How do I prepare for the IIM Indore IPM Aptitude test and personal interview? What books should I refer to prepare for IPM-AT? What is the syllabus for the Aptitude Test?

HN
Hardik Nagar Posted On : January 11th, 2023
Studied at Integrated Programme in Management, IIM Indore (Graduated 2021)

Frankly, the preparation tips for the IIM Indore IPM Aptitude test and personal interview are best understood from a student who's been through the process recently, not a coaching instructor or institute.

The aptitude test to interview score ratio is 60:40. The study material for the course can't really help you much. Sharpen your math skills if they are lacking. It's a must because quant is a stress if your math skills aren't up to par. The computer provides you with a calculator, but it can only perform basic addition and subtraction. If you are proficient in English, verbal is simple. No point in opening the dictionary to figure out new words or trying to mug them up. Read the papers and any classic literature you can get your hands on. The rest would probably work out. The majority of the reading was at the CBSE level. Your reading speed is the only potential stumbling block. Reading newspapers will also help you if you are chosen for the interview. The term "electronic commerce" refers to the sale of electronic goods. Also, the break between the test and interview is a good time to brush up on your class 12 syllabus.

The one thing to remember is to never lie. They'll see right through you, and trouble may be on the way. Presentation is essential. Don't be scared to ask for a little time to ponder upon a question, but don't be overconfident.

The key is self-assurance. After all, the panelists and the test are only attempting to assess the breadth of your knowledge, your self-awareness, and the goals you wish to achieve. Don't compare yourself with others or think of the multitude of kids trying their luck too. You will succeed there if you are aware that IIM IPM is where your heart truly lies.

What are some experiences people have had with the IGNOU exams? Are they difficult and what level of preparation is needed or can one be a bit easygoing?

SK
Sanchit Kapadia Posted On : October 13th, 2022
MCA from Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU)

The truth about IGNOU is that it does not care about you, and its success rate is much lower than that of other universities. IGNOU will be much more difficult than any other university; even your regular course may be much easier than what you will experience at IGNOU. It's not so much the degree that you'll get from IGNOU as it is the experience of how harsh and demanding life will be, how things will go wrong and you'll have to make them right. The terms provided by IGNOU may appear simple, but soon everything will begin to unfold; there will be success and setbacks. You will have to rework things over and over again, or you will fail. Exams are easy but they become tougher as you progress. You might get (low) grades as you've never gotten before, just because IGNOU is a miser in terms of giving marks.

Even though IGNOU exams are not difficult, here are some factors that contribute to their difficulty: The study material is never delivered on time; if it is, you will not receive your entire syllabus for the current semester; frequently, the study material arrives in the following semester. The exam schedule is appalling. There will be times when you have two exams on the same day, times when you have exams on consecutive days, and times when you only have one exam at the end of the month. Exam papers are not difficult (if you know the subject), but the point is that there is no specific standard that IGNOU has set for its marking scheme. As a result, even if you have answered questions correctly and to the best of your ability, you may still lose.

Is the entrance test for NICMAR tough?

AS
Abhimanyu Singh Posted On : September 13th, 2021
MBA from National Institute of Construction Management and Research,Pune (2017)

The NCAT is the entrance exam for NICMAR. According to some of my friends who have taken the exam, it is not that difficult but easy if you prepare well.

  • For the written exam, you need to have hands-on practice with the aptitude and reasoning section.
  • You need to have good time management skills to ace the exam.
  • The next round would be Group Discussion. For this, you have to keep a record of the current affairs of both the World and India along with the domain you are studying, be it Interiors or Civil.
  • Have a sound knowledge of the current technologies and reforms made in the particular domain.
  • The last would be the personal interview round. It's quite easy if you have a command over your communication skills.

An interview is nothing but an interaction. For the preparation, in the case of a fresher, you can tell your accomplishments during the time of graduation. If you are a working individual, you can share your learning, experiences, and the contribution you have made in the industry while working tenure.

IGNOU What happens when we submit the assignments way past the last date?

HN
Hardik Nagar Posted On : October 13th, 2022
Studied at Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU)

Most IGNOU students associate IGNOU Assignment submission with IGNOU Term End Examinations. They are not, however.

Aside from one connection: to appear in the respective subject's TEE, one must first submit an assignment; there are NO other connections.

1) IGNOU Assignments and IGNOU Examination Form are not in any way related:

That is, you can choose to submit IGNOU assignments for all subjects while not appearing in the TEEs for any of them. However, because registration for a paper is only valid for two years or four semesters, it is important to continue passing the TEEs. Otherwise, one must re-register for the paper, which is still incomplete (Not passed).

2) IGNOU Assignments that have been submitted and completed (passed or cleared) are valid for the duration of the IGNOU program:

This also applies to the Maximum Duration to Complete the Program. For example, IGNOU MBA takes 8 years. Thus, if a student fails a paper or re-registers for a paper, he or she only needs to reappear in the TEE (if he has already passed the Assignment). As a result, there is no need to resubmit the assignment for the aforementioned paper.

3) Regardless of when you plan to appear in TEE, you must submit only the most recent IGNOU Assignments:

You cannot submit a previous assignment that you wrote but did not submit at the time.

Regardless of whether you intend to take the upcoming TEE or not, it is always advisable to submit completed assignments to the Study Centre or Regional Centre.

4) The Late Fee is not for Late Assignment Submission: There is no fee to submit the IGNOU Assignments.

5) Assignments that have been submitted and passed (Complete Status) are valid for the entire IGNOU Programme, but one must pass a paper within two years of registration: If a student fails to complete or pass a paper within two years or four semesters, he must re-register. This doubles the cost of the paper. Aside from the financial burden, there are no other consequences to re-registration.

If I take admission to IGNOU in January session when will my term-end exam be conducted?

AT
Anuradha Thakur Posted On : October 17th, 2022
MCA MAH MSW MPA MAPY MPS from Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU)

If you enroll in the January session:

  • Yearly programs — You must submit your assignments by September 30th and your TEE by December 30th.

  • Semi-annual/semester programs — You must turn in your assignments by April 15th, and your TEE by June 30th.

If you enroll in the July session.

  • Yearly program—You must submit your assignments by March 31st, and your TEE in June.

  • Semi-annual/semester programs — You must turn in your assignments by October 15th, and your TEE in December.

IGNOU exams are held twice a year. In June and December. Occasionally, IGNOU extends the deadline.

There's one more thing to think about. Assignments for the July session and the January session (for the following year of that July session) are the same in IGNOU. Also, when you submit the assignments, make sure that they are the most recent available assignments for your course for the current year in which you are submitting them. For example, if you enrolled in January 2021 and did not complete the assignments in the first year, you must complete the newly available assignments for the next year, which are for the January 2022 session.

Arihant publishes a book that contains the previous years’ questions of MU OET.  Along with the previous year's questions, there are also some sample papers. You can follow this book for your preparation. It is quite helpful and offers insights into the examination pattern.

As MU OET is an online examination, the university doesn’t usually provide the question papers.

What do I do to crack the NIMHANS entrance exam for a post graduation in neurosurgery?

AT
Anamika Tiwari Posted On : October 6th, 2021
Government Medical College, Nagpur

For post MBBS direct MCh/ DM neurology and MD Psychiatry courses, NIMHANS conducts an online entrance exam consisting of MCQs.

  • A common entrance exam is conducted for all courses and later on a separate merit list for each course is released which means you have to opt for the course while applying or you can apply for all of them or either of the two courses.
  • The test is for 2 hours with 150 MCQs. There is negative marking in the examination. Approximately 90 to 100 questions are from 19 MBBS subjects. The difficulty level is medium. The questions are selected from guidebooks.
  • The rest of the 50 to 60 questions are related to CNS so prepare for the neuro aspect of all major subjects viz Anat, Physio, Medicine Psychiatry, Surgery Patho, etc. With the preparation of the last 10 to 15 days, these questions are solvable
  • NIMHANS paper is overall easy compared to AIPGME and AIIMS but since the number of seats is very less, the margin of error for silly mistakes is very low.

The key to get through is by reading all subjects till the last 10 days to the exam and later focusing on the neurology part. This ensures that your preparation level would be optimum on exam day.

I missed my IGNOU assignment dates and the exams for the last session. Can I appear for the next session without reapplying?

AR
Amrita Rathod Posted On : October 17th, 2022
Studied at Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU)

You will receive the study material once you have enrolled in the year (first, second, or any as per the course) with the list of subjects. You are already aware of this.

IGNOU accepts assignments twice a year, which is required to take the course exam that session. Once in May and once in September. For the assignment, the exams are in June-July and December, respectively.

Every set of assignments for any subject (check the title page of the pdf file) is valid for one year. If you missed the exams in May, you can retake them in December if you submitted the same set in September.

If you missed the December exam as well, you must complete and submit a new set of assignments. Every new year, a new set is released; it is up to you to decide when he or she can take the exams and thus fill out the exam form after submitting the assignments on time. Please refer to the assignment title page to double-check the dates for that specific year.

How can I crack the JIPMER exam?

RP
Ritwika Patnayak Posted On : October 4th, 2021
Studied MBBS at Jawaharlal Institute of Post Graduate Medical Education and Research

The pattern usually followed in JIPMER is quite different from what is generally seen in NEET or AIIMS. Prior to taking the exam, you should become acquainted with the pattern of the exam.

Examination Pattern:

The total mark for the examination is 200. Now, every question carries one mark. There is negative marking so, it is best to attempt questions that you are sure of. Moreover, the exam is conducted on an online basis with about 150 minutes allotted for it in total.

Book Recommendation:

Here are some recommendations you should know, as per following a book.

  • 16 years of JIPMER exam solved papers by Arihant. It can help you in understanding the concepts of the questions
  • NCERT Text Books.
  • It is best to follow D.C.Pandey Objective Physics for Medical Entrance, for physics.
  • R.C. Mukherjee is best for the Physical section of Chemistry.
  • For organic chemistry, you can follow O.P. Tandon
  • For inorganic, you should be extremely familiar with NCERT itself.
  • For Biology, Trueman's Publication is one of the best choices.
  • It is advised that you solve as many MCQS as you possibly can. For similar purposes, you can follow MTG Biology as well.

Solving a total of 200 questions within almost 150 minutes is unbelievably difficult, yet with practice, it is quite probable that you can ace it. For similar issues, it is best to solve Biology in the first go, while keeping English as the second option. Following both, you should complete Chemistry and physics. The last section you should take hold of should be Logical Reasoning.

Prior to the exam, you can take a mock test. It can help you get familiar with the exam pattern. Most essentially, you will be provided with a virtual calculator to attempt every question.

Now, to reserve a seat, you must be in the top 100 since there are only 200 seats. A decent score of 180+ can help you secure a seat.
