Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose the course to pursue my bachelor's in computer science. Teacher to student ratio is 1 to 70. Most of the teachers are qualified but some are here through recommendations from famous politicians. Term exams happen after a gap of 1 month and correction is very strict. Students are failed on purpose to make money from the summer semester and auxiliary exams.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Because I had a deep interest in Computer Science and coding The faculty-to-student ratio is decent. There are about 40 faculty for 100 students The faculty is very highly educated and have their Ph. D from esteemed institutes. Exams were very frequent. Each semester consists of two sessionals, MST and EST. It can get really hectic. Passing is not that tough if you study without any piling up.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The institution's reputation, the quality of faculty and resources, the variety of specializations, and the career prospects in the field. As for the faculty-student ratio, it is approximately 1:15 in the CSE department at Thapar, which is relatively favourable. The faculty members at Thapar are highly qualified and experienced, with many holding PhDs from prestigious institutions both in India and abroad. They are also actively involved in research and have published papers in various national and international journals. Regarding the difficulty level of passing the faculty, it would depend on various factors such as the course, the individual student's aptitude and dedication, and the faculty's teaching style and evaluation methods. However, as a reputed institution, Thapar's CSE department is known for maintaining high academic standards, and students are expected to put in consistent effort to succeed.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I was always very passionate about computers, I was introduced to computers when I was a very young kid and this lead me to choose a career in CSE. Initially, I did a diploma in CSE and then a bachelor's course in the same discipline. The faculty we got at the institute was great. It was hard transitioning to the offline setting after the pandemic but they motivated us to do our best. Most of the faculty was well educated.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose the COE computer engineering course, as the placement ratio in cse branches is higher and with good packages. It is a big campus with more than 10,000 students and around 1500+ faculties. Faculty are well qualified but some of the teaching methods are still the boring old-fashioned way of teaching through ppts and everything. Exams are going on throughout in form of sessional, lab evals and semester exams

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose computer science because of its demand in the industry and the packages the companies are offering to computer science students. Faculties are quite friendly and experienced too having great knowledge about their domain. I would say on average there is one faculty for every 50 students. Faculties are mostly Ph.D. and the teaching method is also unique with a smart class in every lecture room. Exams are held 2 times in each semester i.e. mid-term and end-semester exams.

You can get CSE at Thapar University if you are a resident of Panjab. The institute has a 50% seat reservation for the Panajb quota. For out-of-state students, Thapar University cutoff for CSE usually stays above 180. But, you can try for other branches.  Thapar offers a branch change option. Ques. How are the Computer Science placements at THAPAR UNIVERSITY?

● Top Answer By Prateek Dasgupta on 10 Aug 21

For the CSE department, placements are the best in Thapar. There is one thing that is improving every year in the college and that is the average package and the highest package offered to the students of the CSE department.  According to this year’s placement highlights the average CTC offered was 8 LPA and the highest CTC offered was 43 LPA.  If you are a student of the CSE branch, make sure that you maintain your CGPA above 7 and have good command in JAVA, C++, etc. If you take care of these two things, you will get placed with a very good package. Around 95% of the students get placed in the department....Read more

Ques. Which is better, chemical engineering from UICET PU Chandigarh, chemical engineering from Thapar University Patiala or computer science from CCET Chandigarh (affiliated to PU)?

● Top Answer By Pankaj Kumar on 05 Aug 21

Having a few friends from both institutes I might be able to share some facts about both the institutes. Chemical Engineering at UICET is better than Chemical at Thapar University or CSE at CCET. UICET is a well-renowned university and has a reputed department.  They have brilliant placement records and a strong alumni base. Laboratories and faculty at UICET are better than those at Thapar. Course fees at UICET for chemical engineering are very less than that in Thapar University.  Thapar is no doubt a well-reputed university but as far as chemical engineering is concerned UICET is better. CCET is affiliated with PU located in sector-26 Chandigarh. It is well known for its diploma courses. However, UICET is any day better than CCET in all terms. Categories Chemical Engineering at UICET Chemical Engineering at Thapar University CSE at CCET Chandigarh Course Fee INR 70,079 13.23 lakh 2.45 lakh Highest CTC 18 LPA 15 LPA 12 LPA Average CTC 6.31 LPA 7 LPA 4-5 LPA Recruiting Companies Honeywell, Reliance, Pfizer, Piramal Healthcare, etc. Reliance, GAIL, ONGC, GlaxoSmithKline, etc. Infosys, Godrej, L&T, HCL, etc. Your preference order should be Chemical Engineering at UICET> Chemical at Thapar University> CSE at CCET....Read more

Ques. Should I Join Thapar University (CSE) or take a drop to study CSE (B Tech) at IIT or BITS Pilani ?

● Top Answer By Nisha Saini on 12 Aug 21

Thapar University is an excellent choice for CSE, with placements much exceeding expectations, but comparing it to IITs is simply not justified. IITs are India's premier universities, and Thapar is nowhere in comparison. When it comes to NITs, Thapar is superior to the majority of them, with the exception of a few You can check the NIRF rankings to confirm the same. Thapar will also provide you with significantly greater exposure than most NITs. It's up to you to make your decision. I dropped out of IITs because I couldn't afford to earn decent JEE advance scores. IITs are the finest place to be if you are a confident and hardworking young man....Read more

Ques. Is a CSE degree from Thapar University worth spending 25 lakhs?

● Top Answer By Kaushik Halder on 10 Aug 21

A CSE degree from Thapar University doesn’t cost 25 lakhs. I have a friend from the institute who will soon graduate from the institute. He paid approximately 12 lakhs for four years. Hostel fees are not included. Even with annual increases and hostel fees, it will never reach 25 lakhs. CSE from Thapar is worthwhile because they have excellent placements and a welcoming environment. According to the 2020 placement highlights, more than 264 companies visited the placement drive and the highest CTC offered was 43 LPA. Also, there are a number of societies in Thapar where you can learn a variety of non-technical skills such as dance, singing, economics (ECON Club), event management, marketing, and design and various events take place throughout the year. This contributes to an individual's overall development. Apart from what is included in the syllabus, there are societies that cater to technical learning such as CCS, Microsoft Student Chapter (for CS students, anyone with an interest is welcome to join), IEEE, IETE (for ECE students), and many more for all branches. All these factors make Thapar a good option for pursuing a CSE degree....Read more

Ques. Should I go for CSE or COE at Thapar Patiala?

● Top Answer By Shubh Sharma on 05 Aug 21

A few of my friends graduated from Thapar University and here’s what they have to say about it. While discussing both the branches, they consider COE to be better than CSE because of several reasons. These include: COE is the oldest branch at Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology. COE being a bit experienced has better placement records than CSE.  COE also has a strong alumni network. The subjects of COE are related to both software and hardware. Thus, students will learn about programming languages too. If we see CSE it is a new branch started this year only and has no placement records. Also, little or no hardware knowledge is given to CSE students as compared to COE....Read more

Ques. Thapar University has 670 seats for CSE students. Does this affect placements, because after seeing the number of CSE seats, I'm a bit tensed to join Thapar University?

● Top Answer By Nikhal Gupta on 06 Aug 21

Yes, the huge batch size can be concerning. In case, if you compare the present statistics with the 2017 batch, you will notice the seat difference. 2017 saw a peak of only about 220 seats which undeniably helped students acquire multiple offers in the span of their course period even if they were not particularly exposed to the course academically.  Comparably, as the number of seats has drastically spiked, recruiters are often seen to only choose a handful of students who have the best skill set. The number of people getting into dream companies remains the same as before but you will need to compete with more people to get selected.  But if you think you can particularly ace Computer Science, then you can opt for Thapar University. There you will have the opportunity to sit for the interview sessions oftop firms, such as Microsoft and Amazon. According to the 2020 placement highlights, 264 companies visited the placement drive and the highest CTC offered was 43 LPA. ...Read more

Ques. Is Thapar University the best for CS engineering?

● Top Answer By Nandini Saha on 12 Aug 21

Thapar University is a very reputed and popular engineering institute and it is one of the best institutes to pursue CS engineering. It is the best private university after BITS Pilani and is much ahead of other institutes like VIT and Manipal. It is even better than some of the NITs.  Faculty: The faculty of this college are great and have years of experience in teaching. They make the concepts look very easy for the students and also motivate them to do better in their academics.  Placements: The placements of this college are amazing too as the top package offered here was 44 lakhs per annum and the average package being offered here is around 7-8 lakhs per annum.  Hence, Thapar University is among the best universities to pursue CS engineering as its faculty is top-notch and it offers very good placements to the students. ...Read more

Ques. What is the difference between COE and CSE at Thapar University?

● Top Answer By Rachita Sengupta on 04 Jul 22

CoE stands for Computer Engineering. This course includes the study of software and hardware. While CSE stands for Computer Science and Engineering and the course work revolves around programming languages, developing software, theory, and algorithms.  If you are more interested in coding, CSE will be a better choice. The placement record of the branch is also good. The highlights of Thapar University placements show the average CTC for CSE to be around INR 13 LPA. ...Read more
