Mrs. Dr. Suganthi has been working as an Associate Professor at Sri Sairam Institute of Technology, Chennai, Tamil Nadu. She has done Graduation in Electronics & Communication Engineering, Masters in Embedded Systems and PhD as part of her academics. She has an amazing teaching experience of 19 years as Lecturer, Assistant Professor and Associate Professor. Her areas of interest are Networking, Embedded Systems, Sensor Networks, Internet of Things and Cryptography. She is also a Fellow of IETE, IEEE & Life Member of ISTE and IEI. Her research interests cover the design and analysis of wireless sensor networks and various optimization techniques. She has also published technical papers in National, International journals and conferences.

Which key factors keep you connected with the education sector?

"My dedication to upgrade myself and others through my knowledge and experience"

Learning new things, new technologies and educating others about the same has been my passion since forever. And in my opinion, if you can inspire others to do good things, half of the work is already done because it's not necessary to impart knowledge through lectures only, your communication and behaviour skills matters as well. These factors I believe together have kept me associated with the education sector for so long. 


Being the HOD of Sri SaiRam Institute, what is your philosophy of leadership? 

"Utilizing team skills by giving everyone equal opportunities is true form of leadership" 

I strongly believe that leadership is all about giving equal opportunities to everyone who works for you and works with you. Teamwork and collaboration are my two main mantras to achieve the desired output.


How do you strategize the key programs for the marketing and administration of your college?

"We connect with our students through digital campaigns, social media handles and events"

To expand our reach to more and more students, we launch digital campaigns to engage them with us. And we also organize counseling and career guidance sessions with industry experts to evaluate students' future preparedness and guide them where they need to give more focus.


In your experience, what inbound a student can gain from studying here in your institute?

"Events like workshops, technical training and Alumni interaction sessions are organized by us regularly"

Our institute does provide career counseling to students and frequent Alumni interaction sessions are organized too to make students aware about the corporate world. We also have different kinds of sports, associations and clubs to conduct extracurricular activities for students' development. In addition to this, personality development training and workshops to equip students with latest technologies knowledge.


How does the curriculum of your institute ensure the best practices of industry?

"It is backed by mini and major projects in addition to lab experiments"

Our curriculum is a perfect blend of theoretical and practical learning and we assign projects to students on a regular basis in accordance with Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). Being an Associate Professor, my responsibility is to conduct myself ethically in all things I do and to provide quality education to students to make them society and industry ready.

When you first came to Sri SaiRam Institute of Technology, what was your vision for it?

"To offer exceptional education to students and make them society and industry ready"

When I joined this institute, my aim was to provide finest technical knowledge and research scope to students so that they can perform to the best of their calibre. I also wanted to develop the students' technological prowess and moral fortitude, which they will then pass on to others and contribute to the development of society and humanity.

In my opinion, scarcity of skilled mentors, difficulties for rural students in affording higher education, excess adoption of new technologies in higher education are some of the issues which need to be addressed on an urgent basis.


Any suggestions which you would like to give to the current youth and aspiring students?

"Identify your strengths and use the same to fulfill your future goals"

I would like to advise my students and youths of our society to identify their unique strengths and use the same strengths to pursue their dreams. In addition to this, be disciplined, keep learning new things and live your life to the fullest. Last but not the least, always be prepared to unlearn and relearn new technologies.

Presently, we are providing a perfect amalgamation of learning and work to students so that they can learn new skills and upgrade themselves as per industry standards and can face corporate challenges with more confidence. 


How do you establish a healthy relationship and environment in your institute?

"By being a good listener and easily approachable person for them"

To have a cordial relationship with my students and fellow faculty, I use the approach of open communication by being easily approachable to them. And while interacting with them, I listen to their issues and queries with my full attention so that I can give appropriate solutions for the same.
