We are gonna have one mid-term test and then one end-term test in one semester. we will have 20 percent of the mid-term syllabus in end-term tests and now coming to our faculty members are highly educated and very knowledgeable.

This year the course circulum has changed. highly qualified faculty with Ph.D. degrees and master's degrees, no difficulty in managing students for faculty advisors. There will be one mid-exam and end examination.

I chose this course because I have been really interested in civil engineering since my childhood, As my father is in the same field. The faculty to students ratio is pretty good in comparison to other colleges. The qualifications of the faculty are very high. They had a very good experience. there are 2 exams per semester. 30 marks for midterm 50 in the end sem and another 20 marks for internals. It is relatively hard to pass these exams.

I am very much fascinated by civil engineering. In this particular course, the faculty was excellent in teaching and the Student-faculty ratio was 15:150. Most of the Faculty members were done with their masters, PG, etc. The exams were slightly difficult to pass the exams.

The laboratories have the apparatus needed to perform exercises but the instruments are old and don’t work properly. But the lab sessions are very useful, you can learn a great deal by attending these, The Civil Engineering Association also provides good workshops often.
NIT Calicut placements are good for Civil Engineering. Around 75-80% of students get placed through the campus drive. The average CTC offered is around INR 8 LPA.
Is NIT Calicut civil or chemical better in terms of placements and scope in future?
If you are a Civil student, my advice to you would be to prepare for the GATE exam once you are done with your degree. The placement is quite low for core companies. Many students also follow the same.
Chemical students are known to focus on jobs and have a good placement in analytics and software-based companies. Many of the top ones also land core jobs.
My suggestion would be to check the syllabus and pick the subject you like. You will realize which subject has good scope and what does not. As far as Civil is concerned, most students land jobs at L&T. But, they will make you work a lot and you will not be satisfied with the pay. This is not the case with Chemical engineering.
