Which college is better IIM Kozhikode or SJMSOM? I have a work experience of 23 months with average academics.
Definitely, both the B-Schools are great but IIMK should be your first choice. Unless we are discussing Operation then I would advise you to opt for SJMSOM.
You will have trouble with placements due to your average academics as most of your peers will have better academic records. You will always get opportunities to make your profile better. You can improve your profile by winning competitions, holding significant PORs, and getting an excellent grade in your MBA programme.

Which B-school is better for Finance, IMT Ghaziabad or NMIMS Mumbai? Considering the placements, profiles offered and ROI in the first place?
NMIMS Mumbai is better for Finance specialization. It has an excellent Finance faculty. In general NMIMS placements are better. During 2022 placement drive, students received the average CTC of around INR 23.07 LPA. CRISIL, HDFC Bank, EY, Goldman Sachs, etc. are among the major recruiters that take part in the campus drive frequently. Due to the small batch-size, every student get good opportunities during placements.
Students of NMIMS get the locational advantage. Being located in Mumbai, the finance capital of the country, it’s easier for students to get internships, projects, and placement opportunities.
What should I choose: NIT, Surathkal (Mechanical) or ICT, Mumbai (Chemical)?
It’s difficult to determine which institute is better as the courses in question are different. However, given below are information about the two courses which may help you make the decision.
NIT Surathkal:
NIT Surathkal is among the oldest of the NIT’s and the college has an amazing faculty for Mechanical Engineering most of the teachers that are in NIT Surathkal have acquired Ph.D. degrees and a minimum teaching average of 2 years.
Admission:
- The admission to the BTech Mechanical Engineering at the institute is through JEE Mains.
- In 2019 the closing JEE Main cutoff for Mechanical Engineering was 8980 (other states) and 14895 (home state).
- The first-year course fees are 1.53 lakhs.
Placement:
- Some of the top recruiters that come to the college include Honeywell, Axis Bank, Myntra Logistics, Amazon, McAfee, Samsung r&d, HSBC technology, Wells Fargo, Microsoft, Byjus, City Bank, Oyo, Epsilon India, Wipro India, Walmart, Snap lab.
- The average and highest CTC offered to the students were 14.5 LPA and 39 LPA respectively.
ICT Mumbai:
The engineering department of ICT Mumbai consists of 134 accomplished faculty members. All but four of them hold PhDs. The faculty of ICT Mumbai is highly qualified and is alumni of reputed institutions.
Admission:
- BTech Chemical Engineering admission is through JEE Mains.
- In 2019 the required cutoff for Chemical Engineering was 429.
- The first-year course fees are INR 85,350.
Placement:
- The highest CTC received by the students was 14 LPA, while the average CTC was 3.5 LPA.
- Some of the top recruiters that come to the college include Dow chemical, ExxonMobil India, Seltzer pumps India ltd.
Therefore, if a student has to choose a college they can look up to the criteria mentioned above.
Considering most aspects, which is to be preferred for metallurgy: NIT Rourkela or NIT Surathkal?
I have friends in both the institutes namely NIT Surathkal and NIT Rourkela. Comparing the reviews I got from them NIT Rourkela seems to be a better option than NIT Surathkal. The primary reason is that its location in the Orissa-Jhansi belt improves the quality of core placements. The faculty however is the same everywhere so that point isn't comparable. Honestly speaking, Metaullurty is a risky branch irrespective of whichever NIT you are getting unless it's an IIT. So, I will advise you to go for CS in new IIIts rather than Metallurgy in top NITs.
It's illogical to go for a risky branch just for the NIT tag because, in the end, it's your branch that opens doors for opportunities and shapes your career.
So, choose wisely!
Which one is best for operations management between Welingkar, Dalmia, SIES, PUMBA, MET, IES, and Chetana?
PGDM is Postgraduate Diploma in Management program which is available at each of the colleges that are mentioned above. But if we take into account all of the available specializations, I would say Welingkar is the best as it provides PGDM programs in the areas of Retail Healthcare, Rural Finance, and Human Resource Operations and Operations.
You should consider Welingkar as it has good placements and offers a good course curriculum and after that, you can give IES as your second priority.
Which is a better option for a B School, MSRIM or Alliance University?
It would be advised to not opt for Alliance University unless you want to pursue an MBA in marketing specialization. Even opting for the marketing stream at Alliance is a tough bet to choose.
Alliance University:
- For the two years of college life, you will have a great time in the university with a very good infrastructure and highly qualified faculty members.
- However, the campus placement at the university is not that good. You will have a tough time only after joining those companies that come for the recruitment.

You can get the same job and same salary packages even by spending 7-8 lakhs instead of 15 lakhs in other private colleges. So, Alliance University is not a good option for pursuing MBA.
Which is better Chandigarh University or DAV College Chandigarh?
It is dependent on the course you wish to enroll in. Some courses are quite popular at Chandigarh University, whereas others are popular at DAV College.
If you are looking for better infrastructure and placements, Chandigarh University should be preferred over DAV. It has been awarded an A+ grade by NAAC and is the only state-private university to be accredited by NAAC.
The curriculum followed at CU is industry-oriented and based on market standards. The level of exposure you will receive here is exceptional with numerous opportunities. Apart from this, Chandigarh University has tie-ups with international institutions.

What should I take, mechanical engineering at NIT Jalandhar or electrical at PEC Chandigarh?
The choice of course depends on your own interests. But as far as the college is concerned, I recommend you go for PEC. It’s way better than NIT Jalandhar. Some advantages PEC enjoys over NIT Jalandhar are

What is better, ECE at NIT Bhopal or mechanical at MNNIT Allahabad?
MNNIT Allahabad is ranked 48th among top engineering institutes in India by MHRD’s 2020 NIRF rankings. The 2 years of M.Tech specializations offered by MNNIT in Mechanical Engineering (ME) include Computer-Aided Design & Manufacturing, Design, Production Engineering, Product Design & Development, and Part-Time Production Engineering.
NIT Bhopal is ranked 65th among top engineering institutes in India by MHRD’s 2020 NIRF rankings. It offers 4 years B.Tech in ECE with a total of 139 seats currently. The 2 years M.Tech in ECE offers specializations in two fields viz., Digital communication and VLSI & embedded systems. The entire faculty of the ECE department holds a doctorate in their respective fields.
Admission Process and Cut-off:
- Both the NITs consider JEE Main score for B.Tech and GATE score for M.Tech admissions.Admission for B.Tech is offered via JoSAA and that for M.Tech via CCMT.

The choice of opting for either ME at MNNIT Allahabad or ECE at NIT Bhopal entirely lies with the students wanting to pursue it. Both of them are entirely different courses offered by nationally ranked institutes, hence should be opted by considering the stated facts and statistics.
