Ques. Is it worth studying civil engineering in NIT surathkal?

● Top Answer By Priyadarshini Sen on 23 Mar 21

The curriculum and faculty of NITK civil engineering is one of the most premium ones. The course is well articulated. This particular department makes you fall in love with the branch as well as the college on the whole. The atmosphere and the overall environment of the department brings about a lot of exposure, freedom and learning opportunities to the students. It is all thanks to the friendly and welcoming nature of the faculty here that the students on campus have established American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Chapter. This is of national importance. This is a technical society which has groomed and helped a number of aspiring civil engineers. There are a number of extra-curricular and co-curricular activities happening throughout the year which inculcate leadership qualities and much more. The scope after becoming a civil engineer in today’s world is endless. With the increasing use of drones and smart phones for image processing techniques to keep a check on structural health, post disaster analysis and real time progress of the ongoing construction projects, professionals and experts from all the fields like civil engineering, IT, computer science etc. are always in demand. No student has ever regretted the decision of choosing civil engineering in NITK....Read more

Ques. What should I choose between NIT Surathkal CSE and IIT Kanpur civil chemical

● Top Answer By Aditi Banerjee on 19 Apr 23

I would recommend you choose IIT over NIT any day irrespective of the branch because it is recognized globally. The quality of packages and roles offered are also better and with the right motivation and determination, one can even change his branch to a better one. At IIT Kanpur, I would advise you to go for Chemical rather than Civil. BTech Chemical Engineering combined with Masters in Petroleum Engineering is the highest paying bracket in the USA with more than 74000 Jobs available for outsiders in the Middle East, US, and Canada at a five yr median of $ 18600. Additionally, at IIT Kanpur the ocean of electives to choose from enables you to pursue CS course side by side through certifications in 64/128/256 bit SSL Encryption, Data Structures, and Oracle which have great importance. While CS students can be found everywhere, you will find only a few Chemical Engineers. Concludingly, it’s best to go for IIT Kanpur Chemical for the long term or IIT Kanpur Civil with a branch change to EEE or Mechanical in mind....Read more

Ques. Which NIT is better for civil engineering, NIT Surathkal or NIT Warangal?

● Top Answer By Raghuveer Singh on 20 Mar 21

One of my friends pursued BTech Civil Engineering from NIT Warangal. NITW was reported to be one of the best for Civil Engineering among all the NITs and IITs in India by most of the students. Thus it can be said that Civil engineering at NIT Warangal is better than NIT Surathkal. Here are some of the observations about NIT Warangal that you should know.  The professors and lecturers who completed their Masters and PhDs from some of the best colleges are at the retiring age now. If you are really interested in the Civil branch and want a college with a brand value then NIT Warangal is a perfect choice. As for academics, for engineering degrees college will have very little contribution and you have to work on your own. This is true for almost every engineering college. If you are only concerned about the brand value and not the course, then any NIT would do a good option. for them.  If you have no such interest in the Civil branch then it will be better to look for other branches.  If you want to opt for Civil engineering then you should go for NIT Warangal as this is one of the best colleges for Civil....Read more

Ques. Does NIT Surathkal have a good placement record for civil engineers?

● Top Answer By Pooja Rani on 21 Apr 21

There is very little demand for civil engineers here in the Indian markets. Unfortunately, not many skilled civil engineers are output from any Indian engineering college.  The curriculum of all engineering colleges hasn’t been updated for over a decade and it is not at all in sync with the current needs and requirements of the civil industry. Most of the civil engineers who pass out from the reputed colleges across India are either offered computer programming jobs with a package of 5-10 LPA on an average or become managers in the industry. The reality of civil engineering in India is quite a sad sight to look at and the students are paying with their twisted career choices for it. There is no doubt to the fact that NIT Surathkal is an impressive institute with reputed faculty guiding the students, with an exception for the branch of civil engineering. Either the students are not able to develop sufficient interest in the same or the curriculum is not such that invokes interest or keeps them motivated enough. Moreover, it is also not in accordance with the industrial standards and needs....Read more

On the basis of academics, if a college has to be chosen between NIT Surathkal and NIT Hamirpur for a B.
