Sastra University PhD Admission 2023 is going to begin soon. Admission to the program will be based on the entrance exam and Interview conducted by the University. Candidates can apply online on the official website of the university. Once the registration process is complete, the university will announce dates for the further admission process. SASTRA University has over 7 schools which offer Ph.D. programme in 48 disciplines twice a year. The university sorts the Ph.D. aspirants in two categories:

  • Internal Candidates (full time/ part time) - Those who will pursue the Ph.D. programme in the university itself.
  • External Candidates (full/ part time) - Those who will pursue their doctoral work in research centre/ laboratory/ industry/ organisation approved by the Academic Council of SASTRA University.

SASTRA University Ph.D. Eligibility

For admission to Ph.D. programmes, one should qualify the following criteria:

  • Any candidate who has completed one of the following degrees recognized by SASTRA University as equivalent in their discipline of study:
  • Masters in Engineering/Pharmacy/Management/Technology/Science/ Arts/Computer Applications with a bare minimum of 55% marks
  • Chartered Accountancy (CA), with a minimum two years of practice
  • Candidate who has completed his B.Tech. programme with either a minimum of 60% or an industrial sponsorship will be considered under direct admission to the Ph.D. programme

SASTRA University Ph.D Admission Process

  • Selection procedure for full time and part time candidates is as follows:
    • For Full-time Candidates – Aspirants will have to appear for the entrance test held at the university only, followed by an interview on the same date.
    • For Part-time Candidates – Candidates will be called in for a Presentation before the Selection Committee of the University. The candidate will then be asked to present a technical paper from a referred Journal.
  • If the candidate possesses a B.Tech. degree, there is direct entry, if he/she satisfies the minimum qualifications as mentioned by the University
  • Entrance exam for the Ph.D. programme will be conducted in the SASTRA University only. Following are the details of the entrance exam:
    1. It will be an online test of 120 minutes duration
    2. The test will consist of two sections General Aptitude and Technical Section
    3. General Aptitude section will consist of three components – Verbal, Quantitative and Analytical
    4. For Technical Section, aspirants will have to choose three subjects from the list of technical subjects provided.
    5. The paper will consist of objective type multiple choice questions and there will be no negative marking.
    6. Calculators can be used in the Technical Section of the exam.

Once the candidate clears the online examination, he/she will be called in for the interview on the same day itself

How To Apply?

  • Candidates can Submit the application forms online with the relevant details and upload  the digital photograph and signature within the size limits as permitted by the University
  • Applicants should Mention the name of the school where the admission is required.
  • Candidates should also submit the Registration fee of INR 650 through online debit/credit card payment modes.

The fee can also be submitted at the university Admissions Office through demand draft (DD) drawn in favour of SASTRA University, along with the print out of the form
