IIT Guwahati BTech Eligibility Criteria

Applicant must fulfill the following criteria to get admission:

  • Qualifying exam which is JEE Advanced is to be qualified with at least announced cut-off marks
  • Must have completed JoSAA(Joint Seat Allocation Authority) counseling 10+2 with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects.
  • At least 75% marks in PCM.

IIT Guwahati BTech Admission Guidelines

IIT Guwahati being one of the best engineering colleges in India offers admissions on the basis of JEE Mains and Advanced ranking. To get admission to IITG one must appear for JoSAA counseling.

How to Apply?

  • Register yourself for JoSAA counseling online once you have qualified for JEE Mains or/and JEE Advanced.
  • Fill in your choices of a college. The applicant will be provided a period of 10 days to lock their choices.
  • JoSAA conducts a Mock seat allotment process to provide a basic idea of colleges to the student. So applicants may change their choices on the basis of mock seat allotment.
  • JoSAA allows the seat after choice locking and applicants may accept, reappear in the next round or reject the allotted seat as per their requirement.
  • After acceptance of seats, the applicant should download a provisional seat allotment letter and pay the Seat Acceptance fee which is around 35000 INR (15000 INR for reserved category).
  • Lastly, report to reporting centers for document verification. 
  • The applicant has to finally visit the allotted institute for confirmation.

IIT Guwahati has introduced an all-new program named BTech in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence. Interested students need to clear the JEE Main followed by JEE Advanced to get admission into the course. Ques.Can a Candidate change my branch after admission to the IIT Guwahati BTech program?

Ans.Although students are not allowed to change branches, the institute can permit this in special cases. The student should have completed the first two semesters with the required credit. Eligible students will be asked to apply through a form issued by the institute. The change of branch will be done on a merit basis calculated based on the CPI at the end of the second semester.
