Here are some of the preparation tips to do well in JEE Main Mathematics.
You should also prioritize some topics which are more scoring.
Calculus -
Almost 33% of the paper is from calculus. So, you can’t skip these topics. Integration questions are usually the most difficult, don’t omit these. Your basic knowledge of calculus should be perfect.
Vector -
It is an important section and questions from vector are usually easier and scoring. Try to practice all possible types of questions from this section.
Algebra -
Matrics and Determinants are important. Cover the basics of Permutation and Combination as there will be direct application in probability. You should also prioritize sequence series.
Coordinate Geometry -
For the first two chapters clear the basics and it will be manageable. The rest of the three topics are time-consuming.
Prioritize these topics and adopt a strategy that works best for you.
HC Verma is a great book for starting your preparation and building your concepts in Physics. The theory is well written with good objective problems given for every chapter. However, you should consider the fact that the majority of the students that are preparing for JEE are following HC Verma and solving these questions. So, you can’t expect good marks, just by following this book. Go through your NCERT books, coaching materials, previous years’ questions along with HC Verma books to do well in JEE Main.
JEE Main is a test conducted by National Testing Agency for students who aspire to pursue undergraduate courses in top engineering colleges in India. It is the first phase of the IIT Joint Entrance Examination. It is conducted in two sessions. You can either take the examination in January or in April. Through this examination, you can seek admission in IITs, CFITs, NITs, and other Govt. funded technical institutes. Also, the top 2,50,000 students from JEE Main are qualified to apply for JEE Advanced.
I had the opportunity to ask a professor about the setting of the JEE paper. The answer he gave me has been summed up below:
The setting and pattern of JEE paper are highly unpredictable as it is the joint work of many professors. The last time IIT Roorkee set the paper, there was a lot of logical reasoning and assertions, but still, no one can be sure.
Every IIT has had its fair share of fame and so has IIT Kharagpur. People choose any institute preferred by the masses and not because they want to join it genuinely. This is exactly why computer science, electrical, mechanical, and chemical are the most preferred branches.
Once IIT Kharagpur was the most preferred IIT but with changing times, the choice shifted to city life and people started preferring Delhi, Madras, or Kanpur. People are hesitant about choosing KGP also because of the very less industry touch and its remote location.
Today, Kharagpur is no longer the most preferred IIT and there are hardly a few IITians from the eastern part of the country. Despite that, IIT KGP will continue to carry on its legacy and be the home to exceptional talents that are not just after grades but much more. It will continue to give birth to brilliant people in academia, industry, entrepreneurship, and even extra-academics.
JEE MAINS 2023 cutoff at MITS Gwalior for Computer Science Engineering is 69794. To be honest your rank of 135000 is not at par with the requirements and your chances of getting admission are very poor. Anyone who wants to take CSE MITS Gwalior should have a rank of around 60-70k. Your rank is out of limits and has zero chances unless you belong to SC or ST Category.
My advice to you would be to go for IT instead which might be possible with your rank. Stay at the top throughout the first year and then request a branch change since there will be 2–3 vacancies in CSE after one year. Even if you fail to get into CSE, you can stay there and avail similar benefits. The placement and curriculum are almost the same with the only difference being in fees and some subjects in the final year.
So unless you belong to a reserved category, your chances of getting into CSE at MITS Gwalior are less than 50%.
The cutoff marks for JEE Mains 2023 are the minimum marks required by the candidates to qualify for the JEE Mains 2023 exam and also for participating in JEE Advanced.

The JEE Main cut off 2023 marks is of two types namely qualifying cutoff and admission cutoff. You can check the expected JEE Main 2023 cut-off percentile created based on the difficulty level of the exam and previous years' JEE Cutoff marks from the above table.
The authorities will release the qualifying cutoff of JEE Main 2023 along with the declaration of JEE Main result 2023.
Your percentile of 80.65 does not guarantee a seat in NITs and IITs at least based on the expected cutoff. You will have to wait for the final result and see how things work out.
Yes, you will get CSE at NIT Jalandhar if you fulfill the Home State quota. But your chances of getting CSE reduce to almost 70% if you are expecting a seat from the Other State quota.

This is the seat allocation statistics of a special round of counselling held this year.
I don't think any of the options stated above are worth it. They will consume more time, and cost you a lot of money and effort. So rather than partial drop, I recommend you only drop the year and fully concentrate on the JEE syllabus. Now you have JEE exams and NEET twice a year which gives you more chances of cracking it. I have listed 4 probabilities and their possible consequences:
Not dropping a year and studying in an NIT and preparing for JEE along with it and not being able to crack it is Waste of time and an excessive study load.
Studying in an NIT and preparing for JEE along and cracking it: Only a waste of money
Fully dropping a year and concentrating entirely only on JEE and not being able to crack it is Waste of time but you are lucky enough to give a second shot the same year.
Dropping a year, fully concentrating on cracking the JEE exams, and cracking it: Your time and efforts are well invested.
The ultimate choice is yours. But dropping a year is better than a partial drop I guess.
It will be difficult to get good government colleges with an SC category rank of 24256 in JEE Main. Seat availability depends on various factors such as competition, cutoff trends, total number of students applying, etc. You can apply for the counseling and wait till the spot round admission. Many colleges offer spot-round admissions for vacant seats.
