University of Florida Review

EL
8.5 /10

They gave the most scholarships and the engineering program was really good. They were ranked in the top ten public universities in the US when I applied, and by being a freshman in 2018, the ranking just increased to the top 8.

Course Curriculum :

I think the current curriculum for engineering students is a bit heavy because there is no room for classes but STEM. If you are an out of state student it's a bit tricky to get all the classes in time.

Exams :

SAT and ACT. I got roughly 1300 on the SAT and a 28 on the ACT. I also did a couple of AP exams but the credits had trouble transferring since I'm out of state.

Internship :

There are tons of internship opportunities because our campus is a research-heavy institution. All of the faculty on campus are involved in at least one type of research so it's super easy to get involved in the research.

Fees :

In-state, students pay roughly 6000 per school year so it is extremely affordable. The school gives lots of scholarships even for out of state. We get our fees broken down into tuition, then food and housing, then mandatory health insurance.

Examination Structure :

The exams happen all night from 8:30 to 10 pm. Some exams are pretty easy and some classes have really hard exams. On campus, they are known as weeder classes because nearly 70% of the students fail them.

Faculty :

The people are really nice and super diverse. Coming to Florida, I was surprised how much blacks and white would be working together because I have heard that in the south they don't really get along.
