Dr. Richa Chaturvedi is the Head of the Home Science Department at Kanoria PG Mahila Mahavidyalaya. She has worked as the Secretary at Indian Dietetic Association, Rajasthan Chapter and as Co-convenor at NetProFaN, Rajasthan Chapter. She is also a life member of the Nutrition Society of India and the IAPEN Rajasthan Chapter. She has 11 research publications in National and International Journals and has published 18 articles in Newspapers and Magazines. She has attended around 30 FDPs, workshops, seminars and conferences.

What are your roles and responsibilities?

“Focus on development in academic teaching and learning”

We ensure an effective syllabus for academics. It assists in understanding the practical level of subjects. Our campus aims at academic teaching and learning on development. We guide the students in tough situations and solve problems. 

How do you establish healthy relations with students and faculty? 

“Appreciate achievements and respect individuality”

A boundary line and space must exist for every relation. A healthy relationship is maintained by the teacher through fair decisions, praises in public, and correcting the pupil rather than punishment. It is essential to appreciate achievements and respect individual space for maintaining good relationships. 

How do you bring a practical approach towards subjects as industry-oriented? 

“Provide laboratory experiments, seminars, and demonstrations for students”

The five essential cores of Home Science in Food and Nutrition, Human Development, Clothing and Textiles, Family and Extension Education, and laboratory experiments, seminars, and demonstrations for students. The skill development raises employability for every pupil through project works.

How do you update the curriculum for students in Kanoria PG Mahila Mahavidyalaya?

Our department conducts lectures, workshops, and training programs for every student. It keeps the student updated with the Home Science field. We provide placements and internships to enrich their talent in the outside world. 

What are your views on placements and higher education?

“High rate of placements in the campus for student growth”

Most of the students are progressing in higher education from our campus. The training and placement center of the institute assists to offer placements after graduation. Various candidates get placed in reputed organizations from our campus. 

How do you help a student to cope with outside competition?

I always motivate students to update skills at all times. We provide skill-based practical applications of our subject. It helps them to get employed fast. They can also crack competitive exams through continuous preparation. 

What extracurricular activities raise the skills of students to face real-world challenges?

Our institute consists of Centers for Guidance and Counseling. We give Training, Placement, and Entrepreneurship for all individuals. It helps to face real-world challenges and prepare the future of students. 

What challenges do you face to uplift the education quality of Kanoria PG Mahila Mahavidyalaya?

“To construct a new building for several education sections”

The education did not divide into elementary, middle, high school, and higher education. One of the continuous processes is education. The base remains weak to construct a new building. 

What approaches do you bring apart from the curriculum to train students?

“Certificate, diploma courses, workshops, and student seminars provided by the campus”

We give small projects, workshops, and seminars for students. They will get a skill-based certificate and diploma courses to achieve a good job. Our campus provides the best to upskill students for a better future.
