NIT Surathkal - a college to remember.

Remarks :

Got in through the josaa admission process after JEE. The admission process was pretty simple and well-guided. If you are SC/ST you will get full college as well as hostel fee remission whereas for obc and open EWS having income less than 5 lakh will get half or full college fees reemitted. The college atmosphere and fests are very cool. Do opt for this college for any branch u get.

Course Curriculum Overview :

I am currently in 2nd-year 3rd sem, The college curriculum is chill till now, mostly you have to work on your own interests and develop your skills at max. I am pursuing a btech in mechanical engineering and a minor in CS, well opting for mechanical was a decision I took due to a keen interest in physics but I will suggest you go through the course curriculum if you are opting for any branch in any college.

Internships Opportunities :

There are many industries like ex-on mobile, bajaj, tata, and cognizant, and many software companies come and pick students for internships also offer you a PPO(pre-placement offer) depending on your work. The internship stipend can go from 10000 to 60000

Placement Experience :

Campus placement is 100 per cent mostly in all the branches, though there are some students who fail and remain in the backlog for a certain time everyone surely get opportunities in big number. Also for applying off campus the college name plays an important role.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

Campus placement after 4 yrs of btech engineering is sure in this college according to seniors, regarding internship it's a bit tough but there are plenty of opportunities in 3rd yr for campus internships if you are good in your skills and confident in an interview you will crack an internship for sure. Fees are a bit high but if your family income is less then no need to worry you can easily avail of scholarship benefits.

Campus Life :

Campus life is very great though compared to top iit's it packs many things but fests and all are really enjoyable. There are various clubs you can choose in your first and second year that will give you a pretty good idea about opportunities, events as well and competitions.

Hostel Facilities :

You will face little difficulty in your first year in hostel life but as you go along you will get used to the hostel life and mess food. North indians might not get satisfied with the mess food but overall the food is good and options for veg as well as non veg is available.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose this course as I was interested in game development and I wanted to learn coding. All the teaching faculty in the college have PhD degree in their respective subjects. Teaching method can be improved as they just read pdf rather than make the class interesting. Term exams take place every two months and there are only two term exams which are mid sem and end sem. Difficulty of exams is moderate.
