What students say about BITS Pilani (Pilani Campus)

Likes

  • Almost all courses are well planned and articulated in order to enhance student knowledge and be industry-oriented. They provide excellent opportunities to perform experiments in well-equipped labs or interact with industries through the practice school option for internships.
  • Excellent internship opportunities are arranged by the campus in the form of PS1 and PS2.
  • BITS Pilani is known for its placements. Students get placed in one of the best companies in the world. Each student can get a maximum of 3 jobs, and everyone will get 3 jobs and can make their choice.
  • The person who is performing very well in all semesters need not be bothered about any kind of scholarship as his fee will be waived off.
  • There is about one girl per eight boys, and there is a very good playground and gym.
  • I reside in a hostel and the hostel rooms are good. There are two sharing rooms in the hostel with good facilities provided.
  • Except for the fee structure, there is nothing BITS-Pilani lacks in terms of being one of the best colleges in India.

Dislike

  • No, I did not opt for any scholarships or education loan because the fees were lower and I could afford it.
  • Hostels are not good; the fees are too high at about 3 lakh per year, and the mess food is one of the worst parts of Bits Pilani.
  • There have been cases of senior professors beating up students at the campus, which is pathetic.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The BITS Pilani hyderabad curriculum is intended to be thorough and demanding with a focus on giving students a solid foundation in their chosen field of study. In a number of fields, including engineering, science, management and humanities, the institution also provides UG, graduate and PHD programmes. The faculty members are experts in their professions and hold advanced degrees. The ratio is probably around 1 is to 100. The exams are taken very timely and in a strict manner with no delay. The difficulty level is mostly hard as they expect a lot from students and prepare them for the outside world.

Remarks:

Any student who completed 12th std and a repeater could sit for the exam BITSAT which is the official entrance examination for entering any BITS institute. I gave the exam on 7th August 2021 in Mumbai. I got 257/450 in the exam and according to the cutoff, I was allotted the Electronics and Instrumentation (ENI) branch after 11 iterations and 2 spot rounds. The admission process was kind of tricky due to the corona situation, but in my opinion, the college handled it pretty well.

Placement Experience:

All three campus has a centralized PS and Placement facility. The PS is an internship every student has to pursue mandatorily in order to complete the degree in 2nd and final year. Most of the students get places in PS2 whereas the rest sit for Placement and get placed. The exact statistics are not released but apparently, there are 100% chances of getting placed.

Remarks:

BITS Pilani conducts the BITSAT entrance examination for admissions to Undergraduate Degrees. There are 3 Indian campuses - Pilani, Hyderabad, and Goa. The admission process of my college is centralized and iterations take into account your choice of preference of branch and campus. Admission is done purely on the basis of merit and there is no reservation in any form. The application fee and other relevant details can be found on the BITS ADMISSION website. The admission process at my college is Smooth.

Course Curriculum Overview:

As bits is one of the most prestigious colleges in the country I always had a dream to study here. Luckily I cleared the cutoff for computer science which was also my preference due to my major inclination toward pursuing a career in its sector. Coming to the student-faculty ratio since cse is the most demanded branch the ratio is quite high but again there are separate tutorial classes and chamber discussion hours where you can clear your doubts with faculty one to one and that's more than enough. The faculty here mostly have done their PhDs and majors from foreign institutes or prestigious Indian one. The exams become quite easy if you have attended classes though there's a zero attendance policy.

Remarks:

For admission into bits you have to give bitsat which is now held two times a year and the best of two scores would be taken into consideration. after bitsat there are usually 7-8 iterations mostly at the same time with jossa and after that, you will be called into college if you have cleared the cutoff.

Placement Experience:

Here, the college invites companies for recruiting us. All the top companies visit our college. I am not aware of the exact selectivity rate, but it is good. The highest package was offered in domestic for 90lacs by Polygon. The average package is 18-19 lacs for all departments, and 30 lacs for IT placements. My plans after getting a degree are to do a job for 2 years and then MS. Students get recruited for internship from 3rd year onwards.

Remarks:

It has an admission exam called BITSAT. It is the Birla institute of technology and science aptitude test. It is 380 marks. Generally, you can get cs at 330. Ec at around 315. EEE at around 305. You can find the admission form on the website.

Placement Experience:

Every year, there are two placement seasons scheduled at BITS Pilani campuses. As part of the Practice School programme, our students spend one of the two semesters of their final year working in industry and are only available sometimes on campus. On each campus website, two months prior to placements, you can get information about the profiles of the students who are available for placement in each season.

Remarks:

Generally speaking, the admissions procedure for a course can differ based on the organisation and programme. An application must be submitted, and test results and transcripts must be provided. A student must normally fulfil any programme prerequisites and specific educational requirements in order to be eligible for a course. Usually, the institution's or program's website has details regarding the application procedure, such as where to get the application form, application costs, and deadlines. If any, reservation perks would also be mentioned on the institution's or program's website but there isn't any reservation in BITS. I am unable to comment on potential changes to the admissions procedure because it differs based on the institution.
