Remarks :
The admission process is simple to understand, we need to give an entrance exam called JEE which is very famous in India, people who got 75%+ in their 12th boards in stream PCM can apply for the exam. After giving the exam we need to wait for the result in which our rank is declared and after that counselling process is done by govt. colleges which allot colleges and streams to students if they filled that in the list, according to their ranks. The application form for jee is released by nta on their website nta.nic.in and application fees at my time was 650 per exam attempt, it's a Little bit higher now. Students with good ranks in jee mains can get this college and the cut-off for my stream(E.C.E) was around 27K rank for general, 35k for E.W.S, for SC, ST it was around 1.5 lakh and for P.W.D it was around 5.8 lakh There was no girls quota but these were the reservations available which I have mentioned above.
Course Curriculum Overview :
This course (electronics and communication engineering) is a highly growing field and it is an interesting field also at my rank this was the best field and college for me at that time. Now coming to the college faculty each branch is divided into two sections one is for home state students i.e. Chandigarh ones and the other is for outsiders each section has 60 students so there is not much interaction between students and teachers if we see the ratio but the faculty is good they all are p.hd. holders from different good colleges But talking about teaching methods they just come and teach from the PPTs and go, so most of the time we just have to study on our own like the culture of Indian government colleges. The exams we give are mid-seems and end-sem which are in between the semester and at the end of the semester respectively. They are not that difficult one should go through the questions done in class and do a little practice, that's it, there will be some quizzes and assignments also.
Internships Opportunities :
The internships offered here are great Starting with the highest stipend which was 1.6 lakh per month given to a CSE student by UBER followed by 1.5 lakhs per month given to an E.C.E student Many big companies like American Express, Microsoft, Atlassian, Deloitte, and J.P. Morgan offer roles related to software, risk management, finance, consulting, core etc The internship itself is a task of the 6th semester and it is of 6 months giving 12 credits to the student, those who don't take it make projects, and upskill themselves and there are 3 tasks for them to get their 12 credits of the course There were more than 70% of students in the CSE branch get internships and more than 50% in E.C.E and a good amount of students got accepted from other branches also Major roles were offered in the software department
Placement Experience :
Placements in our college is good, they provide on-campus placements with a good average package In 6th semester the student has a chance to grab an internship which ranges upto 1 lakh also if we see this year's record And after that in 4th year they can get placed with decent packages The major companies visited were APPLE, GOOGLE, MICROSOFT, PHONE PE, J.P. MORGAN, GOLDMAN SACHS and many more No. Of PPOs, students got 149, and the highest stipend was 1.6 lakh offered by uber for an internship Above 40% of people preferred software followed by analytics(24%), core(17%), consulting(9%), and Finance(2%). Around 700 offers were there and the highest package grabbed by 5 students was of 83.5 lpa (4 CSE and 1 ECE) and the overall average was around 14 lakhs and above 70% of students were placed having 91% highest in CSE Major high packages were offered in software roles followed by other profiles After the degree, I wish to gain some experience from a job so I could start something new after that.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
This college is a little expensive if we compare it to Nit's and comparable to IIT's The fee is increased every year to some extent So when I got admission, the fee was 94000 per semester and there are 8 semesters in B.Tech also there are some extra maintenance charges taken in admission fees The hostel was also quite expensive compared to the quality they give. It was 75000 per year plus 3000 for mess per month And the major point here is, you get lesser opportunities to get a scholarship here, as they give a 50% tuition fee waiver to SC, and ST students other than that there are income-based alumni scholarships which are given to very few students as compared to to other government colleges, there are some scholarships for physically handicapped students also. But overall the scholarship system should be improved and corruption should be decreased The campus job placements are nice we got 83.5 lpa as the highest ON-CAMPUS placement in our branch with 20.99 LPA as the average package this year.
Campus Life :
Campus Life is cool Our fest is PECFEST which is considered One of the biggest college fests in northern india it's generally organised after the month of August i.e. end side of the year we experience a footfall of more than 30k in this event with great stars Also, there are some technical fests being organised from time to time by many technical clubs in our college There's a library with books related to the curriculum there, we can take them for use but if we are late then generally the probability of books being available is very low also the library is OK-OK. The campus is also OK-OK you will find a green campus with a decent infrastructure for A.C classes, also Chandigarh is a City with beautiful structures and planning and it's amazing to be here, there are many tourist destinations nearby. The sports activities are decent but I will appreciate the clubs here as there is a club for almost everyone if you want to be in tech, sports, management, coding, dance, drama, music, NCC, NSS, and many more
