Megan Pirino Review at University Of Florida [UF], Gainesville | Collegedunia

UF Experience

MP
7.3 /10

I wanted to stay somewhat close to home while also saving the most money. The Florida Bright Futures scholarship is a big help and persuades many to stay within Florida for school. I also had a lot of friends going to UF.

Course Curriculum :

The course curriculum is interesting. I like that there aren't tests for every chapter but instead, are typically tested twice a semester. That seems like a happy medium between testing enough and giving students enough time to master the material.

Exams :

I took the SAT and ACT. I took the SAT multiple times and the ACT once; I scored better on the former.

Placement :

The placements are difficult. I've known people who have offers before they graduate and I know people who have had to job search post-graduation. I think part of that is the advertising and graphic design industry.

Internship :

My college does not offer an internship. My college does allow students to get internships somewhere and then offer internship credit, which goes toward your total number of credit hours for your major.

Events :

Well, I'm not super involved with the events in my college. However, we did have an event this year for the first time called Brand Bowl. Students gathered to watch and rate Super Bowl ads on their trustworthiness. This was an event I participated in.

Fees :

The fees are pretty standard. Tuition is the largest expense and then housing and textbooks as well.

Scholarship :

Yes, I had two one time scholarships and after that, I also had the Florida Bright Futures Academic scholarship. I require no federal financial aid.

Examination Structure :

The exam structure is typically all multiple choice with about 50 questions, sometimes 40. The other structures I have, have included short response and true/false questions. I think that covers all the exam structures I've encountered.

Faculty :

I think the faculty of my college is good and have or have had fairly successful careers in their fields.

Hostel :

I lived on campus for my freshman year because it was convenient, especially since I didn't have a car at the time. In my sophomore year I lived off campus because I wanted to cook my own meals. It's also nice to be off campus when it's still very close to campus.
