Why do JEE toppers prefer IIT Kharagpur less than the other IITs?

Every IIT has had its fair share of fame and so has IIT Kharagpur. People choose any institute preferred by the masses and not because they want to join it genuinely. This is exactly why computer science, electrical, mechanical, and chemical are the most preferred branches. 

Once IIT Kharagpur was the most preferred IIT but with changing times, the choice shifted to city life and people started preferring Delhi, Madras, or Kanpur. People are hesitant about choosing KGP also because of the very less industry touch and its remote location.

Today, Kharagpur is no longer the most preferred IIT and there are hardly a few IITians from the eastern part of the country. Despite that, IIT KGP will continue to carry on its legacy and be the home to exceptional talents that are not just after grades but much more. It will continue to give birth to brilliant people in academia, industry, entrepreneurship, and even extra-academics.
