How do I decide between IIT Delhi and IIT Madras for engineering physics?

AR
Aditi Roy Posted On : March 31st, 2023
lives in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, India

The curriculum of Engineering Physics at both IIT Madras and IIT Delhi is equally instructional and well-structured. The demand for this discipline has witnessed a steady increase over the past few years.

If I had to choose between IIT Delhi and IIT Madras, I would have opted for the latter. This is because

  • IIT Delhi lacks in terms of technological instruments and its infrastructure is not on par with IIT Madras yet.
  • The hostel facilities are very substandard and the quality of food served in mess is pathetic in IIT Delhi
  • The sports facilities are highly lacking and the infrastructure is also average
  • There are illogical restrictions on the use of the Internet.

In my opinion, unless it’s a matter of locational preference, go for IIT Madras over IIT Delhi any day. You won’t be able to enjoy your college life to the fullest here.

Is it possible to get an education loan before admission in IIM Bodh Gaya? Is a co-borrower necessary as my parents income is 1 lakhs per year?

RC
Rahul Chaurasia Posted On : January 21st, 2023
Lives in Gaya, Bihar, India

Getting educational loans for admission at an IIM is fairly easy due to their high credibility. You should present the required documents like a copy of your admission offer letter along with the receipt of the amount paid by you as the offer acceptance fee to the bank and they will start your loan process. Also, this amount will be reimbursed by the bank if you want it to be included in your loan amount.

As far as co-browser is concerned, it’s completely unnecessary as you don’t need to have your family member as your co-browser. Also there isn’t need of any collateral as well and your family’s income has no relation with the loan whatsoever.

The best part of getting an education loan for joining any IIM is that you don’t have to contact the banks. They themselves will contact you as they know their investment will be worth the return. The entire procedure is unexpectedly smooth. Just visit your nearest branch to get your documents verified and you can proceed with the rest of the process online.

Does working at an NGO or doing an internship count as work experience when gaining admission to institutions like the IIMs, XLRI, or FMS?

AS
Arunabha Sinha Posted On : August 3rd, 2022
Studied at XLRI School of Business & Human Resources

No, in most cases, IIMs, XLRI, and FMS don’t count internships or working at an NGO as work experience. These institutes usually have a clear policy regarding work experience. Paid work experiences after graduation are counted.

You can add your internships or experience of working in NGO to your CV, under extracurricular activities. These experiences do add some importance to your resume, as it shows you have some sort of experience in that area.

NITIE Mumbai is not just for Mechanical Engineering students. The student crowd of this institute includes students from all engineering branches. So, if you clear the GATE cutoff, you can join NITIE, irrespective of your branch.

Mechanical Engineering students have an advantage as they study a subject called Industrial Engineering. But you don’t need to worry because NITIE courses cover the basics as well. So, you will get the chance to clear your concepts.

How good are your chances to get into PhD economics at MIT/Harvard/Stanford after completing MA economics from DSE or MSQE from ISI Delhi/Kolkata?

DS
Debarghya Sanyal Posted On : September 4th, 2021
Studied at Indian Statistical Institute, graduated in 2020

Getting admission to MIT, Harvard or Stanford can be possible from ISI Delhi. It has a very good Economics Unit. However, the same cannot be said about ISI Kolkata and also MSQE, for that matter. Do not expect to get into MIT or Harvard or Stanford by studying in ISI Kolkata.

It goes without saying that you will have to have and maintain an excellent academic record to even be considered for admission to the institutes you aspire to study in. And you also must have a good reference with the faculty so that they can write letters of recommendation for you.
