It’s true that Thapar University has a maximum Punjabi population because of its location. But this certainly does not mean that non-Punjabis feel out of place here. In fact, one of my friends from UP claimed that most of his friends are Punjabis because they are truly genuine and would help you in any way possible. Even the locals are very friendly and you won’t feel left out even for a moment.
I have many friends at Thapar University who are non-Punjabis but haven’t ever faced any kind of discrimination or discomfort there.
Moreover, Thapar has strict rules and regulations regarding the consumption of drug substances. Thapar has a Zero Tolerance Policy for Drugs and Alcohol on the University Campus.
So rest all your worries and come to Thapar University already!
The institute released an official statement stating that the academic performance of students will be evaluated through CPI/SPI based on a 10-point scale. The CPI will be multiplied by a factor of 10 to obtain a numerical percentage for calculation.
So, the conversion system from a CGPA to an NIT Raipur percentage is *10.
For instance, your CGPA is 7.2. Then your Percentage will be 7.2 *10+72%
If you meet the eligibility criteria for the Common Entrance Test (CET) of JBIMS and achieve a score above the required cutoff, there is no need to worry about your admission chances. The admission decision is based solely on the score obtained on the written test.
However, once admitted, you will likely be asked about any gaps in your education during various stages, such as while preparing for summer internships, during summer internship interviews (for companies that have a no-gap criterion), while preparing for final placements, during final placement interviews, and even during your first few job changes. JBIMS may be accepting of a 99.9+ score, but recruiters may not share the same enthusiasm.
You may be asked about any gaps in your education during the interview process. In this case, it is important to share any relevant experiences and learnings from the gap year. Having a gap in education is not a problem, but not having learned anything from it may be viewed negatively.
It is too early to worry about these potential scenarios. Focus on preparing for and performing well in the written tests, as the rest can be managed later.
There are several general perceptions about IIM Shillong that may be worth addressing in order to provide a more accurate picture of the business school.
One perception is that IIM Shillong is located in a remote area and therefore lacks access to the same opportunities as more metropolitan business schools. However, this is not necessarily the case. In reality, many of the same companies that visit other top business schools like the Indian Institutes of Management in Bangalore and Kolkata also visit IIM Shillong. Additionally, companies come to the North East region to recruit both technical and managerial talent from IIM Shillong, as well as other top schools like IIT Guwahati and IIT Kharagpur.
Another perception is that IIM Shillong lacks proper infrastructure due to its temporary campus. However, the current campus, which has been in operation for the past 10 years, is equipped with the latest technologies and is on par with other top business schools in terms of infrastructure.
A third perception is that IIM Shillong has poor-quality students and faculty. However, this is not true. In reality, students who are accepted to IIM Shillong have typically scored very highly on the Common Admission Test (CAT), with a percentile score above 98%. Additionally, the business school has guest faculty from reputable colleges abroad who teach a number of elective courses that rotate across the major IIMs. Overall, these factors suggest that IIM Shillong is a high-quality business school that offers a strong education and a range of opportunities for its students.
The class 10 and 12th marks are not directly linked to the shortlisting of GD/PI and even for Final Selection in IIM Shillong.
IIM Shillong has not defined the weightage for academics for 2022 MBA admissions. An expected set of scores, for students from different categories, is as follows:

Class 10 marks |
Class 12 marks |

Candidates who fulfill the above cutoff criteria will be considered for shortlisting into PI rounds and will be segregated as per their discipline in graduation.
