanshu Pandya Posted On : February 22nd, 2022
MBA from SVKM's NMIMS (2019)

According to the 2021 placement report, here is the average salary package received by NMIMS students.

NMIMS Mumbai Average Package:

Average CTC  INR 18.45 LPA
CTC for top 50 students INR 25.16 LPA
CTC for top 100 students INR 22.89 LPA
CTC for top 150 students  INR 21.55 LPA
CTC for top 200 students  INR 20.16 LPA

You should note that average salary is not the right measure of placements. There are students who get placement packages above INR 25 LPA. There are also students who get packages around INR 8-9 LPA. The right measure of placements is the median salary which isn’t usually mentioned explicitly often. But if you are aiming to secure a salary package above INR 16 LPA, you can certainly get it with strategic preparation.
