According to my friends studying at NIT Trichy, there are a total of five hostels for the first year students at NIT Trichy. They include: Diamond, Agate, Coral, Jade and Opal. Diamond, Agate, Coral and Jade hostels are for boys and Opal hostel is for the girls. As the girls do not have any option in terms of hostel, therefore there will not be any question for the best hostel. Speaking of boy’s hostels, All the first year student hostels are equally good. If there is a parameter of distance, then Coral and Agate hostels are the closest to the Lecture halls where the classes of first year are usually conducted. Diamond hostels can be considered best for the Wifi speed. All the hostels have relatively good internet speed. My brother stayed in the hostels at NIT Trichy for 4 years. As per his experience, the weather is mostly hot with heavy rainfall during certain seasons. The factor of adaptability is the first thing you will be required here. Be prepared for waiting in a queue for a shower. You will be facing situations where you have to be very punctual. Hot water would also not be available during the winter season. There are numerous shops available on campus where you can purchase items for daily necessities. Few things that you can pack for your hostel at NIT Trichy include: Bedsheets, Pillow covers, Towels and Clothes. If you are cautious about your skin, then I would suggest that you pack a sunscreen lotion as you can get sunburns at the hostel. You can pack a pair of formal shirts and pants for formal occasions. One of my friends stays nearby Tiruchirappalli. According to him, unfortunately, NIT Trichy is located in a place called Thuvakudi which is at a distance of 20 km and 40 km from Trichy and Thanjavur respectively. There are only villages around the college which means you won't get any hotels nearby. You might have to stay in one, as it is one of the many options provided by Trichy. The nearest hotel is pretty good, it is Hotel Grand Gardenia. You can check it out from the traveling websites. Also, there are a lot of other cheap hotels within 200 m of the bus stand. Sangam is one of the best hotels in Trichy. It is also quite near to the main bus stand. SRM is also equally good. For your stay in Trichy, Ramya's Hotels is the best hotel which is near to the Railway Station and Central Bus Stand. They have different types of rooms according to the guest's expectations. The hostel facilities provided in NIT Trichy are excellent. There are many hostels in this college but the best hostel for the students is the Diamond hostel. Diamond hostel: The facilities available inside this hostel are amazing and the ventilation available inside the rooms is top class. The hostel is located in a very good spot with the mess, canteens, and lecture halls are nearby. There are also two well-maintained rooms which are specially made to play table tennis. There are some other hostels too inside the NIT Trichy campus which are as follows. Agate: The location of this hostel is excellent but there are a lot of issues with the wifi speed and the ventilation available is not good. Jade: This hostel is also very good and is above average in everything except for the location of the lecture rooms and the canteen is very far away from the hostel and it is a big disadvantage. Coral: The location of this hostel is as good as agate but the condition of the rooms inside this hostel is very poor.
