My experience

A
7.5 /10

It was close enough to commute to from my hometown each day so I didn't have to worry about paying for boarding. It offered the program I was interested in. And was the school my dad went to as well.

Course Curriculum :

What pretty good. Good practical applications in class and in the coop. The teachers were pretty good overall. There were some who were from far away and had to commute so they seemed like they rushed through some material. Our regular faculty were fantastic at their jobs though. And had real-life experience.

Exams :

I am studying to take the PEBCs jurisprudence exam and complete structured practical training to become a registered tech.

Placement :

So many! There are many opportunities in retail. At any given time I could find at least 3 openings within my area. Only semi problem is most are part time these days. Full time is what i need to support myself. I have been able to find this but took some time of working 2 jobs to neet my needs and pay my dues.

Internship :

Yes it did. Mine lasted about 4 months and I was able to do it in my hometown. I got experience in all kinds of aspects of the industry. I also did a rotational hospital placement. On that stand, because I was somewhere different each day it was a little overwhelming and the mentors kinda treated us as a nuisance than a student or intern/helper. I think I would have enjoyed a central location more.

Events :

I didnt actually do many of the events. I know there were concerts amd bingo nights often. Lots of clubs to join. My life was just so busy I never had the chance there were some fundraising things I've seen most put on my paramedic program.

Fees :

Tuition paid per semester. I had a school fund to pay in full each time but I know a lot apply for OSAP and grants or scholarships available through the school places of employment and government programs. I've heard about this contest for the luckiest student in Canada too that pays for everything. Books tuition boarding supplies. I think that's fantastic better than the lottery. It would take so much stress off an already pretty stressful time.

Scholarship :

No I have not availed any scholarship or financial aid. I relied purely on my saved money from working and a childhood savings bond I had.

Examination Structure :

It was good. They always prepped us well. Review beforehand. Exam structure was often formulated to reflect the kind of scenario we would face when going through the regulatory exams with OCP. I think this is very beneficial. It helps with the stress of the registration process since we at least have a feel of what to expect down the road.

Faculty :

They were very knowledgeable. They were active participants in the profession still while teaching as well. They know and had advice on how to prepare ourselves and what to expect.

Hostel :

I never stayed in residence.
