I need help building my future between MDI Gurgaon, IIM Udaipur, and IIM Rohtak. Which college should I choose for my Postgraduate Management Program?

RA

MDI Gurgaon does, however, provide the best opportunity of the three. Because IIM A serves as its mentor, IIM Udaipur benefits from excellent pedagogy.

An IIM designation is a tasty differentiator, but most corporations do not differentiate in MBA programs except ABC.

MDI provides the best placements of the three. And, as an MBA graduate, you're all about the numbers. No college can guarantee you the job you want. However, at MDI, you will have plenty of opportunities in the field of your choice. You'll also benefit from good industry relationships built over years of goodwill. Even during downturns, some companies attend MDI on a regular basis. New IIMs have several years to build self-sustaining industry goodwill. Placements are thus unpredictable.

Nonetheless, if the IIM designation is a general requirement. The location is the new IIMs. However, you must work equally hard because that title alone does not guarantee a successful career.

Which stream should my sister opt for in BIMTECH Noida for MBA, international business or insurance?

TA
Tithi Aggrawal Posted On : May 10th, 2023
Studied at Birla Institute of Management Technology

First, you should ask your sister which subject, foreign business or insurance management, she is more interested in. It is hard to learn about a subject if you do not have an interest in it, no program can help her get the most learnings out of it.

So, help your sister to figure out what area she is interested in. Like if she wants to do business in a foreign, she should do foreign business. Help her learn about insurance if she wants to build her job around it. To be honest, both programs have a lot to offer.

BIMTECH, Greater Noida is one of the best places to go to college. For a general idea, we can say that PGDM in Foreign Business (PGDM-IB) will teach her how to deal with foreign issues and do business across all borders. She will learn more than just new ways to do business.

When she gets her PGDM in Insurance Business Management (PGDM-IBM), she will learn how to manage finances, be able to plan and control the financial resources of any business and take on more responsibilities like these.

It majorly depends on whether you have received the offer letter for the PGDM 2 years course or PGPM 1-year. If you have 2 year course from both of the colleges then go for TAPMI. But if you have an offer letter for PGPM 1-year course then go for Great Lakes, Chennai.

Is XLRI Jamshedpur at par with the top 3 IIMS (A,B,C)?

AB
Akriti Banerjee Posted On : May 5th, 2023
lives in New Delhi

XLRI is a prestigious B-school in India and is consistently ranked among the top business schools in the country. In 2022, its NIRF ranking was 8th, behind BLACKI and IIT Delhi. You should keep in mind that the criteria for these rankings may be different from what a student actually considers while selecting his preference.

Many consider it to be on par with the three renowned IIMs (A, B, C). XLRI's HR course is highly regarded. It has a batch strength of 177, ensuring a better student-to-faculty ratio, which is seen as an advantage over the IIMs. So while people’s perception may be that IIMs are better, the industry doesn’t consider it to be very far off.

SB
Suresh Banerjee Posted On : November 5th, 2020
B.Tech Information and Communications Technology, Pandit Deendayal Energy University, Gandhinagar (2020)

Both are excellent courses. Computer engineering focuses only on computer programming. ICT is a blend of ECE and computer engineering. It is perfect for students who are into programming and electronics. The institute offers BTech programs for ICT and CSE and the total course fee is 9.73 lakhs. Admission to the BTech ICT and CSE course is through JEE Main.

Here are some facts for the courses on placements, course subjects & fee structure.

Course Curriculum:

  • Computer engineering mostly involves programming, whereas ICT is a combination of programming and electronics.

  • The subjects in the first and second semesters are the same for ICT & Computer Engineering.
  • The course will become more focused on ICT and computer engineering from the third semester with subjects like Data & file structures, smart sensors & IoT, RF engineering, etc in ICT and computer graphics, embedded systems, artificial intelligence, etc in CSE.

Fee structure:

  • Both ICT and computer engineering have the same fee structure.

  • The fee structure for ICT & CSE is INR 2.53 lakhs for the 1st year. The total fee for 4 years will come to around INR 9.37 lakhs (not including hostel fees).

Faculty:

  • That faculty that teaches ICT & CSE in PDPU is well-qualified and experienced.

  • Almost all the teachers are Ph.D. holders in their respective fields.

  • The teacher to student ratio is high for ICT compared to CSE as there are 120 seats in ICT as opposed to 240 seats in CSE.

Placements:

ICT:

  • According to the placement details of 2020, the highest CTC received by the students of ICT was around 9 LPA.

  • Some of the major recruiters at the institute were TCS, Cloud 24*7 lnc, L&T Technology Services, etc.

CSE:

  • Students in computer engineering receive some of the highest placement packages compared to other departments. The highest CTC offered was around INR 35 LPA from Microsoft. The average CTC offered is around INR 6.5 LPA.

  • Some of the MNCs that provide placement opportunities for CSE students are Infosys, TCS, Tech Mahindra, Wipro, Cognizant, Mindtree, etc.

Both CSE and ICT are similar when it comes to fee structure and faculty. The placement rates for ICT students are comparably lower since it is a relatively new course. CSE students have been getting some of the most lucrative CTC packages. However, only choose a course that genuinely interests you.

I am confused over joining IIIT Guwahati and NIT Silchar for Computer Science branch. Many of my friends have warned me of poor teaching in IIITG. How far is it true?

DV
Damini Verma Posted On : June 14th, 2021
B.Tech Computer Science Engineering, Indian Institute of Information Technology, Guwahati (2022)

Both the colleges are not very good. But if you want to choose between IIIT Guwahati and NIT Silchar then it would be better to choose NIT Silchar. Because at IIIT Guwahati, the administration, infrastructure, and faculty members are not so good. If you will face any problem in the college then the administration does not even care. You will have to survive on your own.

NIT Silchar has better infrastructure as compared to IIIT Guwahati. The student union of the college will take care of the problems and they will raise their voices against them. If you have the option of not choosing northeastern colleges then you must go ahead. At the end of the day, it depends upon you how you want to spend your four years in college.

Which is better, IT in DTU or IT in NIT Surathkal?

AB
Akriti Banerjee Posted On : September 16th, 2023
lives in New Delhi

In my opinion, IT at DTU is a far better option than IT at NIT Surathkal. Here are some strong points in favor of my opinion

  • DTU has a better and more updated curriculum that meets the recent trends in the industry.
  • The quality of the professors varies everywhere. At DTU, you can find your mentor and seek his assistance constantly.
  • Infrastructure-wise both institutes are equally good with well-equipped modern labs.
  • DTU is a premiere, old, and reputed college located in the capital of India. Its location makes it one of the best engineering colleges in India.
  • In DTU you will be exposed to a better crowd in terms of intellect. Some will be introverts while some will be leaders. Some will perform below average while some will be exceptionally good.
  • Being in close proximity to IT hubs Gurgaon and Noida, DTU students are better exposed to internship and job opportunities.

While both institutes are quite well-known, choosing DTU might open better opportunities because of its prime location and rich legacy.
