How better is Shyam Lal College evening for a B.A. Hons in political science?
One of my friends studied at Shyam Lal College (SLC) Evening. Let me share his views about the college which might give you some information.
- The overall performance of the faculty is average. Ad-hoc teachers only take regular classes.
- The student crowd is not good. Students who are focused on their career are less, therefore have no sense of enthusiasm or competition.
- The library is not good. Lots of study materials are unavailable.
- Due to careless teaching and less dedication in studies, the students during the internals are bound to get low scores.
- No extracurricular activities take place. Societies are for namesake. They exist only on papers.
It is suggested that you opt for other colleges because if you are very ambitious, you might get disheartened studying here.
What are the reasons that someone could be rejected by IIM Ahmedabad after AW-PI after getting 99.7 percentile score in the CAT exam?
If you think just getting a good CAT score is enough to get into IIM, you are wrong. Let’s take an example of a human being, everyone is supposed to have two eyes, two ears, two hands, and two legs, it isn’t a big deal but if you don’t have either one of them, you have a big problem.
The same goes for the CAT scores of the candidates, over 500 students score 99.70+ almost every year, but not all of them can get into IIM. Here, several factors like the interview stage and reserved category seats play an important role in determining your chances to get in.
In the second round (interview), you will be checked for your performance throughout life, clarity of thoughts, your general awareness, ethics, personality, and ample other parameters. All these things have no relation with your CAT score, no matter how good you have scored you might fail in this second round which may lead to your rejection. By this, it is pretty clear that even a person having 100 percentile may get rejected at this stage.
Not to forget, the general category seats in IIM, Ahmedabad are around 200. The availability of seats is also another reason why the acceptance rate of IIM Ahmedabad is so steep.

- The placement percentage for VJTI was 95.7 % with the highest package being INR 27 LPA.
Overall, I would suggest you to go with VJTI as it offers quality education at an affordable rate from dedicated faculties. VJTI also has a strong record of placements as it calls top companies for computer engineering students every year.
Should I provide a gap certificate for NIT Jalandhar?
Yes, the gap certificate is required for admission. Don't be concerned about these secondary documents when applying. In the institute, you can give an undertaking for those documents. Students are typically given a 15-day time period, which can be extended.
These colleges are government institutions and operate in the same manner. Simply give them what they are requesting, and you will be able to obtain this document locally, wherever you are studying. There is no requirement that it be from your home state.
Does ISI Kolkata provide undergraduate courses on Computer Science?
No, unfortunately, ISI Kolkata does not provide undergraduate courses on computer science. However, the proposal for starting B.Tech in computer science has been put forward but has not landed to any conclusion yet, and is being said that in the coming future this proposal may be accepted.
For now, the present scenario of the undergraduate course in ISI Kolkata would just be B.Stat and B.Math. They both contain extensive teaching in computer programming as well as statistics.
B.Math is a combination of computer science and pure mathematics and statistics. Whereas B.Stat contains lesser topics of computer science in their syllabus than B.Math.

Students will get messages on their mobiles for receipt of their applications and during the processing of their certificates. The students will receive 3 messages. This will be from the date of receipt of the application to the dispatch of their certificates by post.
