Which is better: MME at NIT Trichy or CSE at NIT Patna?

RT
Raktim Tarafdar Posted On : August 31st, 2023

When considering these two options, you’ll have to look closely at the course as well as the college-

MME at NIT Trichy- NIT Trichy is a top NIT. It is a well-renowned institution with the best of students, faculty, and campus.

  • The campus is huge, which is great for an amazing campus life. However, there’s always a problem with commuting to big campuses.
  • NIT Trichy offers good sports and extracurricular facilities. But talking about MME, the faculty isn’t that great at NIT Trichy.
  • MME offers fewer placements and not-so-good opportunities in India. However, for higher education/ job opportunities abroad, the chances are better. Try to find out if you can go for internal sliding at NIT Trichy.

CSE at NIT Patna- Here are some pros and cons of joining NIT Patna for your CSE-

  • Campus- The campus is pretty average, neither good nor bad. It is small when compared to NIT Trichy.
  • Placements- The placements for CSE are very good at present.
  • Faculty and Teaching Standards- The faculty of NIT Patna is average and the teaching standards aren’t really good.
  • Co-curricular activities - NIT Patna also offers co-curricular facilities and you’ll enjoy participating in them.
  • Wi-Fi, library, other facilities- Facilities aren’t top-notch overall. However, the central library has a good collection of competitive, academic and general books. It has high speed Wifi and AC.
  • Clubs - The clubs aren’t top-notch. There are cultural and technical clubs. Hackslash is a club that conducts events and sessions on tech and coding.

CSE from NIT Patna will offer good placement opportunities. But you’ll have to compromise on an amazing campus and a great campus life. I recommend you talk with the alumni from both these courses and try to find out some more perks that I might’ve missed out on.

Infrastructurally they are almost at par with all facilities available, but the newer IITs like Dharwad are currently functional in transit campus so all facilities cannot be availed as of now. Hence, it is up to the student to choose a given course in a particular college.

Which is better, a BTech in mechanical engineering from GEC Thrissur or BTech in safety & fire engineering from CUSAT?

AB
Akriti Banerjee Posted On : August 8th, 2023

There is no better course as the choice of a course depends a lot on one’s preferences and future prospects. You need enough passion to like a course because every course has its good and bad parts.

BTech in Mechanical Engineering should be considered only if you are interested in it genuinely because it’s quite challenging. BTech in Safety and Engineering is mistakenly considered to be the easiest BTech program but the reality is far from this. This course covers topics from Mechanical, Civil, and even Chemical. As a result, this branch ends up being the Jack of all trades but the Master of none. The students of this branch are capable of handling HSE in almost any type of industry.

The placements of the Safety and Fire Engineering program are decent despite the limited opportunities. Companies like Reliance, BPCL, IOCL, ONGC, and VEDANTHA make good offers here.

So my verdict is to go for Mechanical if you are sure about your interest in it else Safety and Fire Engineering is a good choice.

You can go with the option of IIT Mandi. The recruiters from CSE offer high job packages every year to the students. IIT Mandi is the best place to change your branch to CSE, as it is one of the most competitive fields. You will be placed in a good company with high packages as a fresher in your favorite CSE field. When compared with the semi-new IITs, the best option would be Mandi. For other IITs, branch change might be a difficult task. Over the last three years, about 167 students got enrolled for placements; among them, 156 were placed. So IIT Mandi is a good choice.

Should I go with metallurgy engineering at Jadavpur University or CS at IEM Heritage or Kalyani?

SP
Sheela Pahari Posted On : October 1st, 2021
B.Tech Mechanical Engineering,Kalyani Government Engineering College (2020)

All these colleges are very popular and hold very good reputation in the industry. But choosing a college will completely depend on your needs and interests.

  • If you want to get the tag name of JU, then you can definitely go for it.
  • Otherwise CS at IEM is also a good option.
  • Kalyani and Heritage would not be a good choice and most of the students who can't make into JU or IEM take admission at these colleges.
  • CS is one of the best courses to study for your career and there is a lot of scope in this field.
  • You will find an immense number of opportunities and very good placements in this field.
  • If you are planning to settle in one of the metro cities of India, then pursuing CS will be one of the best options, as you will find many job opportunities related to this field in any of the major cities.
  • IEM is decent enough and would not be as good as JU.
  • To find a splendid job opportunity you will have to score very good marks in your semester exams.
  • Also, try to do an internship if possible so that you can have some relevant work experience to find better jobs.
  • If you are planning to go abroad, then CS will be more beneficial than Metallurgy.

Hence, it all depends on which field you are more interested in, and make your decision wisely as it will have a huge impact on your career and your future.

Should I go for nit Calicut eee or bits hyderabad ece??please provide details on both(median package and opportunities and scope)

RT
Raktim Tarafdar Posted On : July 31st, 2023

Between NIT Calicut and BITS Hyderabad, the latter is the better option irrespective of the branch you are getting. Here are a few points of difference between the two institutes.

  • BITS Hyderabad EEE placements are great and students get placed in core electronics companies such as NVIDIA, National Instruments, Texas Instruments, MediaTek, etc while NIT Calicut has very few core companies and students are usually placed in IT companies.
  • BITS Hyderabad charges very high fees whereas NIT Calicut charges average fees.
  • BITS Hyderabad offers a better exposure and research culture in comparison to NIT Calicut.
  • BITS Hyderabad has an excellent faculty pool and the labs are equipped with modern instruments much better than NIT Calicut.

In my opinion, BITS Hyderabad should be your preference provided that you have no monetary issues.
