Ques. Why are the placements for B.Tech Civil Engineering so low in NIT Calicut?

● Top Answer By Devesh Saraf on 10 Apr 23

The following are some possible reasons why the placements for B.Tech Civil Engineering may be relatively low compared to other branches at NIT Calicut. Limited job opportunities: Civil engineering is a field that relies heavily on the government and public sector for job opportunities. Therefore, if there are fewer job openings in the public sector, it may result in lower placements for civil engineering students. Specialization: Civil engineering is a vast field with many specializations. It's possible that the students specializing in certain areas within civil engineering, such as construction management or structural engineering, have better job prospects than those in other areas. Regional demand: The demand for civil engineers can vary depending on the region. It's possible that the job market for civil engineering in the region where NIT Calicut is located is not as strong as in other regions. Economic conditions: The economic conditions of the country can also affect the job market for civil engineers. During an economic downturn, there may be a decrease in construction activity and infrastructure projects, which can lead to lower job opportunities for civil engineering graduates. It's important to note that these are just possible reasons and may not necessarily be the only factors affecting the placement statistics of B.Tech Civil Engineering at NIT Calicut....Read more

Ques. Is civil engineering from NIT Calicut good?

● Top Answer By Divayanshu Sinha on 08 Sept 22

NIT Calicut is good for Civil Engineering. The department has an experienced faculty base. The laboratories have the apparatus needed to perform exercises but the instruments are old and don’t work properly. But the lab sessions are very useful, you can learn a great deal by attending these, The Civil Engineering Association also provides good workshops often.  NIT Calicut placements are good for Civil Engineering. Around 75-80% of students get placed through the campus drive. The average CTC offered is around INR 8 LPA. ...Read more

Ques. Is NIT Calicut civil or chemical better in terms of placements and scope in future?

● Top Answer By Atul Mandal on 23 Aug 21

If you are a Civil student, my advice to you would be to prepare for the GATE exam once you are done with your degree. The placement is quite low for core companies. Many students also follow the same. Chemical students are known to focus on jobs and have a good placement in analytics and software-based companies. Many of the top ones also land core jobs. My suggestion would be to check the syllabus and pick the subject you like. You will realize which subject has good scope and what does not. As far as Civil is concerned, most students land jobs at L&T. But, they will make you work a lot and you will not be satisfied with the pay. This is not the case with Chemical engineering....Read more
