It presented an opportunity to move out of my comfort zone back home, and experience new things (people, activities, studies, etc.), the location and beauty of the campus are astounding; there's so much to do here, and everywhere you are, there's just a lot of natural beauty that exists. Obviously, it's one of the best universities on the planet, with a great reputation, I had 3 other high school friends who were in my class, coming to the same university, with all 4 of us opting for Engineering.
I choose the University of British Columbia because it is one of the top engineering colleges in Canada. It had the general engineering program in the first year and subsequently the option to take up Integrated Engineering in the second year. Furthermore, Vancouver is a beautiful city with moderate temperature and amazing people.
I always dreamed of coming to Canada and UBC was my first choice for engineering, considering the campus, ranking, and the Vancouver weather as compared to the rest of Canada.
I've always wanted to pursue psychology and I knew that UBC had a great psychology department as well as research opportunities! I liked whatever I had read and heard about the school. Good faculty, campus, location, facilities, opportunities, etc.
I liked the cost, the ranking, the course selection for my program, the international environment, the emphasis on extracurriculars and mental health services as well as the location.
I chose UBC for its hands-on experience. Since it allows a student to really choose what they want to study. I was able to be part of a design team since the first year that allowed me a lot of insight into engineering and how the future of engineering looks like.
It is a prestigious university around the world and in Canada. The psychology program here at UBC is also very well-known.
