Dr. Seema Agrawal is the Principal at Kanoria PG Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Jaipur. She works as Head, Department of ABST in this institute. She has an experience of over three decades in academics and research. She has authored and co-authored books on the subjects of Income Tax, Management Accounting, Auditing, and Advanced Accounting.

What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?

“A desire to remain updated with knowledge & about the career opportunities available for the students”

 Every educator is driven by the feeling that her efforts today will play an important role in shaping the future. Our students today should be good enough to become leaders of tomorrow in their respective fields. I feel honored to contribute to their growth. It is our duty and responsibility to provide them different avenues as per their subjects.

What is your philosophy of leadership?

“To learn from changing policies before implementation and helping colleagues in their journey”

 It is more of a team membership style than a leadership style. However, what I like to achieve is to build and nurture a team that not only has the requisite skill but also understands the responsibility they shoulder. Once this is achieved, I can step back and let the team members accomplish outstanding results in their unique style. When required, we pitch in to assist each other.

What would you like people to know about your college they may not know?

“The institute has been established to empower women through education and holistic development”

Kanoria PG Mahila Mahavidyalaya is a 55-year-old college. This was the first primary institute in the state of Rajasthan for girl’s education and the motto was an outreach of education. Along with academics we also provide skill-based education, especially for personality development and enhancing communication skills. We provide an academic and cultural platform so that they can groom themself, and identify their potential.

What are some of the biggest challenges you see for higher education?

“Lack of dedication towards higher education is an ongoing challenge”

Motivating students to be involved completely in their classes seems to be difficult in this era of distractions. All universities will have to include a continuous evaluation system so that we can bound students to study thoroughly throughout the sessions. Misinformation is also highly prevalent and efforts must be made to avoid the spread of it.

What do you see as Kanoria PG Mahila Mahavidyalaya’s greatest strengths?

“Scholarly staff, prominent infrastructure, and innovative teaching methodologies”

Our greatest strength is the staff. We have competent teaching faculty along with dedicated support staff and non-teaching staff. We also pay great attention to the holistic development of the students, hence we support several student clubs. These clubs motivate arts and crafts along with entrepreneur skills of interested students.

What are the pre-requisites of opting for a career in commerce?

“Mathematical IQ and aptitude are essentially required to excel in this field”

When a student completes secondary education after 10th one has to decide whether he or she wants to opt for commerce. In commerce, accounts is the basic subject. Hence, after the 10th standard, they should start working on it. When basics are clear then only you can smoothly pursue your advanced courses.

In commerce, we have core departments like accounts and business statistics department. We have the presence of 6 excellent subject specialists for this department. Then we have the business administration department, having 8 faculty members. Also, we have Economic and financial management department that consists of 6 faculty members.
