Remarks :
I passed my 12th final exam from Nabadwip Bakultala High School Under the West Bengal Higher Secondary Board of Education in the year 2018 with a percentage of 84.2. Thereafter I applied for a BSC honours course in Mathematics in Krishnagar Government College via their online portal. Application fees and dates all were notified by the college on their own site. Application fees were around 1500 rupees. So, there was no issue with finding out all of this information in time. The eligibility of this course is very simple. One should pass his/her 12th final exam to apply for this course. And according to the merits of those students they will be shortlisted later and the shortlisted students will be called upon for counselling in the department. Being a SC candidate I was called upon in 2nd councelling and I took admission there. Overall 90% marks in the 12th exam and at least 85% marks in math are good enough for a general category student to get admission in this course. By the way, I got a 99% mark in math.
Course Curriculum Overview :
As per my considerations, I was decent enough in mathematics and I had a good amount of interest in this subject. I scored 99% mark in math in both my 10th and 12th exams. As my final aim was to go with a career in civil service, I was not supposed to do engineering where I had to invest one extra year. That was my thought before opting for this course. In our department, there were around 42 students and professors were 4 in number, which I think is a balanced ratio. Our HOD was an associate professor and all other 3s were assistant professors. Everyone has a PhD degree in their respective domain of mathematics. 2 internal exams are held every semester, sometimes followed by viva. The level of internal exams is moderate in nature. Thereafter our final semester exam is conducted in which the students have to go to other colleges to appear for the final sem exam. Exams are conducted in time and the students have a fair idea of when and how they will be shown.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
Fees are minimal. It was around 1700 rupees per year. Now it would rise a bit. But, even it is very rational and reasonable. Yes, financial assistance is there for the needy students. All kinds of scholarships provided by state and central governments can be availed under this course, like the Vivekananda Scholarship of the WB Government. Under this campus, there is no such job one can do with a stripen.
Campus Life :
Campus life is not so good, not so bad. Infrastructure wise the college campus is not up to the mark. There is no such maintained playground or gymnasium on the campus. The college conducts its annual sports events and various occasions events like Independence Day, Republic Day, and Teachers Day. Saraswati Puja is such an event celebrated vividly. I witnessed a tech fest on my college campus in my second year. But any big cultural fest or any monthly fest/program wasn't there. The library is composed of so many books on various topics. However, library culture is not that prominent. Chalk, duster, electricity, bench, chair, and table like such common amenities that are available in the classroom. They are not equipped with smart boards or any other updated modern educational tool. The college students union is there and they do some course activities in terms of addressing students' problems. But this thing will not be that much helpful without having a direct political coexistence.
