Course Curriculum Overview:

The course I chose was CSE because I like this field and also the placement package is nice. The curriculum, at first might seem unnecessary but as you study more you find that more or less everything in the course is necessary. There are two groups in each branch, i.e, about 60 students and there are two professors for each group for a particular subject. Also, both the groups are further divided into three sub-groups, i.e, a total of six sub-groups for labs, and a professor is assigned to each sub-group. All the professors are not too good, not too bad just like the normal stereotypical image of a professor in an engineering college. The college conducts mid-term and end-term examinations in a semester. Also, quizzes and lab assignments are also conducted. We have midterms after two and a half months after the start of the semester and end terms after the same amount of time. Passing exams is easy if you just study occasionally even before the exams, you can pass.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Computer Science is the future. That was the reason for selecting this course. The faculty to Studmet ratio is good. We have a batch of 120 for lectures But practicals are conducted in groups of 20. The teaching is done on Smart Boards All the professors are Ph.D. qualified. We have mid-semester and end-semester exams. They are of medium difficulty level, Very easy to pass.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is nice. As I am in the computer science branch, a lot of interest gain in these subjects and the faculty members are also good. The ratio is about 42 approximately. They managed well to do so by dividing the whole class into groups. They were well enough qualified from top IITs and NITs. The exam level is decent and if you attend their classes regularly, you will easily get passed.

Ques. Which is better: CSE at PEC, Chandigarh or IT at IIIT, Allahabad?

● Top Answer By Aditya Sinha on 17 Aug 22

IT at IIIT Allahabad is a better option, compared to CSE at PEC. In terms of academics, facilities, and placements, it has an edge over PEC. IIIT Allahabad placement 2022 concluded with an average CTC of INR 19.52 LPA. The highest CTC offered this year was INR 32.5 LPA. The placement rate was around 100%. The campus has a good student crowd, peer learning opportunities are ample.  But PEC has a locational advantage. Compared to Allahabad, Chandigarh offers better exposure and career opportunities. ...Read more

Ques. Is PEC Chandigarh really degrading year by year, and how is the faculty for CSE and its placement for CSE?

● Top Answer By Shikha Gupta on 04 May 21

A news article was published in 2018 which assured that there are a lot of chances that PEC shall be converted into IIT very soon. Firstly, PEC is part of the University of Punjab. If it is converted into IIT, then it has to be turned into an autonomous institute first, which has not started yet. There is still not any confirmation regarding the conversion of PEC into IIT. It is a huge thing and these type of topics generally goes through a lot of controversies.  If you are taking admission in PEC thinking that you will get a degree from IIT, then you are completely wrong. You will get a degree with a tag of PEC. It will be better if you stop thinking about the IIT factor. This institute itself a reputed one and provides amazing placements to every one of its students. So, you must be focused on your hard work, career and future career perspectives without thinking about PEC is transformed into IIT....Read more

Ques. What should I choose between NIT Bhopal CSE and PEC Chandigarh CSE?

● Top Answer By Surendra Bose on 30 Apr 21

Both NIT Bhopal and PEC Chandigarh are very good for CSE and provide many facilities to its students. Out of both of them, I would recommend you to choose NIT Bhopal over PEC Chandigarh due to the following reasons. Placements are much better at NIT Bhopal. The average package being offered is around 12.51 LPA which is comparatively better than the packages offered to PEC Chandigarh students.  CSE department witnessed 100% placement offers at NIT Bhopal. While studying at an NIT, you get the 'NITian' tag which is very valuable and a matter of pride for every student out there.  As a city, Bhopal is more beautiful than Chandigarh. You can enjoy your 4 years of B.Tech at NIT Bhopal while pursuing your graduation. As there is not much load of studies and assignments on students.  Hence, NIT Bhopal is a better institute than PEC Chandigarh and provides all the facilities and the proper environment to students without much load of studies. So, it is better to choose NIT Bhopal over PEC Chandigarh....Read more

Ques. Which is better, IT at NIT Kurukshetra or CSE at PEC Chandigarh?

● Top Answer By Raunak Srivastav on 04 May 21

My younger brother is doing CSE from NIT Kurukshetra. So I might be able to help you with this question. If you get IT here, consider yourself to have CSE. There is almost no distinction between CSE and IT in this context. Almost all the subjects studied in CSE are also covered in the IT syllabus as well. The syllabus is being revised, and the new syllabus will be implemented beginning with the July session. So, hopefully, you won't be forced to learn about out-of-date technology that no one uses today. The institute has a strong coding culture. Students engage in healthy competition. Every even semester, the seniors (who are among the best in the game) organize extra classes on Algorithms, Discrete Math, and Data Structures (through Competitive Programming).  In college, there are some fantastic developers. GAWDS (Graphics and Web Development Society) is a society full of super talented people who are experts in their fields and with whom you can learn and grow as a developer.  My brother was allowed to miss his Mid-Term Exams because he needed to attend a prestigious Competitive Programming Contest at another college.  For CSE and IT students, there is a technical society called Techno byte, which is heavily involved in organizing Altius and Techspardha, the latter being the largest Techno-Managerial fest in North India.  The seniors here are extremely cooperative. Heres providing some basic differences between the two institutions -  Categories IT at NIT Kurukshetra CSE at PEC Chandigarh Course Fee 5.80 lakh 6.39 lakh Placement Percentage 90% 90-95% Highest CTC 31 LPA 42 LPA Average CTC 12-18 LPA 16 LPA Recruiting Companies Sprinklr, Microsoft, Flipkart, DE Shaw, etc. Accenture, Adobe, Wipro, Capgemini, etc. The only thing you'll miss is city life. Kurukshetra doesn't have much to offer, but you won't have time or reason to leave the campus because there's always something interesting going on....Read more

Ques. How good is PEC Chandigarh for CSE?

● Top Answer By Anindita Mukherjee on 30 Apr 21

The CSE department at PEC Chandigarh has a great faculty, well-established infrastructure, and excellent placements. Many of my friends have left NSIT for PEC. The environment is cordial and accepting in PEC.  CSE like ECE and Electrical, attract software companies that provide students with immense options to choose from. Core companies also take part in PEC Chandigarh’s placement program. Companies like Arcesium, Amazon, GS, SanDisk, etc. offered students a salary package of 34 LPA. Though very few students are offered an amount like this. Categories CSE at PEC Chandigarh Course Fee 4.60 lakh Placement Percentage 90-95% Highest CTC 42 LPA (Microsoft) Average CTC 8-10 LPA Recruiting Companies JP Morgan, American Express, Rubrik, Goldman Sachs, etc. A large number of companies participating in the placement program in PEC have made it better than other colleges in the region, even NITs, second only to IITs, BITS Pilani and DTU. PEC Chandigarh is a highly recommended college to pursue CSE for a career ahead....Read more

Ques. Which one's better, CSE at NIT Jalandhar or CSE at PEC, Chandigarh?

● Top Answer By Varsha Kashyap on 30 Apr 21

PEC Chandigarh is a better option for Computer Science and Engineering, considering the factors of placement, curriculum, and the overall development of the students in the institute.  The table below gives a brief level of comparison among the two institutes. Particulars PEC Chandigarh NIT Jalandhar NIRF ’20 Ranking 68 52 Total Fees (B.Tech) Rs. 4.6 Lakhs Rs. 6.8 Lakhs Average Salary Offered (CSE) Rs. 12-13 LPA Rs. 5-6 LPA Total Number of Seats (CSE) 111 158 Cut-off (CSE) JEE Main - 8339 DASA UG - 538 JEE MAIN - 6694 DASA UG - 809 Key Highlights: The curriculum followed by PEC Chandigarh is very much similar to that of IITs. It is updated as per the requirements of the industry. This is a great advantage over the other as NIT Jalandhar follows the same syllabus followed by other NITs across India. PEC Chandigarh provides proper facilities in the institute for the overall development of the student during the course.  Through the engagement of technical societies in PEC, students in CSE get exposure to an in-depth study of subjects relevant to Computer Science and Engineering. Considering all the above factors, it can be concluded that PEC Chandigarh is, without doubt, a better choice for a B.Tech degree in Computer Science and Engineering....Read more

Ques. Which is better in terms of academics for CSE, placement, fee and location, NIT Arunachal, NIT Silchar or PEC Chandigarh?

● Top Answer By Ashish Saini on 30 Apr 21

NIT Silchar is the best option for Computer Science and Engineering, considering factors like placement, campus, and the excellent climatic conditions. The table below gives a brief level of comparison among the institutes. Particulars NIT Silchar NIT Arunachal Pradesh PEC Chandigarh NIRF ’20 Ranking 46 200 68 Total Fees (B.Tech) Rs. 5.4 Lakhs Rs. 5 Lakhs Rs. 4.6 Lakhs Median Salary Offered (CSE) Rs. 9 LPA Rs. 6.2 LPA Rs. 7 LPA CSE Seats 161 38 111 Cut-off (CSE) JEE Main - 11506 JEE Main - 36833 JEE Main - 8339 DASA UG - 538 Key Highlights: I have friends studying in both NIT Silchar and NIT Arunachal Pradesh. As per their reviews, NIT Silchar is a much more advanced institute with quality placement for CSE. Silchar is much more accessible by all modes of transport like train, road, and air, which is an added advantage of the institute. The campus of NIT Silchar is very beautiful, with nature and its blessings all around the campus. Even the climatic condition of Silchar is worth staying in for the four years of study. Considering all the above points, NIT Silchar is definitely a better choice for CSE, compared to the other two institutes....Read more

Ques. Which is better NSUT IT or PEC CSE for a Chandigarh student?

● Top Answer By Senjuti Mitra on 17 Sept 22

In terms of brand recognition and exposure, NSUT IT is better than PEC Chandigarh. Delhi offers way better exposure, due to the presence of the industry belt in the area. There are many reputed technological institutes in Delhi such as IIITD, so the learning opportunities are ample.  CSE and IT aren’t too different. The major difference between the two branches is hardware and 90% of students are more invested in software roles. If you aren’t particularly interested in the hardware section of Computer Science, choosing NSUT will be better. NSUT placements are great for IT. Students of the branch get salary packages in the range of INR 4 - 20 LPA.  ...Read more
