Course Curriculum Overview:

Faculty to student Ratio is 1:60 . All the professors are quite qualified to do their job. They teach well and are dedicated. Exams are conducted twice in a semester and the difficulty level remains from moderate to high level and it gets somewhat to score well because a good amount of weightage goes to assignments and practicals

Course Curriculum Overview:

Based on the rank I secured in JEE-mains and my interests I chose mechanical engineering in this college and its location is quite good as well. The faculty is supportive except for a few teachers which are worse. The faculty members are highly qualified and teaching methods are appropriate as required. exams and quizzes are conducted regularly within 2 months and it's not much tough to pass

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose this course because I liked physics and my rank was not good to get me into Computer Science. The faculty-student ratio is 1:30. Almost each faculty member has done MTech and many have got Ph.D.. Exams are held two times a semester. Marking is very strict. You can pass if you study one night before but you'll not get good grades. Getting good grades is not easy here. Few get 9 pointer CGPA at the end of the course. Professors don't take much interest in teaching. So most of the time we're watching NPTEL videos to clear the exams.

Ques. Which college should I take for mechanical engineering? I am confused among PEC Chandigarh, NIT Kurukshetra, and NIT Jalandhar.

● Top Answer By Harish Shah on 05 Jan 23

NIT Kurukshetra or PEC Chandigarh are the best options for you. You can certainly cross NIT Jalandhar off your list. The practical labs at NITJ are not well-equipped, and the majority of the equipment is broken. The faculty, on the other hand, is excellent. You should not make NITJ your top priority....Read more

Ques. Is the electrical course better than the mechanical course at PEC in Chandigarh?

● Top Answer By Rohan Basu on 25 May 21

Two years ago, one of my friends was in the same situation. He could have taken electrical and sit for every company’s placements. If he chooses mechanical, then only core opportunities are open. Given the circumstances, he chose electrical in the first round of counseling. It was so because he would at least get a chance to sit in almost every business.  Sitting in a good company does not guarantee a good job, and mechanical engineering at PEC is far superior to that of many NITs and even IITs. Trusting his seniors and teachers, he switched to mechanical on the spot round to which he doesn't regret till now.  If you're interested in electrical, go for it. Since my friend had no particular interest in any of these subjects, he preferred mechanical over electrical....Read more

Ques. What is the better option for an undergraduate course from PEC University Chandigarh, mechanical or aerospace?

● Top Answer By Sarthak Chaudhuri on 25 May 21

It all depends on your personal preferences and what appeals to you the most. However, if none of these two branches piques your attention, then definitely mechanical engineering in PEC is the way to go.  Mechanical is often favored over Aerospace in terms of placement, faculty, or any other criterion. Mechanical is an evergreen branch, as they claim, and they call it that for a reason.  It is in high demand. All industries will need the mind of a mechanical engineer today and forever. Categories Mechanical at PEC Aerospace at PEC Course Fee 6.39 lakh 6.39 lakh Placement Percentage 80% - Highest CTC 15-23 LPA 10-12 LPA Average CTC 6 LPA 6-7 LPA Recruiting Companies JP Morgan, MySQL, Amazon, HPCL, etc. Airbus, Boeing, Goodrich, GE, etc. It would be advised that mechanical is always a better choice than aerospace. You can choose to go for Mechanical engineering without giving it much thought and discussion....Read more

Ques. How is PEC Chandigarh for mechanical engineering? Is it comparable to NITs? Which college should I prefer?

● Top Answer By Praveen Sharma on 30 Apr 21

One of my friends is an alumnus of PEC Chandigarh. According to him, the Mechanical branch has good placement statistics. Here are a few highlights of the branch that may be helpful.  You can easily secure an average package of 6-7 LPA. In recent years the highest CTC offered to students of this branch is around 15 LPA. Although companies offering software-based profiles even offer 22 LPA. Some of the major recruiters for the Mechanical branch are JP Morgan, Tata, ITC, Hero, Bajaj, ZS Associates, Maruti, etc.  The placement average of the branch is almost 80% and only students with low CGPA remain unplaced.  PEC doesn’t have a good research culture. If you are interested in good research exposure, go for an internship at any IIT. According to my friend the quality of teaching is average.  Lastly, if you have options to go for better NITs such as Allahabad, Bhopal, Raipur, etc. go for it. Many reputed PSUs visit the campus placements of these NITs and offer Design profiles....Read more

Ques. Which is better, PEC Chandigarh mechanical or MNIT Jaipur chemical?

● Top Answer By Riddhi Sarkar on 07 Jul 21

There are many things to consider while choosing a college such as placements, location, branch, choice, your expectations after 4 years of engineering life, etc. If you have a liking for a particular branch then go to that college all things considered. Being a student of MNIT myself, I can say that, if you are only concerned about placements then MNIT Jaipur will prove to be a better choice. The following data comparing the placements at both institutes will hopefully give you better clarity. Categories Mechanical at PEC Chandigarh Chemical at MNIT Jaipur Course Fee 6.39 lakh 6.56 lakh Highest CTC 15 LPA 17 LPA Average CTC 6.5 LPA 8-9 LPA Recruiting Companies Tata, JP Morgan, Amazon, MySQL, etc. Hindustan Unilever, GlaxoSmithKline, Tata Chemicals, Carron Oil, etc. However, if you are thinking of branch change after entering the college then MNIT Jaipur does not provide that option while PEC Chandigarh offers that option. So choose one according to what matters more to you....Read more
