Unnati Singh's Review On National Institute Of Technology - [NIT], Kurukshetra | collegedunia.com

NIT Kurukshetra Experience till 3rd year, still more to explore.

Remarks :

There is an exam called JEE which I took to get admission. the cut-off was around 74 percentile to clear the exam but to get admission in this college with the branch Electronics and Communication, one needs to score above 95 percentile, that too if you have the possibility to get any kind of quota else you need to score at least 98 or above to get a good branch in a good college. After the results, there happens counselling where the person prioritizes their college along with the branch he/she wants. Based on the score, there will be a shortlisting in every round you get a college, it might change in rounds or remain the same. This exam is organised by Josaa, on their website the application form, fees and dates are available.

Course Curriculum Overview :

No doubt, the course is good enough to provide you with a good scope for a career. In this course you have the chances to get into either the technical stream or the core one, depending on your interest as it includes both subjects. The faculty-student ratio is accurate but I have seen that some of the professors are brilliant in their respective domains and they focus on the practical knowledge of students more but there are a few teachers as well who do not always listen to students. The same goes if we consider the teaching methods. Well, our internals and end-semester exams, in my opinion, are of medium difficulty level, there were rarely a few students in my course who got failed in semesters, especially those ones who do not even write a single answer on the sheet.

Internships Opportunities :

This time, there were not many companies visited the college but those who came offered a good stipend only a few students got internships. There are top companies like Google, Microsoft and American Express who visited. Most of the roles were of SDE Intern, some were BDI, and a few were developers. There are also other companies who visited for the core roles in their respective branches.

Placement Experience :

Overall the placements are good, the average package got higher in top branches. The students become eligible for the placements in the 7th semester and not all but many top companies visit the campus like Google and Microsoft. Last year the placements were very good, In the CS department every student got placed, and in my course, about 93% got placed with a median package of 14LPA.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The fee structure is divided into three segments depending on the family income, well it is quite affordable for minors even if their family income crosses certain criteria but for others who have a family income above 5 Lakhs, in my opinion, the fee is high. Even in the training semester when classes do not go on, the college asks for the fee and that too the exact amount not even they reduce it. Any student can easily study on an education loan as well if he/she is maintaining a good score because the bank asks for the result then it allows for a loan.

Campus Life :

The infrastructure is quite good as it includes a sports complex for all sports activities, a huge library, a market for goods, etc. When it comes to clubs, and fests, according to me the cultural fest is better than the technical fest as it includes a variety of games and opportunities to win prizes as well.

Hostel Facilities :

The hostel room is indeed a good one, the availability of a single room as per its rent is worthy and peaceful. The hostel also provides a common study room, a gym, and a parlour as well. The mess's breakfast is good but overall according to its two meals per day, it's average. The almirah and lights in the room are good but the room does not have AC, but you can bring your cooler but the hostel would charge for it as extra.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose this course because I am very fond of computers and mobile devices since my childhood and want to learn the work behind these smart gadgets. Overall faculty students ratio is good it is approximately 1:40. Most of the teachers are M.tech qualified from prestigious universities like Jamia and Aligarh and some PhD holders as well. As far as teaching is concerned, the overall methodology is good and don't expect some game changing scenarios. Most of the time, term exams happen in timely manner. Due to covid there was some sort of irregularities but now it is all good right now. Passing exams is not that much challenging if you have basic understanding of concepts and ability to apply them. Most of questions comes from previous year papers.

In BTech mechanical, we have a lot of things to do and better placement opportunities. And our student ratio is quite good. And our faculty is well educated and highly qualified and teaching methods are very good. Our term exams were a little bit tricky but If you regularly attend a class you definitely maintain a good cgpa.
