It is a prestigious university around the world and in Canada. The psychology program here at UBC is also very well-known.
Course Curriculum
The courses are neatly organized and the professors are very good at articulating ideas using simple language or language that is suitable for undergraduate students. Courses, in general, are heavy loaded with assignments and exams, but definitely manageable and challenges you intellectually.
Exams
I submit my resume, answered 3 questions that the university asks, wrote 300 words each. I also highlighted my volunteer experience.
Placement
There are some alumni networkings every year but I did not attend them as often.
Internship
I have applied for co-op but got rejected. I do work part-time as a language instructor at a local organization and a behavioral interventionist.
Events
The campus is huge and amazing with lots of recreation centers, gyms, and pools. The campus is near the beach and close to nature. The food is in general less attractive.
Fees
Around 3500 CAD per 3 credits courses (you need 120 credits to graduate).
Scholarship
I received International Outstanding Aware for my entrance to the university. It was automatically being considered after completing the application to the university.
Faculty
More females in our faculty, also the biggest faculty on campus. The resources are plenty but too big to have a sense of community. Less occupational opportunities provided for students such as Co-op.
Hostel
I lived as student residents the first year and it is great. No kitchens with shared bathroom. The rooms are small but affordable. Upper year year-round residences are competitive. Depend on the room types, it can costs 800- 1300 CAD per month from the 2nd year and onward. These rooms include kitchens and shared bathrooms or private bathrooms. Some buildings are newly built but they are more costly as well.
