ISI- The Mathematician's Paradise.

Remarks :

Anyone with Mathematics and English as subjects in 10+2 is eligible to apply. Application forms are available on the website www.isical.ac.in. Student Brochure and application dates can be found there as well. The course fee is zero(no kidding).

Course Curriculum Overview :

Mathematics has always been my passion. However, in today's world, applications are as important as theory. After all, "theory will only take you so far :). That's why I opted for a Statistics Course. The faculty-to-student ratio is excellent. Every student gets personalised attention and almost everyone on campus knows everyone else. Most of our professors have Ph. D.s from Ivy League universities like Stanford, UC Berkley, etc. Almost all did their undergraduate study in ISI. Term exams are no joke here at ISI. If you do not study throughout the semester, you WILL fail( event happens with probability= 1).

Internships Opportunities :

Internship opportunities are offered to students from 2nd year onwards. Most of our seniors have done internships at companies like JP Morgan & Chase, etc. More details can be found on the placement Brochure. Overall, for those people who love maths, ISI is THE BEST option, even more than IITs. I can say this with confidence since I left IIT Kgp Systems for ISI. Such students are very common in ISI. Unfortunately, a vast majority of students are not aware of this wonderful opportunity.

Placement Experience :

Students get placement offers in the first year of M.Stat. In general, however, most students prefer to go abroad for higher studies. Students who sit for placements mostly get placed in Finance and Analytics companies, typically in Business Analyst, Risk Analyst and other roles. ISI has a 100% placement record for B.Stat- M.Stat students. Companies like Goldman Sachs, McKinsey & Co., JP Morgan & Chase, Amazon, etc. come for placements. Last year, the highest package offered was 56 lpa with the package being 28 lpa. M.Tech CS had the highest overall package at 89 lpa.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

You are not required to pay any fees. All you need is a great deal of cranial capacity and the ability to work hard. Moreover, every student receives a stipend of Rs. 5000 per month, provided they maintain certain academic standards(as mentioned in the Rules and Regulations). You may also apply for other scholarships instead of the one provided by the institute.

Campus Life :

The Annual Fest " Integration" is organized in the months of January and February. It consists of several chapters, namely MTRP, Tech Chapter, Cultural Chapter and Sports Chapter. The ISI library has a rich collection of books and the latest scientific journals. Campus life mainly revolves around studying. Apart from that there is scope for cultural activities like music and creative writing. ISI students love to play football and table tennis, besides challenging others with interesting math problems. The atmosphere is very homely. The seniors are very helpful and honestly the best. They organize a batch treat for the freshers every year.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I want to explore the world that's why I chose this course. The student ratio is not accurate but approximately it would be approximately 36:17. The only qualification benchmark is your marks and the teaching process is very efficient. The difficulty of the exam depends on the student.

From the fifth to sixth semester students are eligible to do internships and get placements. For sixth-semester students, it is compulsory to take an intership as it is part of the assignment and we get marks for it. Almost 70-80 percent of students get their placement from college.

Placement Experience:

The course in which I was enrolled had no placement options after Bachelors. So, after completing this Bachelor's course most of us enrolled in a Master's course while some went to pursue an MBA. However, there is a placement cell in our college. Students from various departments who are interested in getting jobs after completion of their degree can register there and explore the options available.
