What are the chances to convert IIM Sambalpur, if my waiting is 62 EWS category in the fifth list?

S
Sagardeep Posted On : February 13th, 2023
IIM SBP PGP'23 || CAT '21- 98.29%ile || CAT '20- 95.8%ile

It is currently too early to provide a definitive answer regarding the outcome of your question. However, there are cases where students were in a similar situation as you and become anxious as well as desperate to want a seat. It is advised to have patience and go with the flow.

There was a case where a student had a waitlist number of 2XX, and no one was convinced that it is possible to convert at that number. However, due to various factors such as the uncertainty caused by Covid, online classes, and other factors, the waitlists may go even further than in previous years. He received an admission offer to IIM Sambalpur, which was something he had been waiting for.

There may be many factors that come into play such as external and internal factors that may influence the process, such as batch strength. It is important to keep an open mind and have patience as the outcome may be different from what you expect.

Will a 20-year-old be considered for admission into the ISI Kolkata BStat or are younger ones preferred more?

CS
Chibu Sharma Posted On : September 3rd, 2021

First of all, please do not worry about the age limit because as a 20-year old you'll definitely be considered for entrance exams. There is a rule which states that you cannot appear more than the fixed number of times for the same exam, but there's no rule which bars you because of your age.

You'll find that you will have seniors in your batch too and maybe those with similar concerns, such as yours.

As for the admission process, you do not have to worry about looks, age, number of years, height, weight, or skin color. Except for your appearance and behavior, the rest is overlooked. Also, you must be fast at calculation and logic to do well in the interview.

Which is a better profile, 92/93/62 or 95/83.6/71 for IIMS, XLRI or FMS? (or is it more or less the same?)

MD

MBA, Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (2019)

In my opinion, there is not much of a difference as it lies almost on the same line. If I were to point out the flaws among the profiles, I would say 62 for the first, 71, and 83.6 for the second.

  • Be ready to face some intensely fierce competition as there would be students better than you.
  • Your efforts would be compared with their efforts.
  • Understand that various colleges have their own criteria of selection which includes a grade-scale they approve of - not more or less. You cannot negotiate on that.
  • Apart from that, if you have managed to perform well at your CAT and have a high percentile, you can be confident about expecting a call from C/FMS.
  • In case you have a brilliant XAT percentile, XLRI would give you a call for an interview.
  • Since IIM A/B has really hard academic criteria, it would be difficult to get into it.

It is not entirely impossible, but do not have too many high hopes. Chances are slim, not nil. If you work hard to secure good scores, it will be easier.

NY
Nisha Yadav Posted On : August 16th, 2021
PGDIE Operatioal Management & Supply Chain Management, National Institute of Industrial Engineering

To get admission into NITIE Mumbai, you are required to fill out the online application form available on the official website of the institution. If you get shortlisted for further rounds, you would get an invitation for the Group discussion and Personal Interview rounds. The sessions are usually half a day or a full day long. You can check out your name in the list of the shortlisted applicants to ensure your candidature at the institution.

The institute has made it mandatory that the students are from a technical background.

There are two ways you take admission at NITIE.

  • Through GATE, you can apply for PGDIE, PGDMM, and PGDPM programs.
  • Through CAT, you are eligible to apply for the PGDIM and PGDM programs offered by the institution.

Other than the GATE and CAT examination scores, you will be tested based on the following.

  • Total Work Experience (0 to 4 years is considered to be appropriate for most cases)
  • The Engineering College from where you have obtained your UG degree and Marks obtained.
  • Percentage obtained in Class 12th.
  • Percentage obtained in Class 10th Examination.
  • Interviews and Group discussion rounds involved in the admission process also have an essential role in determining the possibility of your admission at the institute.

These are the thighs NITIE considers for admission.

Why are more students coming to Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) university each year despite getting less help in terms of study materials and faculty?

LD
Lana Dey, Posted On : October 28th, 2021
B.Tech in Electrical Engineering from Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (2014)

Every student will have a different reason and it could be anything. It cannot be said for sure why more students are joining Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT), but we can at least come up with certain possibilities.

  • KIIT offers ample study material to the students. The students are also interested enough to go through the books.
  • The library provides both hard and soft copies of reading materials.
  • Students enter a college hoping for a lot of things but ultimately realize it is not the college but their skills that will be given more importance.
  • The faculty at this university is excellent and acts as facilitators.
  • Reading and self-study will help you broaden your thinking and help you concentrate more to understand the concepts.

Concentrate on yourself and not on placement records, alumni network, or faculty. Prepare yourself to be skillful so that be it any college you graduate from, it is your work that will speak for you.

If a student is not from IIT or NIT or any good named college, can he/she survive in IIM's or XLRI or TISS Mumbai?

HS
Hritik Sharma Posted On : June 28th, 2021
Studied at Tata Institute of Social Sciences (2020)

Many students at TISS Mumbai are not from IIT or NIT. They have completed the course and are doing well in their careers. If they can do it, you can too. One thing that all HRM & LR students at TISS have in common is that they are all hardworking. I hope you understand what it takes to survive at TISS Mumbai.

The MBA curriculum is not difficult but some programs simply have a heavier course load. However, much of the coursework consists of group projects and presentations. It is extremely impossible to fail an MBA course. To accomplish this, you must make a colossal blunder.

The majority of the hype and hoopla surrounding MBA intensity is generated by students at such colleges. So don’t fall for it and keep focusing on your goals that’s it.

Will IIM Bangalore still survive if Bangalore ceases to be a liveable city as suggested by numerous reports? Should I prefer IIM Kozhikode over it, as the future of Bangalore looks bleak?

MC
Mausumi Chatterjee Posted On : July 31st, 2021
Studied Finance & Marketing at Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode

Don’t choose the institute based on the city. As you will barely get to go out of the campus because of the academic loads in both the colleges.

IIM Bangalore offers the best student exchange programs. This college has helped a lot of students in building their careers. Most of the alumni of IIM Bangalore are settled abroad. So, it is definitely a good option for your studies. Also, it will take over 10 years for Bangalore to be completely unlivable. So, you don’t need to worry about that for the duration of your course.

However, if you want a pollution-free campus then IIM Kozhikode will be a better choice for you. The hostel rooms of this college are very good along with food. You will find a lot of learning opportunities over there.

Choose according to your convenience and don’t take City as a major parameter for your decision.

What should I choose between IIT Patna, IIT Indore, and IIT Bhubaneswar for CSE branch?

AS
Arjuna Sethi Posted On : August 13th, 2020
M.Tech from Indian Institute of Technology, Bhubaneswar (2019)

All mentioned institutes were founded in the year 2008 except IIT Indore which was founded one year later in 2009. Reputed companies such as Google, Microsoft, Facebook, Samsung, Cognizant, Amazon, Cisco offer jobs to students of these institutions.

The CSE branch at IIT Indore is comparable to the CSE branch of older IITs. Also, it is the highest recruiting branch at IIT Indore with more than 98% of students were placed in 2019. An average package of 16.06 LPA and the highest package of 43 LPA was received in the year 2019. IIT Patna recorded 100% placement for the CSE branch with an average package of 16.76 LPA. The highest package received was around 40 LPA (on-campus). Similarly, 100% placement was recorded in the CSE branch of IIT Bhubaneswar with an average package of 11.44 LPA. The highest domestic CTC offered was 39 LPA in the year 2019.

Apart from placements, CSE department of IIT Indore has 15 research laboratories such as AI (artificial intelligence), Computer Networks, Soft Computing, Database, and Information system. The coding environment of IIT Indore is very good. That is why its CSE department has ranked 4th in all over India. IIT Patna also has a Software lab, Network security lab, Advance lab, and Hardware lab. Among new IITs, IIT Indore and IIT Patna have come a long way in CSE branch. The CSE department of IIT Bhubaneswar is also equipped with research laboratories such as Systems Laboratory, Algorithms Laboratory, Computer Architecture Laboratory, Digital Signal Processing and Embedded Systems Laboratory. The department also offers specialized elective courses such as Software reliability, Artificial Intelligence.

IIT Indore has an edge over these institutions for CSE. But which IIT you should choose is entirely up to you so make the decision according to your convenience.
