NIT Durgapur is one of the top engineering colleges in India and ranked 46th by NIRF 2019. On the other hand, HBTU or HBTI Kanpur has been ranked 166th by NIRF 2020. HBTI Kanpur is AICTE approved and affiliated to AKTU.

Given below is a comparison of the CSE program offered by NIT Durgapur and HBTI Kanpur.

The fees of HBTI Kanpur are lower than NIT Durgapur for the CSE course. However, from the placement perspective, NIT Durgapur is better. Most of the companies hire students from NIT’s and IIT’s; hence there is an advantage of pursuing CSE from NIT Durgapur. NIT Durgapur has alumni working in top MNCs like Google, Facebook, Amazon, etc. Also, the NIT brand name has more value and offers many opportunities.

IIIT Sri City is way too better when compared to NIT Andhra Pradesh considering the fact that both of these are fairly new institutions. IIIT Sri City is older when compared to NIT-AP. Academic facilities are amazing IIIT Sri City and there is an on-campus hostel facility too. I have a few friends at IIIT Sri City, and I have heard good things about the institute from them.

NMIMS is in Mumbai, which makes it a professional hub. whereas XLRI is in Jharkhand and IIM Shillong is in Shillong. It ranks 30 on the NIRF 2020 rankings, XLRI on 9th, and NMIMS on 13th place.

Students need 50% and above marks in a bachelor's degree from a recognized university and the qualification of the CAT/MAT/XAT/GMAT entrance exam to take admission into the program. An interview/Group Discussion may follow as additional admission criteria.

Infrastructure and Faculty

• IIM Shillong, XLRI, and NMIMS have libraries, computer centers, seminar halls, auditoriums, sports facilities, and hostels.
• NMIMS has a video streaming facility on each floor. IIM Shillong has WMN in its dormitories and a common reading room as well.
• There are about 5-10 faculty members for the HR program at these institutes and they have been recruited after qualifying either the UGC Net exam or possess a Ph.D. 
• Apart from this visiting faculty from universities abroad like the Dauphine University, University of Geneva etc; and business magnates come as guest lecturers from time to time.

Placement 2020

IIM Shillong 

• The institute saw recruitments by 62 companies among which were Tata Group, Deloitte, And Aditya Birla Group. 
• The highest CTC given was INR 28 LPA, and the average given to the top 20% of students was 22 LPA. 
• Operations and HR students were given 20 LPA average CTC.

XLRI

• The HR program saw 100% placements this year. 
• McKinsey and company, Goldman Sachs, and Aditya Birla group were the main recruiters. 
• The highest CTC of 58 LPA was offered by an international company. 
• 24 new recruiters including Myntra also joined this year.

NMIMS

• HR batch saw visits from 40+ fortune 500 companies and the top 200 were made an offer of 22.8 LPA. 
• The highest domestic CTC given was 38.57 LPA, and the highest international CTC given was 58 LPA.

Students can make a decision based on the aforementioned factors.

PES University, Bangalore, and SASTRA University, Thanjavur are private institutions that have been accredited by NAAC. Both universities are recognized by UGC as well. The CSE program is a popular branch of engineering studies offered by both institutions.

• Computer Science Engineering (CSE) is a professional engineering program that focuses on practical and theoretical knowledge of computer hardware and software.

• The areas of employment include communication, IT, electronics, manufacturing industries, etc.

Infrastructure and Facilities

• PES: The campus comprises 3.5 million sq. ft. of built-up area and acres of open ground. The university offers facilities such as hostels, library, sports complex, and grounds, labs, cafeteria, gym, amphitheater, seminar and conference halls, healthcare, etc.

• SASTRA: The university has been recognized as a SIRO by DSIR, Government of India for its research facilities. The institute hosts numerous student activities and events such as DAKSH, BIOTIKOS, etc. Other facilities it offers include a library, clubs, auditorium, hostels, canteen, etc.

Placement Statistics

PES:

• 851 students were placed in 56 top recruiting companies such as Deloitte, Amazon, LinkedIn, Flipkart, JP Morgan, Tech Mahindra, Intel, Mercedes Benz, etc.

• The highest and average package offered was 48 LPA and 6.8 LPA, respectively.

SASTRA:

• 2400+ (i.e., 70%) were placed in recruiting companies such as Accenture, ICICI Bank, Oracle, HUL, Maruti Suzuki, Wipro, Hyundai, Johnson & Johnson, TCS, IBM, etc.

• The highest and average package offered was 28.5 LPA and 9.3 LPA, respectively.

• 90% of students also got internships at various companies and organizations.

CSE is a decent program at these institutions and thus, it is an individual’s personal discretion as to which one will be the best choice for him or her. One must thoroughly learn about both the universities before taking the decision.

IMT Hyderabad is better as it is the youngest member of the IMT group and it is situated in this city which is booming with regards to IT, marketing, and finance. 

• The location acts as a huge advantage as it is just 30 minutes away from the main city and 7 to 10 minutes away from the international airport.
• The faculties are great with more than 80% of them having a Ph.D. in their respective fields. 
• Some also have approximately 7 to 10 years of industry experience.
• As a part of the pedagogy, amazing Harvard cases are discussed. 

• The best thing offered by the college is a 14 to 16-week internship which is a huge duration for industry exposure under the guidance of teachers. 

Pursuing an MBA is hectic but it is also fun with all the clubs and committees around. There are a lot of events now and then and it gives you a lot of exposure as well. It delivers a holistic education to you. Therefore, it can be concluded that if you are admitted to IMT, you will have loads of opportunities to improve your skills.

Vignan University, by all means, is better than VVIT. Here are some of the reasons why. 

• The faculty of the institute is cooperative. There are also upgraded lab amenities and research facilities. 
• The hostels are well maintained with the provision of hygienic food facilities. 
• The library, generally called Dr. Nandamuri Taraka Ramarao Library, has good collections of significant books. 
• The campus has good sports facilities. The admin blocks are well kept, with centralized air conditioning and upgraded lab facilities. 
• The main cultural event, called Mahotsav, is conducted every year. Besides, there are other events organized usually once every 2 to 3 months. 
• The college timings extend from 8 A.M to 3.30 P.M for B.Tech students. The timings, however, are different in the case of MBA and M.Tech students. 
• You need to keep 75% attendance. However, it can drop to 65% in case of medical emergencies. But, if it declines less than 65%, you can face detainment. 
• The placements of the institute are good for the CSE or IT streams and Management courses. Students receive an average CTC of 3.5 LPA. You can join NCC, NSS, SAC, and the Entrepreneurial Cell. 
• The infrastructure of the institute is quite good. There are wifi facilities, seminar halls with upgraded technologies. 

Hence, Vignan is definitely several steps ahead of VVIT.
