How do I decide between IIT Delhi and IIT Madras for engineering physics?
The curriculum of Engineering Physics at both IIT Madras and IIT Delhi is equally instructional and well-structured. The demand for this discipline has witnessed a steady increase over the past few years.
If I had to choose between IIT Delhi and IIT Madras, I would have opted for the latter. This is because
- IIT Delhi lacks in terms of technological instruments and its infrastructure is not on par with IIT Madras yet.
- The hostel facilities are very substandard and the quality of food served in mess is pathetic in IIT Delhi
- The sports facilities are highly lacking and the infrastructure is also average
- There are illogical restrictions on the use of the Internet.
In my opinion, unless it’s a matter of locational preference, go for IIT Madras over IIT Delhi any day. You won’t be able to enjoy your college life to the fullest here.
Should I take admission in mechanical at KIIT University, HBTI Kanpur or IET Lucknow?
KIIT will take all of your parents' hard-earned money. They will allow your entire batch to sit in some 2 to 4 average companies through campus placement, but if you want to work for any services-based IT company, you can get admission to KIIT. If GATE/IES/PSU is your goal, it is best to study in a college that is close to your home and has lower fees.
HBTI is the best not only in UP but across the country, with an excellent alumni base dating back to 1921. Each year, the best students from UP attend this prestigious institute.
IET is not bad, but when compared to HBTI, it falls short in terms of placements, alumni base, academics, and so on.
Which is the best option, Mathematics and Computing at IIT Guwahati, CSE at IIIT Hyderabad, or CSE at BITS Pilani?
- According to me, BITS Pilani is the best option for those who want to pursue CSE. The curriculum has been designed in a way that will help the students to get thorough knowledge of the domain. The curriculum has an equal focus on theoretical and practical subjects.
- However, you need to be prepared to learn many courses per semester. You will be truly busy during the four years of this course with too many assignments, lab tests, quizzes, etc.
- You will need adequate practice and hard work to ace the tests. However, at BITS Pilani we believe in smart work instead of hard work.
- The total fee for this 4-year CSE course is around INR 22 lakhs including the hostel fees. The median salary for 2023 stood at INR 18.20 LPA. The top recruiters include Adobe, Accenture, Apple, Cipla, Bajaj Finserv, Cognizant and many more.
Which is the better engineering college: WBJEE or COMEDK?
COMEDK will be a better option. There are only 2-3 colleges under WBJEE that are considered good if your rank is between 1 to 3000.
Almost all of the institutes under COMEDK are above average. They can even surpass Jadavpur University, for that matter. The institutes under WBJEE and COMEDK are as follows:

- Out of all the departments, the institute witnesses the maximum placement from the CSE department.
- Almost every year, around 3-4 service-based companies visit the campus of the Institute for the recruitment of students.
- These On-campus placement drives are organized by the institute.
- Firms like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Tech Mahindra visit the campus for recruitment purposes.
- Approximately 200 students out of 400-450 get recruited for various job profiles by reputed firms every year.

Kalyani University is a very popular institution and pursuing an engineering degree from this university has its own pros and cons. Some of my friends studied there and here are the things I got to know from them.
Pros
- This institution is owned and run by the government. The complete fees for your 4 years of graduation is less compared to other private colleges.
- The faculty of this college is very good and all other staff members such as lab assistant, office staff, canteen staff are very helpful.
- The university also hires some external professors having years of industry experience to teach and guide the students.
- This gets them accustomed to the corporate culture.
- The total number of students in this department is less so you will always have the chance to interact with your professors.
Cons
- One of the biggest demerits of this university is that it doesn't have a proper placement cell in its campus.
- Securing a job offer is tough, and you have to take the initiative yourself.
- The infrastructure of this college is average. The computer lab, electronics lab, instrumentation lab don't have adequate facilities.
- The campus is located in a remote area. But the transportation facility is okay.

- IIIT Allahabad: It has a legacy of just over 22 years. But still, it is a widely respected institution in its own way.
Infrastructure:
- MNNIT Allahabad: Infrastructure is inversely proportional to legacy and thus it has average facilities such as libraries, crammed hostel rooms, canteen, non-functional swimming pools, etc.
- IIIT Allahabad: It boasts of state-of-the-art modern infrastructure being a newer institute.
Placements:
- MNNIT Allahabad: For the year 2019, 95.56% of the total 90 eligible students in the IT branch were placed with an average and highest salary of INR 12.97 LPA and INR 36 LPA respectively.

Mess:
- MNNIT Allahabad: They serve only vegetarian food which is really difficult for non-vegetarians.
- IIIT Allahabad: They serve both types of foods. So, no need to worry.
At MNNIT Allahabad the seniors are quite helpful. They conduct coding classes or doubt clearing classes for juniors during the weekend.
In the end, both the colleges will give you many things, some good and some not so good. But the most important thing is how you utilize them properly.
