My honest review of IIM Lucknow is that no matter what gibberish you hear about it, it’s one of the best B Schools out there. The outstanding balance of ambiance, infrastructure, library, faculty, and a student-gender ratio ensures that you focus on your goals and studies completely.
My friend recently passed out from this institute and says that she has learned a lot from it. It has taught her to stay tight on her goals and not complain about tiny things. It has taught her to have realistic expectations and goals and how to achieve them.
The deadlines and rigor keep you on your toes and helps you acquire amazing time-management and pressure-handling skills.
Also, the batch at IIM Lucknow is very interactive and friendly so you won’t feel left out and end up making some friends for life.
Here are some helpful tips for students starting their first year at NIT Silchar
Hope this helps you!
B.Tech CSE from NIT Silchar is a good choice. Here are some parameters to assess it-
Thus, you can definitely consider NIT Silchar for your B.Tech CSE course.
The timing for degree college students are alloted according to their degree.
The timings for respective degree classes are as follow:
First Year : 11:30 AM – 5:00 PM
Second and Third Year : 7:00 AM - 1:00 PM
These timings are for science stream students only.
For Arts and Commerce students the timing is the same but the time range varies as their subjects do not have practicals. Their lectures get over before the science stream students.
BMS and some other un-aided departments have lectures between 12 PM and 2:40 PM for the first or third-year students. Science students usually have lectures from 7–11 AM, followed by practicals till 4 PM which can extend upto 5 PM.
As an alumnus of B.Tech Chemical at NIT Durgapur, I will throw some light on the faculty and placements of our course.
The faculty of Chemical Engineering is good. Some professors help students find internships in industries and research institutes. They are- Dr. Tamal Mandal,
Dr. P P Gupta, Dr. S. Dutta, Dr. JP Sarkar, and Dr. S Haldar.
Some professors aren’t very strict on attendance. They are- Dr. Jaya Sikder, Dr. Swapan Paruya, Dr. M K Mandal, Dr. Bimal Das and Dr. Gopinath Haldar.
My favorite professor is Dr. P Pal. He has a deep knowledge of his field and great teaching skills.
Now, coming over to placements. The students are placed both on campus and off campus. As per the official data, 83.33% of students from B.Tech Chemical were placed at an average salary of INR 8.87 LPA during the 2023 placement season. The placements are good overall.
NIT Durgapur is a decent college for Chemical Engineering. You will have a good time here.
There are a number of reasons why NIT Silchar does not enjoy a good reputation like other NITs. The remote location and poor connectivity seem to be the major factors contributing to the poor reputation. Other major reasons are
All the above factors combined have resulted in a poor reputation of NIT Silchar in comparison to other NITs.
In my opinion, IIT Roorkee is a better option for Engineering in Biotechnology. This department was established in 2002 and is a subdomain of Chemical Engineering. Over the past few years, it has grown by leaps and bounds in every aspect. It has excellent connections with good pharma companies. IDPL, Rishikesh is very close to Roorkee. Additionally, Delhi and the NCR cities like Gurgaon, Noida, and Faridabad which are home to many pharma companies are in close proximity to the Institute. The placement scenario of Biotechnology at IIT Roorkee has been decent till now. The faculty is very approachable and helps you secure internships.
In terms of academics and facilities, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology isn’t good. The syllabus and the curriculum are outdated. The examination and evaluation system is flawed. Mugging up the syllabus right before the examination is sufficient to score 8-pointers. Placements usually depend on the college. Usually, IT companies visit the campus placements of the university.
My cousin is studying at the newly started IT branch. She thinks it is actually a good one.
The placements at the IT branch are as good as CSE and ECE.
The faculty is almost the same as that of CSE.
The academics and curriculum are fairly good at this branch.
So if you get into the IT branch at NIT Jalandhar it’s a good opportunity.
Both the institutes are well-regarded in the field of technical education but if I had to choose one, I would have gone for IIT Indore without any second thoughts. Here’s why
All these points are more than enough to convince you to choose IIT Indore over IIT Ropar.
