What students say about National Institute of Technology - [NIT]

Likes

  • Very good, and as I mentioned before, the faculty believes in a practical approach, and the course is designed accordingly.
  • There are many companies that come to this college and offer the best packages for the students. Almost every student gets placed in a company; approximately 200 companies come to this college every year.
  • Placements are good. Percentages ranging from 85 to 95 have the best placement opportunities in these institutes. Companies like M.S., Honda, Maruti, Suzuki, etc., are coming to the institute. Approximately 25 companies visit.
  • If you are a year topper, 60000 will be offered to you as a scholarship, and I think it is very good.
  • Life on campus is awesome with a fest being conducted every 2 months.
  • The hostel fee is also affordable, and the hostel rooms are very good, equipped with WiFi and LAN internet services.
  • The greenery of our college is unmatched, and it pleases me every time I take a walk on campus. That is the best thing about our college.

Dislike

  • Generally, practicals are fewer, and they do not even explain the basics behind them in practice but simply instruct you to record the readings from the apparatus.
  • The average package is also very low, and in my opinion, the colleges placement is really bad. Off-campus placements could be better.
  • Fees in college are not very high, but when you look at it from a broader perspective, you also have to pay for the hostel and mess.
  • The facilities provided in the room are not very good. Only fans are available for the summer season. Some of the hostel conditions are bad.
  • Non-veg is not available inside the campus, be it in the hostel mess or canteens. If you are a non-veg lover, you only have the option of eating from outside campus Dhabas. Its not that expensive, but at the same time, it cant be a regular thing.

Placement Experience:

After the 6th semester, students are eligible for placements. The highest package for the year 2022 is 1.23 crore. Almost 89% of student gets placed every year. Many students plan to do a job after their degree while some are interested in startups.

Remarks:

A person should have at least 75% in the 12th board to be eligible for admission. Application form, dates, etc. Could be checked on NTA websites JEE main.nta.ac.in and josaa.nic.in. The admission process after seat allotment is to be done physically at the college.

Placement Experience:

The campus placements are started in 7th semester. All big companies visit for placements like Samsung, Goldman Sachs, Fidelity, Tata power, Maruti Suzuki, HUL etc. The average package for IT companies is 800000 and for non-IT it is 500000. Around 70-80% students get placement offers.

Remarks:

You have to qualify to jee mains for admission. The application form is available on josaa site. Any reservation can be availed if eligible. The admission process is simple. After qualifying jee mains, fill in the preference order of NITs and you will get it according to your rank.

Placement Experience:

Overall the placements are good, the average package got higher in top branches. The students become eligible for the placements in the 7th semester and not all but many top companies visit the campus like Google and Microsoft. Last year the placements were very good, In the CS department every student got placed, and in my course, about 93% got placed with a median package of 14LPA.

Remarks:

There is an exam called JEE which I took to get admission. the cut-off was around 74 percentile to clear the exam but to get admission in this college with the branch Electronics and Communication, one needs to score above 95 percentile, that too if you have the possibility to get any kind of quota else you need to score at least 98 or above to get a good branch in a good college. After the results, there happens counselling where the person prioritizes their college along with the branch he/she wants. Based on the score, there will be a shortlisting in every round you get a college, it might change in rounds or remain the same. This exam is organised by Josaa, on their website the application form, fees and dates are available.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I was getting only this course at my rank. The student-faculty ratio is about 1:8, you can find so many Ph.D. Holders taking tutorials classes formally. All the faculties here are Ph.D. holders and one of the best in their field and most of them have done Ph.D. from REC Kurukshetra (NIT KKR) Itself, especially the old ones. Their teaching method is not so modern but very classy, Term exams are held on a uniform basis every month we can say. As there is a semester of 4-5 months, you have to give 2 Mid-semester exams and One end sem exam and the overall CGPA depends on both of these scores. You can easily pass the exam but for scoring well you have to study hard because they didn't give you marks but will pass easily.

Remarks:

Formal eligibility is 12th passed with 75% but for taking admission you have to score 97 percentile in Jee mains if you are a general candidate like me. The application form you can find on the website of JEE Mains. The admission process is very time-consuming, you have to come to the college for document approval so its needs to be done digitally.

Placement Experience:

Students become eligible for campus placements from the 7th semester. Many top companies like Amazon, DE Shaw, Google, Meesho, etc visit the campus. The highest package was offered by DE Shaw which was around 62 Lakhs. The average package for BTrch is 13.89 lakh. More than 82% of students were placed in Btech.

Remarks:

Admission was offered through JOSAA counseling considering JEE mains score. You can visit jeemain.nta.ac.in to register for the 2023 session. Application fees for males are 1000 and for females 800. You can apply for the next JEE mains session from Feb 14 to March 12, 2023. The admission process is simple but I don't like the shift system because it makes the whole process luck based.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is good, the Faculties are okay, and Classes are just for formalities in some cases. But some professors have great knowledge as some of them are in the top 2% of scientists in the world. Exams are conducted thrice including two mid seems and one end sems.

Remarks:

So after the 12th one has to attempt to jee mains exam and score a decent percentile and then apply for Jossa counseling and then fill in the choices containing Nit Kkr as one of its choices. The reservation policy is the same as central government rules.

Placement Experience:

Usually, the placement starts at the end of summer vacation after the 6th semester, around the end of July. Companies start visiting for recruitment from the start of fourth year. Some companies that offer internships to 3rd-year students, may offer pre-placement options to some students. The highest package offered was 1.25 Cr . Average package was 17 lpa and median package was 10 lpa . Percentage of students getting placement was about 80%.

Remarks:

The admission process for NITs is through JEE mains . It is conducted 2 times in a year. Application form for JEE mains will be available on jeemains.nta.ac.in website.JEE mains is mainly conducted in month of January and April every year. After that qualifying students give JEE Advance for admission in IITs. After all these exams there is a counselling process to get admission in IITs or NITs through JOSSA. There is category reservation like 27% seats are reserved for OBC etc . The admission is smooth. But you may find some difficulties during counseling process.

Placement Experience:

The placements of my course are fantastic as the highest package is about 48lpa whereas the average package is about 20lpa.in the final year students are eligible for placements. In my course there were 100%placements. I will be placed in tech jobs after getting my degree.

Remarks:

There is an entrance exam held every year called jee mains after jee advance and we have to qualify for jee mains with a good percentile for taking admission to my college. For the year 2022, the cut-off of computer engineering in my college was about 4000 rank in obc for the home state. I get to know about the admission process from my colleagues. Reservation benefits are available in 2 category home state and other states and the other category reservations. The admission process is perfect as to get good college we have to give good exams like jee mains.
