How are the placements of chemical engineering at Thapar University?
At present, the average salary for B.Tech Chemical graduates of Thapar University is around 8 LPA. Some recruiters for the department are- Reliance, OCCL, HMEL, JUBILANT Life Sciences, Ambuja Cement, Johnson Matthey, JSW Steel, Deloitte, Agilent Technologies, Honeywell UOP, Zunroof Tech Pvt Ltd, Tech Mahindra, and others.
The department placements are, unfortunately, declining year on year. The B.E. Chemical on campus placement percentage barely touches the 50% mark. And this figure is obtained by taking into account only eligible candidates. A few students receive PPOs in their internships while some are selected off campus in companies like Udaan(Hiveloop Technologies), Vardhman, Jaypee fertilizers, Ind Swift, Zomato, etc.
Thus, the placement figures are not very impressive for BE Chemical at Thapar University.
Should I pursue civil engineering at IIT Indore or electrical engineering at IIT Patna?
Last year, my friend was in a similar dilemma and decided to seek help directly from a PhD student at IIT Indore. Surprisingly enough, the fellow's first question was if I had other options.
He explained that the CE branch here is new and lacks credibility yet. The labs aren’t well established and the seniors are equally clueless about the future. This helped my friend a lot as he then switched to IIT Patna EE and to date, he hasn’t regretted his decision even once as it is one of the best UG branches of IIT Patna.
- Choosing IIT Patna will give you a variety of options to opt for after 4 years in various fields like Core Electrical, Electronics, Coding, Open Source Development, Further Studies, and even Research.
- Being one of the oldest branches, it has a broad alumni pool that is making big contributions to society.
- The branch has the best labs such as the Advanced Electrical Lab, the Basic/Analog/Digital Lab, the Communication Lab, the Digital Signal Processing Lab, and so on.
- The branch has an actively operating Club called Sparkonics
- Like any other IIT, the professors are highly qualified and you cannot doubt their parity.
Lastly, don’t give up on IIT Indore just because it is in Patna. Irrespective of whichever city it belongs to an IIT will serve you the best!
How is the IP University for B.Tech?
GGS Indraprastha University is one of the best universities for B.Tech in the Northern region if you are willing to choose engineering but within a budget.

How is Computer Engineering at Thapar University different from the usual CSE courses in other institutes?
A few of my friends have pursued CSE from various universities and institutes. If looked into their experiences, I will tell you to go to Thapar University.
Following are some of the reasons why Thapar is preferable for CSE:
- Faculty are young, motivated, and dedicated, with a high proportion of Ph.D. holders.
- Many faculty members hold certifications in cutting-edge computer science and engineering fields.
- Extensive student engagement framework based on regular interactions, annual educational tours, a feedback mechanism, and professional chapters and societies.
- The department has a long list of prominent visitors for research and academic research from India and outside.
- The department is ISO certified and NBA accredited. The department has an innovation lab with high-performance computer technology.
- Many sponsored research projects from the MHRD, DST, UGC, AICTE, TCS, and others are being carried out by the department.
- Google, Microsoft, DeShaw, Adobe, Amazon, Yahoo, Samsung, NVidia, and a long list of other dream firms are top recruiters who visit the campus every year for placement drives.
As a result, Thapar is without a doubt the best option for computer engineering.
Will a gap of 4 years between a B.Tech and an M.Tech affect placements in IIT Delhi?
There is no certainty if a gap of 4 years between BTech and MTech will affect placements in any way because it all depends on what you did during the gap. If you were working, then your experience will have neither a positive effect nor a negative effect as the recruiters come with fixed roles and packages and it’s not MBA so the gap does not really matter for them.
Before joining MTech you can analyze what the current job will give you in 2 years in comparison to the MTech degree. Only then make a sound decision. All in all, you will require more than normal efforts to get into MTech.

- MTech is a coursework degree rather than a research work-based degree whose purpose is to train engineers for specific tasks instead of research work

Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University (PDPU) is one of the NAAC 'A' graded private universities settled in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. The institute successfully bagged 177th rank by NIRF and counted among the top engineering colleges of India.

How is the CSE branch at MNNIT Allahabad?
My friend studies CSE at MNNIT Allahabad. Through close contact with him over all these years, I find myself eligible to answer your question.
MNNIT intakes students with around 3000-4000 rank in JEE Mains, for its B.Tech CSE program. This shows the quality of the students at the CSE department. The average package for this degree is around 27.57 LPA through campus placements. Top companies like Facebook visit the department and offer around 1.63 CPA to the B.Tech CSE students.
The kind of competition that prevails among the students to get into B.Tech CSE at MNNIT Allahabad, and the high placement records are enough to prove the value of this program, and of MNNIT.
Why is CGC Landran not giving admissions in CSE to students with less than 75% in 12?
This is basically the admission criteria for management quota which is relaxed after some time. They could even ask for donations later. You can secure admission to CGC Landran in the following two methods:
- You can appear for the JEE after which most students apply for the PTU Counseling system. This method mainly ensures that you get admission to the college without donations. This is only if PTU allows a seat to you in the college of your choice.
- One of my friends went for admission in CSE in CGC with 67.4% in 10+2 through PTU counseling. My sister was admitted to CSE via PTU too. His profile was 58% in 10+2 with a good JEE Score that was close to 50-60 marks.
- On the other hand, if you have not appeared for the JEE, you might have to wait for a little while longer. Usually, the college will provide you with admission to CSE themselves and you might not have to donate any money. You can try visiting the college for 2 to 4 weeks after classes have commenced for the first semester.
They are generally on the lookout for admissions and at the start, claim that they have limited seats. They might push you in the direction of mechanical, electronics and IT but in my opinion, you should stick to the field of your choice. The ‘limited seats’ notion is mainly a business gimmick and out to fool people. You will definitely get the branch of your choice. You might have to persevere a little more for it, but it will be in your hands.
Which is better: IIT-D electrical or IIT Madras electrical?
Both IIT D Electrical and IIT Madras Electrical courses are very well sought after by the students. Both of these institutes are well recognized for their strong and excellent curriculum on electrical engineering.
- However, IIT Madras is famous for its strong foundation and focus on quality education in the field of engineering.
- It has a beautiful campus that offers excellent facilities for learning and research.
- IIT Madras holds 1st rank under NIRF ranking.
- The cut-off for pursuing electrical from IIT Madras for the year 2023 for the general category was 908.
- The average course fee for the first year at IIT Madras is INR 2.15 LPA.
- It has the highest package of 46 LPA with a median package of 17 LPA.
Is it good to take the ETC branch in VSSUT? How good are the placements in ETC in VSSUT?
Electronics, although a vast branch has limited scope in colleges like VSSUT. So, I would not recommend you to take ETC in VSSUT.
You will face many problems, especially in practicals. The lab equipment is outdated hindering the practicals. Most students copy from each other and rarely do students solve a practical question on their own. The professors are also underqualified so your only saviors here are the toppers or the geeks.
The grading is pathetic and some professors don’t give marks unless they know you personally. Students are required to wear formal and clean shaved faces for the next 4 years, unlike the students of other branches.
The lab records will be disapproved and you will have to write it again and again. The students of this branch get back in their exams frequently. The fault is in the faculty members and yet no action is taken against them.
Although I recommend you not to join this branch, you can consider talking to the seniors once before making the final decision.
