Which of these colleges are best for mtech in VLSI, NIT Goa, NIT Delhi, NIT Nagpur, NIT Bhopal, NIT Kurukshetra, NIT Durgapur please provide priority wise order among those?

SB

Studied at Vellore Institute of Technology

The biggest problem with most industries is that they don’t support students for Internships. However, India's Top 3 NITs due to its location advantage can still get away with it but mid-tier NIT students are suffering. So I would suggest you look for an institute that can provide an Internship. In order to get jobs in Semiconductor Companies, an Internship is a very effective tool.

Here is a brief comparison of the institutes.

Parameters  NIT Goa NIT Delhi  NIT Nagpur NIT Bhopal NIT Kurukshetra NIT Durgapur
Tuition fees  1.44 LPA 96,866  INR 1.25 LPA INR 1.49 LPA INR 70,000 INR 1.49 LPA
Placement average  94.64% 95% 100% 82% 89% 71.92%
Average CTC  INR 7.35 LPA INR 7 LPA INR 6 LPA INR 7.56 LPA INR 11.7 LPA INR 9.09 LPA

Your preference order should be as follows.

NIT Bhopal > NIT Nagpur~> NIT Kurukshetra ~> NIT Durgapur > NIT Delhi ~> NIT Goa.

Is it legal to pursue a dual graduation degree simultaneously? One from a regular B.Sc from Magadh University and the 2nd one a BA from the IGNOU?

PP
Pratik Parikh Posted On : April 13th, 2023
Lives in Bangalore

As per the University Grants Commission (UGC) guidelines, pursuing two-degree programs at the same time is not allowed. The UGC's policy on minimum standards of instruction for the grant of the first degree through formal education does not permit a student to pursue two-degree programs simultaneously from the same university or different universities or institutions. However, students can pursue the one-degree program and one diploma/certificate program or two diploma/certificate programs at the same time.

Pursuing a regular B.Sc degree from Magadh University and a BA degree from IGNOU at the same time may not be legal. It is advisable to check with both universities' respective authorities to confirm their policies on dual-degree programs. It's essential to note that any violation of the UGC's guidelines can lead to disciplinary action, and the degrees earned through such means may not be recognized by the authorities.

Which is better, MBA from Jamia Millia Islamia or Jaipuria Institute Of Management, Lucknow?

AB
Akriti Banerjee Posted On : July 11th, 2023

To be frank, none of the institutes you mentioned are worth joining for an MBA. Jamia is a bad choice for MBA and is likely a tier III institution while Jaipuria is probably tier IV. Jamia Millia Islamia average package for MBA 2022 is INR 8.8 LPA while Jaipuria Institute of Management's average package (2021-2023) is INR 12.34 LPA. The ROI offered is extremely low considering the fact that the cost of an MBA program is almost double the pay package you receive.

MBA is best taught at tier-1 and tier-2 colleges like IIM AND FMS. If you go for an average B School you will end up with a useless degree and a loan to repay.

However, if you are left with only these two options, then Jamia is still a better choice than Jaipuria as the fees charged are less.

I am from AP. I got EE in IIT Mandi and ECE in BITS Hyderabad. I am affordable to pay money. Which is best?

RT
Raktim Tarafdar Posted On : June 30th, 2023

It is completely based on your core interests. Both institutes are well renowned. The EE program at IIT Mandi will help you improve your potential using the resourceful classes offered here.

IIT Mandi guarantees the best placement support. Usually, the students prefer CSC rather than EE, but when we look into the curriculum of EE, it has a significant part in electronic studies.

Other than this, the most significant feature of IIT Mandi is its branch change policy. Most of the students prefer a branch change after the first year. You can also be a part of it if you have an interest in coding and software. So, you can opt for IIT Mandi based on your interest in the core subject.

During weekends, most students of Mysore University plan getaways to nearby places like Chamundi Hill, Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens, Devaraja Market, Namdroling Monestry, Somnathpur Temple, etc. Visit Mysore Palace on Sunday evenings. The palace will be illuminated and often there are many activities and cultural activities.

St. Philomena’s Church, Lalitha Mahal, and Jaganmohan Palace have wonderful architecture. Kukkarahalli Lake is the perfect place to sit idly and relax.

How can one prepare for board exams as well as the IPM exam conducted by IIM Indore?

SS
Shristi Singh Posted On : January 22nd, 2024
MBA from Indian Institute of Management Indore (2020)

Here are some tips to guide you for your IPM exam preparation alongside your board exam prep-

  1. It is absolutely not necessary to go for any specialized coaching for your IPM exam. It does not require any ‘special’ preparation. In fact, a lot more students clear the exam without going for any special coaching.
  2. Prepare well for your board exams. A good knowledge of important concepts will help you during the personal interview round, and also boost your confidence. Give special attention to Math.
  3. The aptitude test has a big chunk of questions on Mathematical ability (it does not include calculus). The question pattern isn’t definite. So practice your 12th level Math well and you’ll get through the written exam with much more ease.
  4. As for PI, read the newspaper well after your board exams. This will help improve your English on the side.
  5. Practice the entrance question papers from previous years. Those are available on the IIM Indore website.
  6. Instead of grabbing huge books on English and Mental Ability, just read a lot.
  7. Have some solid academic or extracurricular achievements to increase your selection chances, and give you an edge above others.

These are some tips that you can follow for smooth and worry-free preparation of your IPM Exam alongside your board exam.

Does ISI conducts separate exam for Delhi and Kolkata campus for MSQE course?

RG
Rahul Gupta Posted On : September 6th, 2021
MSQE from Indian Statistical Institute (2019)

One of my friends graduated from ISI, Delhi Campus. So I might be able to give you some information about it.

  • For the Kolkata and Delhi campuses, I don’t believe there are separate MSQE exams.
  • When filling out the application, you must choose between Kolkata and Delhi.
  • If nothing has changed since 2009, which I assume it has, you will only have to take one exam and select your campus on the application form.

However, in Delhi and Kolkata, interviews are performed at the relevant locations. That is, students who are chosen in a Delhi interview are admitted to ISI Delhi, and vice versa.

Both, REVA University and Presidency University are new. However, on an overall scale, the former is better.

  • REVA has an excellent faculty pool. The faculty members are well-experienced and friendly.
  • The university follows a well-balanced curriculum. Emphasis is placed on hands-on learning experience.
  • It has a good placement record. During REVA University placements 2021, more than 450 recruiting companies took part in the campus drive. The highest CTC offered was INR 24 LPA.

Is it worth going for a PGDM in IMT Hyderabad?

Sabeer Chalana Posted On : September 4th, 2023

It totally depends on your career plan. Most of the students opting for PGDM either plan to settle in corporate sessions or else in startups

Corporate Career – IMT Hyderabad would be the better choice if you want to get involved in a corporate career.

Startups – IMT Hyderabad is not actually good for startups. It is worthless to spend 15-18 lakh here. It is good to opt for a distance mode or choose IIM for a business career

In both cases, success depends on your hard work and determination
