Ques. What is the current placement scenario for metallurgy and materials engineering at NIT Trichy?

● Top Answer By Suresh Mishra on 30 Aug 21

One of my friends graduated from NIT Trichy and here are some facts about the institute I got to know from her. As you have not mentioned any specifications, let me just describe the placement scenario of Metallurgy at NIT Trichy. The placements generally vary from year to year.  Out of a batch of around 60 students, people looking for placements every year is around 40. The rest of the people either go for higher studies or have some other plans.  Most of the people get into material science-related fields at very good universities. Out of the 40 students, around 30 usually get placed.  Companies that usually open for metallurgy graduates include, Core Metal (steel/ aluminium), Automobile, Analytics, Software and others. There are a few companies that are regular visitors. The rest depends on the market and your training placement coordinator. Placements for metallurgy students are lesser than the other departments. Categories Metallurgy and Materials Engineering at NIT Trichy Course Fee 5.65 lakh Highest CTC 22 LPA Average CTC 10-12 LPA Recruiting Companies BPCL, L&T, Tata Steel, Reliance, etc. So, you need to act upon those selected shots you get. You'll have many chances throughout the year. You will also get a lot of guidance from immediate seniors....Read more

Ques. Should I go for civil engineering or metallurgy and material science engineering in NIT Trichy?

● Top Answer By Sreeja Prasad on 31 Aug 21

I would suggest you go for metallurgy if you plan to do a job right after completing your degree. Metallurgy has more job opportunities to offer. With Metallurgy, you can easily learn coding and go for tech companies. NIT Trichy has a great coding culture, so picking up coding skills will not be difficult.  If you plan to prepare for civil services or any other government job, I would suggest you go for civil engineering. When compared to metallurgy, there are fewer job opportunities in the civil department. If you plan on doing an MBA after having done your engineering, you can opt for either of them because then it does not matter anyway....Read more

Ques. Should I choose NIT Trichy metallurgy over NIT Raipur ECE?

● Top Answer By Rani Pandey on 01 Apr 21

My friend is currently pursuing B.Tech from NIT Raipur in the mechanical department. His honest opinion says that you should go for metallurgy at NIT Trichy. Here’s why If you went for the wrong branch or found out later that this is not your cup of tea, then after the 1st year you will have an option called branch sliding. In this process, you can change your branch from the current one to the desired one based upon the number of vacancies and score. If you went for the wrong college, then there's no option as a college slide! You’ll have to devote your 4 years in that college anyhow, except if you again decide to give mains. So, if you simply want to get into a better place then choose NIT Trichy. This is because you can get the advantage of branch sliding anyhow. However, if you don’t want to take risk of not getting the desired branch, then go for NIT Raipur. At last, sort your preferences and know your sole aim. Because in the long run, your happiness and satisfaction are what matters the most!...Read more

Ques. Which is the better course between NIT Trichy ECE or IIT Bhubaneswar for Metallurgy ?

● Top Answer By Deepika Mishra on 14 Aug 20

NIT Trichy would be a better choice than IIT Bhubaneswar for Metallurgy because of the following reasons. The placements are better for in ECE than in Metallurgy. If students fail to get core placement in NIT Trichy, they can still try for top-notch coding and management companies recruiting from the ECE department. There are numerous Technical clubs for first years students who are passionate about Electronics. NIT Trichy has lower academic fees than IIT Bhubaneswar. But it may vary for different courses. The course fee of B.Tech in NIT is 72,100 whereas in IIT Bhubaneswar it is 1.4 lakh. In terms of quality of infrastructure and social life, NIT Trichy is better than IIT Bhubaneswar as it is much older. NIT Trichy ECE in 2019 has undergraduate placement of 95% and IIT Bhubaneswar Metallurgy has 90% placement in 2019....Read more
