Course Curriculum Overview:

In CSE and ECE branches college placements are quite good. The student-faculty ratio is about 1:15. Most of the faculty members are Ph.D. holders from renowned institutions in the country. They are always ready to solve problems faced by the students. College exams were of mediocre level i.e if you study well whole semester you will not face any problem and can pass exams with good cgpa. The curriculum of the syllabus is also not quite difficult.

Course Curriculum Overview:

This course (electronics and communication engineering) is a highly growing field and it is an interesting field also at my rank this was the best field and college for me at that time. Now coming to the college faculty each branch is divided into two sections one is for home state students i.e. Chandigarh ones and the other is for outsiders each section has 60 students so there is not much interaction between students and teachers if we see the ratio but the faculty is good they all are p.hd. holders from different good colleges But talking about teaching methods they just come and teach from the PPTs and go, so most of the time we just have to study on our own like the culture of Indian government colleges. The exams we give are mid-seems and end-sem which are in between the semester and at the end of the semester respectively. They are not that difficult one should go through the questions done in class and do a little practice, that's it, there will be some quizzes and assignments also.

Ques. How are the packages for ECE at PEC Chandigarh?

● Top Answer By Sudhanshu Jha on 30 Apr 21

One of my friends studied at Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh, so I will be able to share some information about their placement process, drives, etc.  Companies like Arcesium and Amazon might offer a 30+ package, though few students receive this offer based on their coding skills. Core companies like Sandisk, Texas Instruments, MediaTek, etc. may hire 4-5 candidates from CS, ECE, and EE departments combined. The remaining students get placed in different sectors like IT, Consulting, Banking, etc. These include BCG, JP Morgan, Amadeus, Smartcube, etc. TCS and Infosys are the mass recruiters, they will offer you many opportunities, though they might sometimes not be up to the mark. So try to stay ahead in the competition.  In the below table you will get the placement record of the ECE course of Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh. Category ECE at PEC Placement Percentage 70% Recruiters  Airtel, Atkins, Siemens, USHA, Tata, Panasonic, Minda, Samsung, Honda, Hero, NBC, JSW, Mahindra, Hyundai, Orient, L&T, Google, Infosys, Yahoo, Oxigen, WSP, ZS, EXL Highest CTC INR 42 LPA Average CTC INR 10.2 LPA Students also get placed by mass recruiters like TCS, or Infosys. But it will be better if you get recruiters from core companies. Therefore, a package of Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh, is good. Most students get placed. So, if you are thinking of joining PEC, then go ahead with it....Read more

Ques. Which one should I prefer, ECE of PEC University of Technology, Chandigarh or ECE of NIT Kurukshetra? Moreover, how is electrical of PEC?

● Top Answer By Arun Pal on 01 May 21

For an ECE degree, PEC Chandigarh can be a better choice, considering the factor that there is quite a good number of core companies visiting the campus for placement. The table below gives a brief level of comparison among the two institutes. Particulars PEC Chandigarh NIT Kurukshetra NIRF ’20 Ranking 68 40 Total Fees (B.Tech) Rs. 4.6 Lakhs Rs. 5.8 Lakhs Median Salary Offered Rs. 7 LPA INR  8 LPA JEE Main Cut-off (ECE) 16478 12019 Key Highlights: Electronics and Communication Engineering has a great value in present times if studied from good institutes like PEC or NITK. There are some problems with studying ECE from NIT Kurukshetra, the prime one being the lack of core electronics companies visiting the campus for placement. For students who are interested in working at an IT company or going for an M.Tech or MBA, ECE at both NIT Kurukshetra and PEC Chandigarh are good options. Both the institute has excellent reputations. Students should, at last, make choices considering the reviews having honest opinions about the advantages and disadvantages of both the institutes. Therefore, students can consider the above factors as a point of advice and make choices accordingly....Read more

Ques. How is ECE at PEC Chandigarh?

● Top Answer By Rishabh Sinha on 30 Apr 21

PEC University of Technology, which was formerly renowned across India as Punjab Engineering College is among the premier technical institutions of the nation. In fact, back in 1994, it was called the best technical institution India ever had by the National Foundation of Indian Engineers (NAFEN).  In brief, the department of electronics and communication engineering (ECE), which was primarily known as the Department of Electronics & Electrical Communication Engineering started with an intake capacity of around 30 students. As the time passed, it subsequently saw an increment to 60 with regard to the competence of the infrastructure, besides the faculty of the department itself.  The intake capacity of PEC Chandigarh has gradually seen an upward slope of 75 students from 2014 - 15 and 120 students from 2016 - 17 onwards. You can check the recent stats of the intake capacity of the institution if necessary. The department of ECE in PEC Chandigarh is considered to be extremely good. It also has a good placement record.  Placement Average  100% Average CTC 8-9 LPA Highest CTC 43 LPA Besides, you will acquire a lot of exposure in a city like Chandigarh in your upcoming years...Read more

Ques. Which is better, ECE at VIT Vellore or metallurgy at PEC Chandigarh?

● Top Answer By Khushi Sharma on 04 May 21

My brother had the option of VIT for CSE on merit still he chose PEC metallurgy. There are various reasons as to why he took that decision: VIT is more expensive. Even if he had gone on merit, it would have cost him much more than PEC. Placements in core companies in ECE are negligible. You can sit for IT companies, but they pay less to ECE undergraduates than CSE counterparts. If you are a north Indian, culturally VIT might be different and might take time to adjust. Metallurgy is an undervalued branch in India; many of my seniors are pursuing MS from Germany, the United States, and France, and some have gone to IIMs and FMS with strong credentials. One of our seniors received a PPO of 15 lakhs, which is more than many students from elite branches. You can choose to upgrade, but you'll quickly realize that it's not that simple because the grading criteria favors those who are less deserving (no offense). Whether you accept it or not, those who claim that placement in metallurgy is poor (as it is in all branches except CS/IT) are correct. Placements in the core are hard to come by. Only 4000 people in GATE are from metallurgy, whereas there are 1.8 lakh from CSE and 2.1 lakh from Mechanical, implying that the probability of you getting a PSU is greater than that of a mechanical engineer. Categories ECE at VIT Vellore Metallurgy at PEC Chandigarh Course Fee 7.83 lakh 6.39 lakh Highest CTC 21 LPA 17.75 LPA Average CTC 9.3 LPA 7.5 LPA Recruiting Companies Deloitte, Bank of America, IBM, HCL, etc. ZS Associates, Amazon, JP Morgan, JSW Steels, etc. I personally believe VIT is overrated because a friend who did not even pass mains received 2000 AIR in VITEEE. In the CBSE 2016 boards, he scored 78 percent, which was below average....Read more
