What is the international immersion program at IIM Sirmaur?

KM
Kushal Motwani Posted On : January 18th, 2023
P.G.D.M in Master of Business Administration Degrees, Indian Institute of Management Indore (Graduated 2014)

This program recently initiated by IIM Sirmaur targets students who want International Exposure. It’s actually a rich blend of the IIM curriculum and added exposure to international business practices, strategic operations management, and current issues in the European markets.

The duration of the program is 1 month. The pedagogy comprises industry visits and weekend trips which facilitate classroom learning and help the students comprehend the context better.

For a better understanding, let me narrate my sister's experience. She flew to Milan, the fashion capital of the world. On the weekdays the entire focus was given to studying at SDA Bocconi and weekends were a getaway for traveling and exploring. She describes the teaching method as spectacular. The faculty was very experienced and highly learned and taught them to find the solutions to the toughest problem in the simplest and most systematic way. The industry visit to Ferrari and Maserati was the cherry on the cake. She was also able to explore Europe's famous places like Matterhorn Glacier Paradise, Lugano Lake, Mont Brie, Genova, etc., and the marvelous architecture of Rome, Florence, and Pisa.

All in all, she claims that the experience of IIP broadened her mindset and perspective to see things from different dimensions. It provided a sense of self-development and made her realize that the world is filled with unlimited opportunities.

How can I get a duplicate mark sheet from Annamalai University DDE if I lost it?

TM
Taara Malhotra Posted On : November 19th, 2022
PhD Research Scholar (2013–present)

If you have misplaced your mark sheet, you may contact or visit the appropriate department. Then you must submit a letter to the registrar detailing your requirements. They will then send it via courier. Instead of a duplicate, you ask for the original mark sheet.

Try to be aware and vigilant while handling your documents so that they do not get lost.

How is IIM Kozhikode for HR?

S
Sumit Posted On : November 15th, 2022
Post Graduate Diploma in Management from Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode

IIM Kozhikode does not offer any specialization degree. It offers a General Management or PGDM (Post Graduate Diploma in Management). This is somewhat equivalent to an MBA. It doesn’t offer specific PGDM in Operations, Finance, HR, etc.

A variety of electives are offered in the second year. You may choose these on the basis of your interests and the career you wish to pursue.

The area offers a list of elective courses in which the students choose to have a career in the human resource field or develop their people management competency. Some elective courses are as follows:

  1. Legal Aspects of HRM

  2. Strategic HRM

  3. Some Recent OB Inputs for Enhancing Employee Performance and Humanistic Orientation in Workplace

  4. Compensation and Rewards Management

  5. Performance Management

  6. Leadership: Applied, Conceptual and Evolving

  7. Discovering Self

  8. Negotiations & Conflicts Resolution

  9. Management Consulting: Profession and Practice

  10. Managing Creativity

  11. Organization Change and Development

  12. Recruitment & Selection

Honestly, IIM Kozhikode is not a good option for HR. IIM Ranchi or SCMHRD are better options for the same.

Should I leave IIEST Shibpur for IISER Bhopal engineering sciences?

SS
Sukanya Saha, Posted On : November 9th, 2021
M.Tech Mechanical Engineering, Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology, Shibpur (2019)

This completely depends on your choice and preferences. The only thing you should take into account is how the course will benefit your career ahead.

  • IIEST Shibpur and IISER Bhopal offer different career paths.
  • IIEST Shibpur is an engineering college and will push you most probably into a technical or corporate line.
  • IISER has a completely different approach. It focuses on scientific research and you will most probably end up in academia or research-oriented jobs.
  • IIEST is a very old and reputed institute in the country and definitely, its placements will be better compared to IISER Bhopal.

This decision entirely depends on you. Choose which career path you want to avail yourself and work toward establishing it.

Should I go for the Integrated MTech course in IIEST or rather do the BTech in Jadavpur University or some NIT (say, DGP or Calicut) and then try and get a better college for my MTech?

AG
Anindita Ghose Posted On : October 26th, 2021
B.E. Civil Engineering, Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology, Shibpur (2017)

I have a few friends from IIEST. According to them, choosing IIEST can be good. For departments like Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Mining, the faculty base of IIEST is great. The civil engineering department at IIEST is one of the oldest in the country. Also, as per the new norm, you don’t have to complete a dual degree.

You can have an exit option after completing your 4-Year B.Tech. Which is definitely a good option. However, if you want to choose CS/IT, for placements, top or average NIT/JU will offer better placement opportunities.

So, consider all your options and choose according to your convenience.

How good is IIT Tirupati when compared to top engineering colleges in Hyderabad like CBIT, Vasavi, VNR etc.?

SP
Shagun Prajapati Posted On : August 31st, 2021
B.Tech Electronics, and Instrumentation, VNR Vignana Jyothi Institute of Engineering and Technology (2016)

IIT is a brand and they are better than any engineering college in India. It does not matter whether the IIT is new or old, IITs are best in terms of faculty and students, which matters for getting a good education.

The directors of all the IITs have financial authority and this empowers them to do the best for the institution. The directors of other engineering institutes lack this authority and thus this puts certain restrictions on their functioning.

Earlier, it was believed that IITs are only meant for research purposes and only those should study at IITs who want to pursue research in engineering and technology. But over years, this theory was put to an end.

However, remember that just having the tag of an IITian does not assure a stellar career. It depends on your hard work and perseverance. You can achieve anything that you want in your life by working towards it every day.

The “IITian” tag is enough. IIT Tirupati has maintained good standards like any other IIT. You should go for it.

Why is MEC Thrikkakara opted for by Keralites more often than CUSAT SOE?

SC
Sayani Chaki Posted On : July 29th, 2021
Studied at Commits Bangalore (2019)

Having friends studying in both institutes, I can say that MEC has a better (on-campus) placement record than SOE CUSAT.

  • CUSAT is also good overall but passing papers is such a difficult challenge. Only a few candidates are eligible to participate in placements.
  • As a result, most of the companies hesitate to visit campus for placements. But students are doing well in off-campus placements.
  • This institution was originally part of Cochin University, and it was regarded as one of the university's best colleges in terms of amenities, location, and excellent faculty.
  • However, this college, along with many others, has recently merged to become Kerala Technical University, resulting in a drop in demand for admission.

This has improved the facilities and educational quality and certificate value for CUSAT at both campuses. The top scorers tend to opt for CUSAT rather than KTU.

Which is better, IIT Indore for metallurgical and material science or NIT Rourkela for electrical?

AB
Akriti Banerjee Posted On : July 1st, 2023
lives in New Delhi

IIT Indore is the better option for you, as they have experienced scholars who conduct effective classes for the students. There are a lot of misconceptions about IIT Indore, as they are new to this field and lack an alumni network, but they are more advanced than any other institute in India. They provide a resourceful atmosphere and good infrastructure facilities for the students. The final decision should be based on your core interests; for that, you can check the official website for the course curriculum in both institutes.

I got back in maths 3 AKTU and I need one mark grace, can I get that automatically or do I have to apply for that? I am in 3rd year, batch 2016-2020.

BV
Bharat Verma Posted On : November 17th, 2022
B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University (Graduated 2021)

AKTU offers an automated grace marking system. You don’t have to apply for grace marks the university will handle automatically.

Some new provisions that have been added recently regarding grace marks are:

  • A total of 40 marks can be used in the course of 4 years of B.Tech..

  • Maximum 15 grace marks can be used to clear a particular subject and for this you should have scored at least 15% marks in that subject.

  • Your result will mention PWG (Pass With Grace).

For example if you have scored 15 out of 100, you will be granted 15 marks automatically and clear the exam. There is no need to apply for grace marks.
