TS
Tania Sharma Posted On : August 8th, 2023
Studied at Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology

Thapar University has an H+ accreditation from Germany, which is the highest possible accreditation that a foreign institution can receive over there. Thus, a degree from Thapar is well recognized in Germany.

Thapar University has received this accreditation because its subjects are in line with those taught in German universities for similar degrees. A friend of mine who is a Thapar alumni will be joining FAU Germany for his Master’s. He gave me all this information. He has been offered a fully funded course for his higher education.

Thapar University students receive offers from top universities abroad. These institutions include- UCLA, UCSD, CMU, Columbia, GaTech, USC, Carnegie Mellon University ,UC Berkeley etc. Thapar University alumni have achieved great heights in the industry with alums working at senior positions in the head offices of top brands like Google, Microsoft, Amazon, and Walmart. Others have started their own ventures in foreign lands.

To sum it up,Thapar University is very well-recognized outside of India with its students achieving new heights in every domain.

TD
Tezal Dahiya Posted On : September 8th, 2023

As per the college regulations, you will have to use this formula for conversion of CGPA to percentage-

  • For semester exam, Equivalent % marks= (SGPA-0.5)*10
  • For final CGPA, Overall equivalent % marks= (CGPA-0.5)*10

According to your percentage/CGPA, you will be awarded a grade ranging from Ex to F. Ex stands for Excellent whereas F stands for fail.

These formulae are present on the backside of your semester report card.

This is the formula for the conversion of CGPA to percentage, as used by NIT Durgapur.

How is JNTU College of Engineering, Manthani, for CSE?

TD
Tezal Dahiya Posted On : August 3rd, 2023

My brother visited JNTUH-CEM for some Workshop Training Classes and also visited the Manthani Campus before his EAMCET Counseling choice filling. Here's how he described the College

  • The climate is hot and humid even during winters, the reason being the location of Coal Fields nearer to the College Campus.
  • The college provides decent accommodation facilities and more hostels are under construction to house the increasing batch size.
  • The CS department here is not well-established and has only 2 permanent faculty. One is the  HOD and the other is the Vice-Principal of JNTUH-CEM. Most classes are conducted by Contract based faculty members. Out of these, only a few are good at teaching.
  • JNTUH CEM students are eligible to participate in recruitments held by JNTUH for its Constituent Colleges all combined. The official placement figures are a bit inflated so don't be disappointed.

I am strongly against you joining this college especially if you can make it into the colleges that come under the top 20/30 rankings in Telangana State. But if you are joining JNTUH CEM because of financial issues, then consider joining JNTUH CES only. This is because it is located in Hyderabad and therefore offers better opportunities than Mathani. There are a plethora of coaching institutes here such as GATE coaching, GRE coaching, etc.

What is your opinion of the IIT Delhi maths and computing?

KS
Kunal Sharma Posted On : April 5th, 2023
B.Tech. from Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi

The maths and Computing program offered at IIT Delhi has a higher level of Mathematical concepts and fewer CS concepts. Many take the program under the pretext of attracting CS placements but the curriculum has more mathematical concepts.

Coursework: The coursework is very intriguing for those who are genuinely interested in the program but might seem difficult and boring for some. Moreover, maintaining a high SGPA in this course is really challenging and almost impossible.

Extracurricular: The rigorous curriculum leaves no space for extracurriculars and your schedule is always packed with some or other activities. The holidays and leisure available are less in comparison to other courses.

Placements: The course offered by the MnC Department of IIT Delhi has an excellent placement scenario and you will not be disappointed with the packages offered.

Overall, the program has a lot to offer in terms of curriculum and placements so is a good choice.

What are some pros and cons of NIT Calicut that one should know before joining (ECE)?

SK
Shailja Khandelwa Posted On : August 21st, 2023
B.Tech. from National Institute of Technology, Calicut (2019)

Every coin has two sides and likewise, every college you join will have its unique strengths and weaknesses. Knowing these beforehand helps you manage things and prepares you better. So here are a few pros and cons one must be aware of before joining ECE at NIT Calicut

Pros

  1. The ECE department of NIT Calicut is one of the oldest and most well-established departments of the institute and is also accredited by NBA. It's second only to the CSE department and the competition here is intense.
  2. The standards of examination papers setting and vivas conducted are excellent and evaluate the students' performances pretty well.
  3. The department is well-known for its high-tech embedded systems lab. The lab mechanic as well as the facilities offered help the students conduct cutting-edge research under the guidance of the lab assistants and mechanics.
  4. The faculty of the department is highly experienced and learned with thorough knowledge of their respective fields. They have a knack for delivering concepts in a well-organized manner.

Cons

  1. Being one of the oldest departments, its buildings and overall infrastructure is deteriorating. The entire department is spread across various buildings and it takes time to visit faculties.
  2. The academic level of this branch is high so you cannot survive solely by mugging up the concepts. You need to have in-depth knowledge of the concepts. You might find some courses to be extraordinarily challenging so be prepared for the workload.
  3. A few Ad-hoc faculties destroy the momentum of the course through their poor pedagogy.
  4. The lab sessions are again very challenging and getting the right results may be more challenging than expected.

Overall, the NIT Calicut ECE department will bring in a number of challenges but if you are interested in the branch you will get to experience an unmatched learning environment and opportunities.

What should I choose: IIT Indore CSE or BITS Pilani EEE?

RT
Raktim Tarafdar Posted On : June 20th, 2023

When faced with a similar situation different people make different choices. There is no right choice as it’s a matter of personal preference. IIT Indore CSE and BITS Pilani EEE are both lucrative options and thus only your personal choices can determine the right one.

There are some who wish to grab the IIT tag and want to take CS because the branch is a major crowd-puller. While some want to experience the brand and prestige of the old BITS Pilani.

I would suggest you go for IIT Indore as the small batch size has its own benefits and moreover, IIT Indore has been growing quickly and seems to give more promising results in the future. The small batch size gives the vibe of a small family and you will love the bond here. BITS Pilani on the other hand has its own aura with Meritocracy as the mantra but its high fees are a major issue.

Both the institutes are equally good and choosing one of the other wouldn’t be a regretful decision.

  • What are your two weakest points?
  • What interests you outside of pharmacy and getting into pharmacy school?
  • What do you do in your spare time?
  • Why do you want to be a pharmacist?
  • When did you decide pharmacy was a good career choice for you?
  • What steps have you taken to confirm that you want to be a pharmacist?
  • What do you think being a pharmacist entails?
  • What do you feel are the most important qualities of being a good pharmacist?
