Should I take production engineering at MNNIT Allahabad or mechanical engineering at NIT Jalandhar?
Mechanical is an option at NIT Jalandhar.
Although MNNIT Allahabad has a better brand name than NIT Jalandhar, the production branch has many disadvantages when compared to the mechanical branch.
Unless someone specifically mentions Production Engineering, you will have to compete with mechanical students at NIT Allahabad during placements and off-campus interviews. When compared to Mechanical, there are fewer job opportunities.
There may now be one or two PSUs with separate vacancies for Production students. Mechanical paper is required in order to obtain PSUs, which are extremely difficult to crack. GATE is very important for core branches, and Mechanical has a high level of competition compared to other branches. Only if you intend to change your branch after one year should you enroll in NIT Allahabad; otherwise, do not.
Which is better, SPJIMR or MDI?
SPJIMR is undoubtedly better than MDI. Comparatively, SPJIMR has lower fees and a better ROI than MDI. How does IIM Indore stand out in comparison with IIM Ahmedabad?
Having known some students of both IIM Indore and Ahmedabad, I can say that both are excellent and well-reputed colleges. Your answer can be segregated into four different categories ranging from peers, academics, faculty and finally, the one everyone is highly interested in – placements:
Your peers:
- The people in your cohort will all be very intelligent and hardworking folks on both campuses.
- The basic numbers are obviously high but that is the requirement of the college every year.
- The talent pool is equally high in IIM Indore as compared to IIM Ahmedabad.
- Many students from the college have won multiple B school competitions while competing directly with IIM A, B, C, and FMS among others.
- This is the main way to judge how good your cohort and peers are across various B-schools.
Academics:
- IIM Indore acquires its inspiration from IIM Ahmedabad.
- A lot of the courses offered at IIM Ahmedabad are also offered at IIM Indore.
- IIM Indore campus also has a finance lab that was inspired by IIM Calcutta.
- The opportunities for learning and exploring various fields have also increased quite a lot.
Faculty:
- As far as IIM Ahmedabad is concerned, the faculty is splendid and well versed since the school is much older.
- It would not exactly be fair to compare the faculty at IIM Indore with IIM A.
- But IIM Indore faculty have also worked with IIM A faculty. Especially the senior faculty.
- In a few years, the same faculty will be in touch with you and you will get to experience learning under their wing.
Placements:
- As far as IIM Ahmedabad is concerned, the college publishes a complete audit by CRISIL where they claim their average placements to be INR 18 to 20 lakhs per annum.
- The placement report generated by IIM Indore is not audited and is generated by the college internally.
- They claim the placements to be INR 14 lakhs per annum but this might not be entirely true.

This comparison is slightly unfair as IIM A has better ROI and is comparable to world B-schools whereas IIM Indore is a good business school in central India.

I am getting IT at IIIT Allahabad and IT at MNNIT Allahabad. Which is better given that I have no coding experience?
Both the IIIT Allahabad as well as MNNIT Allahabad are excellent institutes in their own way and there may not be a clear winner among the two. Here’s a comparison of the two institutes based on a few important parameters which can be of help.
Legacy:
- MNNIT Allahabad: The computer science department is one of the biggest in the country. Here IT is considered equivalent to CSE. Also, it is a 60-year-old institute so has a better legacy than the former MLNREC.
- IIIT Allahabad: It has a legacy of just over 22 years. But still, it is a widely respected institution in its own way.
Infrastructure:
- MNNIT Allahabad: Infrastructure is inversely proportional to legacy and thus it has average facilities such as libraries, crammed hostel rooms, canteen, non-functional swimming pools, etc.
- IIIT Allahabad: It boasts of state-of-the-art modern infrastructure being a newer institute.
Placements:
- MNNIT Allahabad: For the year 2019, 95.56% of the total 90 eligible students in the IT branch were placed with an average and highest salary of INR 12.97 LPA and INR 36 LPA respectively.

Mess:
- MNNIT Allahabad: They serve only vegetarian food which is really difficult for non-vegetarians.

At MNNIT Allahabad the seniors are quite helpful. They conduct coding classes or doubt clearing classes for juniors during the weekend.
In the end, both the colleges will give you many things, some good and some not so good. But the most important thing is how you utilize them properly.
Which should I choose among IIIT Lucknow, IIIT Bangalore or IIIT Delhi?
On an overall scale, IIIT Lucknow is a good option, despite being a new institute. Although, all three of these institutes are reputed. While choosing one of these, you should prioritize your choice of branch.
- Besides CS and IT, IIIT Bangalore started offering CSAI. It is a BTech in CS with an Artificial Intelligence specialization. AI is in huge demand these days.
- All three of these IIITs have decent curriculum, which is designed according to industry trends and needs.
- Despite being a new IIIT, IIIT Lucknow had good placements over the last few years. IIIT Lucknow placements 2022 had the highest CTC of INR 1.2 CPA. The placement rate for this year was 100%.
- All three colleges have good coding culture. From IIIT Lucknow, a total of 5 students were selected for GSoC 2021. IIIT Lucknow also has a Github campus expert.
These advantages make IIIT Lucknow a good choice.
I am going to join a BTech CSE this season. Which will be a better option for me, IMS Ghaziabad or Galgotias University?
You can confidently say that IMSEC in Ghaziabad is a better educational institution compared to Galgotias University (GU), based on your personal education experience. The reasons why IMSEC is superior are:
- Firstly, when it comes to placements, IMSEC has a better track record compared to GU. This means that students who graduate from IMSEC are more likely to secure good job opportunities in their respective fields.
- Secondly, GU has a tendency to charge additional fees from students, which is not the case with IMSEC. This means that students at IMSEC do not have to worry about additional financial burdens during their academic years.
- Thirdly, although GU offers a diverse range of courses such as B.Tech, B.A, BCA, etc., some of these courses such as BA and BCA tend to have a large number of local students. This can sometimes lead to a disruptive learning environment.
- Finally, GU has a history of not returning the security deposit to students after they complete their course, whereas IMSEC has a clean record in this regard. This shows that IMSEC is a more reliable and responsible educational institution.

Which is better academically DIT Dehradun or NIT Sikkim?
NIT Sikkim will be better among these. It offers better academics and has a good faculty base. NIT Sikkim placements are pretty good, especially for branches like CSE, and ECE. The major recruiters that frequently visit the campus placement are Deloitte, TCS, Godrej, Capgemini, etc. According to NIT Sikkim placements 2021, the placement rate for BTech branches was 72.8%. The ‘NIT’ tag is an added perk of attending the institute.
