However, as per the official UG placement data for the batch of 2023, 83% UG students were successfully placed from the campus. The list of top recruiters for CSE department of Thapar University includes JP Morgan, Amazon, American Express, Apple, Deloitte, DE Shaw and Co, Samsung, and many other such brand names.
Like any other engineering college, the Computer Science placements are superior at Thapar University in comparison to other branches. The majority of students with good grades end up getting a decent job.
Here are a few points highlighting the CS placement scenario at Thapar University
Overall, the Computer Science placements at Thapar University are great!
Having a few friends from both institutes I might be able to share some facts about both the institutes. Chemical Engineering at UICET is better than Chemical at Thapar University or CSE at CCET.

Your preference order should be Chemical Engineering at UICET> Chemical at Thapar University> CSE at CCET.
My brother completed his CSE at Thapar University. He was also planning to take a drop initially. But after doing a lot of research and consulting others, he decided to go to Thapar University. It is a prestigious and well-reputed institution.
My brother felt he couldn’t handle the pressure of entrances and preparation any longer. Besides, the placements at Thapar University are at par with other top institutions like PEC and ISM Dhanbad. Even the education system and reputation of Thapar University are good.
According to my brother, if you have the courage and determination, you can take a drop and try for the IITs or BITS Pilani. But as far as Thapar University is concerned, it has a good infrastructure, good facilities, and amazing seniors. It is better than most NITs (barring a few) and also has a strong alumni network. Therefore, you won’t regret joining Thapar University for your CSE.
A CSE degree from Thapar University doesn’t cost 25 lakhs. I have a friend from the institute who will soon graduate from the institute. He paid approximately 12 lakhs for four years. Hostel fees are not included. Even with annual increases and hostel fees, it will never reach 25 lakhs.
All these factors make Thapar a good option for pursuing a CSE degree.
A few of my friends graduated from Thapar University and here’s what they have to say about it.
While discussing both the branches, they consider COE to be better than CSE because of several reasons. These include:
If we see CSE it is a new branch started this year only and has no placement records. Also, little or no hardware knowledge is given to CSE students as compared to COE.
Yes, the huge batch size can be concerning. In case, if you compare the present statistics with the 2017 batch, you will notice the seat difference. 2017 saw a peak of only about 220 seats which undeniably helped students acquire multiple offers in the span of their course period even if they were not particularly exposed to the course academically.
Comparably, as the number of seats has drastically spiked, recruiters are often seen to only choose a handful of students who have the best skill set. The number of people getting into dream companies remains the same as before but you will need to compete with more people to get selected.
But if you think you can particularly ace Computer Science, then you can opt for Thapar University. There you will have the opportunity to sit for the interview sessions oftop firms, such as Microsoft and Amazon. According to the 2020 placement highlights, 264 companies visited the placement drive and the highest CTC offered was 43 LPA.
Thapar University is a very reputed and popular engineering institute and it is one of the best institutes to pursue CS engineering. It is the best private university after BITS Pilani and is much ahead of other institutes like VIT and Manipal. It is even better than some of the NITs.
Hence, Thapar University is among the best universities to pursue CS engineering as its faculty is top-notch and it offers very good placements to the students.
CoE stands for Computer Engineering. This course includes the study of software and hardware. While CSE stands for Computer Science and Engineering and the course work revolves around programming languages, developing software, theory, and algorithms.
If you are more interested in coding, CSE will be a better choice. The placement record of the branch is also good. The highlights of Thapar University placements show the average CTC for CSE to be around INR 13 LPA.
One of my friends graduated from Thapar University and here’s what I got to know from him. Firstly let me answer your question.
You may get CSE through mode-2 counseling however the chances are moderate. So, try all the modes and in-person counseling.
