Meghalaya GNM 2023 application forms will be released soon. Department of Health & Family Welfare conducts Meghalaya GNM admission 2023 for aspiring students.

Candidates need to pass 10+2 exams with the science stream to be eligible for the GNM course in Meghalaya. They should be a permanent resident of Meghalaya.

As per the tentative schedule, Meghalaya GNM 2023 registration forms will be released in August. The screening test will be held in the last week of September 2023.

Meghalaya GNM Nursing Admission 2023: Eligibility Criteria

Applicants have to fulfil certain eligibility criteria laid down by the admission authorities before applying for admission to GNM courses in Meghalaya.

  • Residency: The candidate should be a permanent resident of the state of Meghalaya. Those who are not able to furnish the proof of their permanent residency will be rejected.
  • Marital Status: To apply for the courses, the applicant must be an unmarried male/female.
  • Age: The minimum age limit is 17 years and the upper age limit is 35 years as on December 31 on the year of applying. For those who are registered Auxiliary Nurse Midwife (ANMs), there is no age limit.
  • Academic Qualification: The candidate must have passed class 12 from a recognized board with an aggregate of at least 40% aggregate marks. Those who are from the State Open Schools which are recognized by the State government and the National Institute of Open School (NIOS) are also eligible to apply. In addition to this, 10+2 candidates with English and at least 40% marks in Vocation Stream-Health Care Science from recognized boards can also apply. 
  • Disability: Only candidates with locomotor disability of around 40% to 50% will be considered for the disability criteria. This will be decided after a comprehensive examination by a certified Medical and Health Officer.

Meghalaya GNM Nursing Admission 2023: Application Process

To put forward their candidature, the applicants need to fill up the application form for the course. This can be done by following the given steps.

  • Applicants have to go to the official website of the Directorate of Health Services, Meghalaya
  • On the homepage, find the notifications section and select the Apply GNM Course tab
  • The applicant will then be forwarded to the application page where they will need to input various details. This includes their personal details, qualification details and other miscellaneous information.
  • After that, the candidate has to upload all the necessary documents and photographs. The size of the photograph should not exceed more than 400 Kb and the size of the documents should not exceed 500 Kb in JPEG format.
  • After uploading all the necessary documents, the applicant needs to go through the captcha key and accept all the declarations.

The applicant needs to upload the following documents in the application form. Applications which do not follow the prescribed norms or have deficient or counterfeit documents will be rejected.

  • Recent Passport size photographs
  • Age proof of any kind (Birth certificate, Class 10 Admit Card, Class 10 Marksheet of Class 12 Marksheet)
  • SC/ST certificate for eligible candidates
  • Permanent Residency Certificate
  • Disability Certificate for eligible candidates

Meghalaya GNM Nursing Admission 2023: Counselling Process

Since there is no exam, direct admissions take place depending on the merit. After the successful submission of the application, the candidate needs to go through the following process.

  • The list of candidates for screening will be published on the official website and its date will be announced
  • After the screening, the merit list will be announced along with the list of candidates who are selected. The list of selected candidates will be displayed on the notice board of Directorate of Health Services and the Office of District Medical and Health Officer. Selected candidates will not be informed individually.
  • The selected candidates have to report to the Deputy Director of Nursing, Directorate of Health to secure his admission on a fixed date.
  • In case a selected candidate fails to do so, he will lose his candidature and the next candidate in the merit list will become eligible.

Ques. Will the students be employed after they finish their training?

Ans. The government has no obligation to employ the passed out trainees and students will have to look for employment, either private or government, by themselves. No service bond comes with the course.

Ques. What are the reasons that can lead to the rejection of an application?

Ans. The candidature of an applicant can be rejected if either deficient or counterfeit documents are enclosed in the documents. If the information in the application and the documents do not match, it can also lead to problems.

Ques. How many screening centres are there?

Ans. There are a total of two screening centres where the screening of the applicants takes place. They are located in Shillong and Tura.

Ques. What are the time slots for screening?

Ans. Candidates who are invited for screening are either given the time slot of 9 am to 12 am and 1 pm to 4 pm. The applicant should show up at the screening centre a bit early than the appointed time as a precaution.

Ques. What are the job prospects after finishing the course?

Ans. Candidates with a GNM degree can apply for the job of Staff Nurse, Health Care Worker, School Nurse, Community Health Nurse, Home Nurse and many other medical jobs.
