AR

If you are a student of Calicut University, you will have a lot of extracurricular activities to look forward to. The university has many student organizations and clubs and you have a lot to choose from. Some student organisations, clubs, and activities are listed below:

  • National Service Scheme (NSS)

  • National Cadet Crop (NCC)

  • Sports activities like cycling, wrestling m, hockey, kabaddi, etc. The university conducts championship competitions between the colleges. These champions are made eligible for National Level Competitions.

  • There is a championship in Yoga as well. This helps students establish stable mental health.

  • Add on courses like coaching for civil service examinations, bank coaching tests, and so on.

These clubs and organisations help in improving academic performance. These are especially helpful for students who are weak in academics. They can score fairly well if they excel in sports or any other activities.

Shall I apply for all the three courses of NITIE Mumbai or just one? Is it worth it?

AS
Arish Sengar Posted On : August 12th, 2021
MBA from National Institute of Industrial Engineering Mumbai (2019)

As one of my friends made it to the institution through CAT and is pursuing PGDIM, I might be able to help you with your question.

To get shortlisted for the programs at NITIE Mumbai, there are two exam options:

CAT

  • To get a call for the GP and PI round meant for the flagship program at NITIE, you need to score more than 97 percentile.
  • The placements are good for this program.
  • PGDISEM is another program that you can apply for with your CAT score.
  • The cut-off is usually around 86 percentile.
  • It is related to the environment and the placements are also specific to the area.
  • I would suggest you opt for this course only if you are interested in the environmental area.

GATE

  • You can apply for PGDIE through your GATE score.
  • PGDIE and PGDIM have placements in the same pool.
  • The course is good and you also get a stipend.

All the courses stand out because of their uniqueness. If placements are concerned, all these courses are the same. However, apart from these courses, PP and PM are two other courses that you can opt for with CAT scores. But, these are new courses and have poor placement records therefore, I would recommend not opt for these.

Is IBS Hyderabad worth joining considering the return on investment?

RS
Rashmi Singh Posted On : February 16th, 2023
MBA in Marketing, ICFAI Business School, Hyderabad (Graduated 2018)

Before I give you a picture of the ROI offered at IBS Hyderabad, let’s clear some misconceptions regarding what ROI is.

People usually calculate ROI by comparing the fees they have spent with the package they are offered during placements. For instance, if someone pays a fee of 16 Lakhs, they expect a package of nothing less than 10 Lakhs. And if they fail to get placed with such a package, they consider the ROI to be at fault. This in reality is the wrong way to comprehend the ROI. ROI is much more than the package you are offered. ROI includes almost everything you get from the college like

  • A campus with world-class infrastructure and amenities like fitness, recreational, educational, and extracurricular
  • Highly comfortable and clean hostel rooms that make your stay of 2 years a smooth one
  • The best faculty pool that motivates and guides you throughout your college life and helps you find your right path
  • The food at the mess that is healthy and tasty
  • Other safety measures that ensure your stay at IBS a good one

Only after considering these points, is the final ROI in the form of placements taken into consideration. Now if you work hard and maintain the top position you are likely to get a good package ranging from 10-45 LPA. But this depends on how you have spent the 2 years and your commitment to the course.

So ultimately I will say yes, IBS Hyderabad is definitely worth joining considering its ROI.

Which one should I choose, an MS in IIT Madras or an M.Tech in IIT Hyderabad?

Ritesh Prasad Posted On : May 19th, 2023

Whether you should choose MS in IIT Madras Or MTech in IIT Hyderabad depend on what your plans are after completing your Masters.

If you want to get employed right away, MTech is a more preferable option than MS. IIT Madras being one of the oldest and highly reputed IITs, is better for an MTech than IIT Hyderabad, a relatively new IIT. You will be surprised to know that IIT Madras has been consistently ranked 1 by the NIRF Rankings in 2022 for the fourth time in a row and Internationally, IIT Madras was ranked 255 in the QS World University Rankings of 2022.

I think pursuing MS from IIT Madras is a good choice given the quality of research work at IIT Madras. The only problem is research takes around 2.5-3.5 years while MTech can be done in 2 years. Here are the placement statistics of both the institutes

IIT Madras MTech placements

Highest CTC

INR 46.08 LPA

Median CTC

INR 13.02 LPA

Number of students registered

277

Number of students placed

212

Placement percentage

76.53%

If you are certain of doing a PhD after your Masters, go for MS from IIT Madras definitely. But if you want to sit for placements within 2 years, an MTech program from either IITs will be helpful.

Can I become a professor after completing my MBA in Finance from IIM-Kozhikode? I can wait to have some work experience. In which colleges, can I have a chance of becoming a professor?

DB
Devika Bhoomi Posted On : September 20th, 2021
Ph.D Mechanical Engineering & Acoustics, Indian Institute of Technology, Bhubaneswar (2019)

There are certain sets of procedures that need to be followed to become a professor in Finance or any other field.

  • At first, you need to clear the entrance examination for Lectureship in the designated domain.
  • After that, find the colleges that have vacancies to teach in that particular domain and get selected for teaching.

Your best available option is to apply for a professor in the university where you have completed your post-graduation. If you were acquainted with the graduate committee, they can recommend you as an assistant professor. It would be better if you start working in the industry related to Financial services as a fresher and gain some work experience. And simultaneously, you can be a visiting lecturer in the colleges that offer MBA Programs.

Which colleges should I prefer if not IIMs and XLRI?

UR
Urvashi Rao Posted On : June 14th, 2021
BM from Xavier School of Management (2019)

I would definitely recommend such institutes that are categorized within the Top 20 B-Schools of India. These institutes have not been put in any correct order or rank as it tends to fluctuate each year. Because of a standard and perfection like that, the competition to get into such B-Schools is immense and one has to work very hard for it.

Here is the list of colleges you can consider apart from IIM and XLRI.

IIFT Delhi

FMS Delhi

SIBM Pune

MDI Gurgaon

SPJIM Mumbai

ISB Hyderabad

SJMSOM, IIT Bombay

JBIMS Mumbai

XIMB

DMS, IIT Delhi

One good thing about such fine and popular B-Schools is that they know what they are doing. They understand how to mold a student for a particular specialization or even a subject, for that matter.

Can I get a call from ximb with 192 NMAT?

NG
Nitin Ghosal Posted On : April 20th, 2021
B. Tech from National Institute of Technology, Rourkela (2019)

Since the cut-offs range around and over 190+, there is a vivid chance of you getting the admission call from Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneshwar (XIMB). If you in any chance put your target for the XIMB-HR department, then you should definitely make sure to obtain a good scoring in the LS section of NMAT, which is basically the Language Section.

  • Revised in 2020 by GMAC, NMAT is supposed to be centered around having 12 questions less when compared to 2019.
  • As also mentioned by a friend who appeared in NMAT, is to prepare thoroughly for the GD-PI section which certainly can fetch you XIMB. It is because your score is just above the cutoff, and an additional good GD-PI is supposed to affect your score on the upper side of the hill.
  • The scoring rate and other relative factors are subjected to vary as per guidelines, and the year date. The NMAT score for XIMB from the past year was estimated at a different rate. The outlook of which is mentioned beneath:

Look at the various cut-off ranges, that similarly are subject to change each year, as per criterion. The following data is:

  • HRM - 87 percentile, or 190–200
  • RM - 70 percentile, or 150–170

Although, the high chance of getting a seat in the institution somewhat depends on the GD-PI, and interview.
