I am an alumnus of B.Tech CSE from IIIT Delhi. I joined in 2008. These were the two most difficult courses in CSE during my time-
Only 2008 and 2009 batch students got to study under Khushil Saini. He taught Digital Circuits to first-semester students, and Computer Organization to second-semester students. Sir taught at NSUT before joining IIIT Delhi. 12 was the most one could score in Computer Organization, to pass with a D grade. However, some students did manage to score mid-twenties and get a B grade in both faculty subjects. Lab practicals were their saving grace.
But while his marking scheme was so frightening, sir was a very polite person. He addressed us as a friend and was not threatening at all. Then there was the Theory of Computation taught by Dr. Astrid Kiehn. From a class of 60, 26 of us failed his course.
In spite of every hardship, I miss IIIT Delhi since graduating from this college.
Thapar University has a rich legacy and was established even before India became an independent nation. TIET has been ranked 22nd position in the University Category and 40th in the Overall Category in NIRF Ranking 2023.
Thapar University has been recording splendid campus placements with many MNCs like Google, Microsoft, and Amazon offering lucrative packages to students. The highest CTC recorded in 2022 stood at INR 40 LPA whereas the average CTC was recorded at INR 10.97 LPA respectively. Thapar University Center for Industrial Liaison & Placement (CILP) is a body that organizes campus interviews to provide placement training to final-year students of all branches.
However, Thapar University has very low cutoffs because of its increasing fees. The institute is in a state of rapid development and needs funds to improve its infrastructure. The cutoffs are expected to restore better standards once the institute is well-developed.
Thapar University is a decent choice for a private college and can be considered if you failed to make it to BITS Pilani.
Although many might not agree, I think ECE is much better than electrical engineering. People tend to choose IID mainly because of the brand name that comes attached to it. If the tag was to be negated, then by all terms IIT Roorkee is better than IIT Delhi’s Electrical Engineering.
Moreover, I feel Electrical has too much workload both in IIT Delhi as well as Roorkee. This does not save you time for extracurricular activities.
Delhi is one of the most polluted cities in India and does affect the overall educational experience of the students. Although my personal suggestion is to opt for IIT Roorkee ECE, it’s better to talk to students from both institutes and branches.
IIM Ahmedabad is distinguished by its people. People include not only students but also faculty members.
Faculty: Each class at IIM A is taught by an extremely renowned academician with extensive industry experience who shares their domain of expertise and discusses their learnings over the years. At IIM A, students have the chance to interact with them, which makes the place very unique.
Students: Students at IIM A come from a wide range of backgrounds. Aside from conventional streams like engineers and CAs, it also has people with backgrounds in humanities, law, psychology, and medicine. You become open to new ideas and have the chance to learn from others' experiences when you are in a class with such a diverse group of students. You will come across some of the most gifted, diligent, and modest individuals here who are eager to work together and develop mutually.
The experience at IIM Ahmedabad is therefore extremely enriching due to the distinctive blending of diverse peers and professors.
UGC AIU and UGC DEB do not approve PG diploma courses. You can get WES ECA approval if you have a distance MBA degree and not a PG diploma.
You can opt for distance MBA courses offered by NGASCE. These courses are designed according to the industry requirements and offer excellent career opportunities.
IGNOU, ICFAI, SMU, SGVU, and LPU are other reputed universities that offer distance MBA.
It is based on whether you are from Himachal or not. A general category student needs to score between 100 and 110 marks to secure a seat in this institute. Students from other states need to score at least 140 in JEE Main to get into the last branch of NIT Hamirpur.
My sister was a student at IIT Kharagpur and had a few suggestions that could be made to improve the academic situation of the Institute.
If such changes are made then definitely the few loopholes in the academic efficiency of the Institute can be taken care of.
The first thing that comes to my mind is the accessibility. Chandigarh University is around 17 kms away from Chandigarh and there are less transportation facilities to commute from Chandigarh to the university. LPU, on the other hand is 19 kms away from Jalandhar, but the campus is established on the main route.
As far as the placement department is concerned, more than 500+ recruiters visit the campus for placements every year. BTech CSE placements at LPU recorded INR 42 lakhs as the highest salary package. Additionally, LPU had 110+ recruiters from top colleges like IITs, IIMs, and NITs. The highest monthly stipend for any kind of internship at LPU is around 80k.
So in my opinion, LPU is better for CSE than Chandigarh University.
No, it is not necessary to have work experience to get into NITIE Mumbai through GATE. NITIE Mumbai, like any other college, tries to diversify its batch so that every recruiter who visits the campus for placement gets the student profile they are looking for.
In short, you do not necessarily need work experience to get into NITIE Mumbai through GATE. But then it depends on various other factors like past academic records, GATE scores, extra-curricular activities, and many more.
I think applying for the usual revaluation in JNTUH is useless because mostly the difference in marks is 0. However, the challenge evaluation is worth the try.
I know many friends whose marks increased drastically after applying for challenge evaluation despite being the same after the normal revaluation. Unfortunately, this is how the scenario is here and you have no choice but to apply for it.
However, this process is very costly, around 10000 out of which 9000 can be redeemed if there is an increase in marks. So it’s advisable to go for a challenge evaluation especially if it's a question of promotion or an active backlog right before your placements.
