Sastra University B.Tech Eligibility Criteria

To apply for B.Tech admissions at Sastra University, the applicant should have the following eligibility criteria as prescribed by the relevant authorities.

  • Candidates should have cleared class 12th exam with Physics and Mathematics as a compulsory subject and any among Bio-Technology/ Computer Science/ Biology/ Chemistry or its equivalent
  • The candidates should have scored more than 60% aggregate marks in their three chosen subjects in class 12 exam in a single sitting
  • The upper age limit for admission to Sastra University is 19 years old at the time of admission
  • Students who have a diploma in Engineering can take direct admission to the 2nd year of their specialization. The upper age limit of lateral entry candidates is 21 years at the time of admission

Sastra University B.Tech Admission Criteria

  • Admissions to B.Tech in Sastra University are done under 2 streams. In stream 1, 70% of the seats are allotted and in stream 2, 30% of the seats are allotted. Under stream 1 students are selected on the basis of their combined score of JEE Main and class 12th, while in stream 2 only the class 12th score is considered.
  • Candidates should note that in stream 1, 75% weightage will be given to class 12th scores and 25% to JEE Main score. The combined score of both of them would be used to make the final merit list. On the other hand in stream 2 100% of weightage will be given to class 12th score. Candidates do not need to fill a separate application form for applying through different streams.
  • In case a student had not appeared for JEE Main but applied through stream 1, his score for JEE Main would be counter 0 but his class 12th score would be given 75% weightage to calculate the final score. However, his score of class 12th would be given 100% weightage in stream 2. This way a candidate would be considered for both streams 1 and 2 by default.
  • Following the submission of the application form, the merit list of the candidates will be released. After that, students would be called for the counselling process. In counselling 1, students of stream 1 would be allotted seats and in counselling 2, the students of stream 2 would be allotted seats.

The B.Tech course at Sastra University has a total of 225 credits comprising 25% practical and 75% theory. There is an average of 27 credits per semester. The final semester includes viva and project work. 

The first year constitutes 61 credits while out of the remaining 164 credits, the students have to earn 108 credits through core courses, 12 through interdisciplinary open electives, and 31 by departmental electives. Students can also earn 9 credits for the end semester project and 4 for HR skills.
